OOC/Casting Call: Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning

Abraxas Winterlight said:
hey Shaq, which thread do you want me to do my intro post in?

The Xavier Institute. The way it works is the Institute threads holds all posts that happen inside the institute.

The current Danger Room session is a training. Normally danger room sessions are posted in the institute thread and missions get a separate thread but since we are practicing how the thread works we are making a separate thread because the Danger Room is the mission.

So since you'd be at the Institute make your post there. If you leave to go on the mission you would post in the Danger Room Mission thread.

I kinda understand why it would be confusing but just think mission threads get separate threads and what goes on in the mansion is in the Institute.

A Picture of the second subbasement- Notice the Danger Room and right next to it the War Room. The War Room is where we received the Holographic message and where planning takes place. This area is only accessed by X-Men and senior students.

The first level subbasement consists of Laboratories (including Beasts and Forge), the Infirmary (used by Elixir and those he heals) and a prison.

call me crazy but shouldn't the war-room bit still be posted in the mian masnion thread?

NiteCrowe:

I think the War Room that I'm in right now is part of the Danger Room program. I think we're all in the Danger Room, but I'm in a holographic War Room, not the real one.

Woo hoo. Though I do call dibs if whoever is playing Jubes doesn't show.

cool, i always liked magick, she is 1 of my faves (another words in all my x-men comics and stories by me, she is almost always in the team, along with my other faves.)

Ah another poster also mentioned it was confusing.

Usually Danger Room simulations are still in the institute. You're in the Danger Room War Room since the thread is called a Danger Room simulation you would post there.

But the War Room communication should still go in the Institute thread.

Technically this is just a practice round I only made the separate thread to show what to do if one leaves the mansion. Once one leaves the mansion they can't post in the institute cause they aren't at the institute.

Making a separate thread is just an exhibit of what to do we are in reality still at the mansion.

So for this particular simulation as long as you are in the institute you would post in the Institute and when you leave you post in the mission thread.

This will be the only time it happens that way but it is so we get the distinction between a mission and the mansion (without going on a real mission)

Notes on the facility

-It is located underground with a cave entrance
-I'll rp the adversaries and we won't meet any resistance going in

Renegade you don't need to edit your post but Sabretooth isn't with Magneto. Logan may have smelled Creed from a time he went into that part of Nevada but he isn't down there now.

my apologies, i just thought it would add a little something extra to my post

Oh don't worry, we're about to find something even more fearsome than Sabretooth

Name: Illyana Rasputin

Codename: Magik

Powers: Magik had the mutant power to teleport through time and space by creating portals into the pocket dimension Otherplace. The greater the distance over which she teleported, the greater the possible margin of error in both space and time.

Magik was also a powerful sorceress whose powers were at their peak whilst in Limbo. Whilst in Earth’s dimension, her magical abilities were more limited, to astral projection, sensing mystical presences, and summoning her Soulsword.

Weapons
Magik wielded the Soulsword, the ultimate expression of her mystical power, to disrupt magical spells and injure or kill supernatural beings, though it had no physical effect on a non-supernatural creature, passing right through such a creature as if it were intangible.

Offensive Use of Power

Summon: Magik calls for the Soulsword. -5 points from Magik,

Slash: Weak slash with the soulsword. -5 points from Magik. Minor damage to supernatural and mystical opponents. -25% magical beings, -5% non-magical

Dark slash: More powerful version with the sword glowing black, meaning Magik is channeling her power through the sword. -50 - -100% depending on opponent's HP, the weaker the opponent the more likely she is to destroy them -15 points from Magik.

Nightmare Blast: Anyone caught within the blast is put to sleep and forced to live through their worst nightmares. -15 points from Magik

Teleport: -5 points from Magik. Magick tosses an enemy through her portal into OtherWorld.

Defensive Use of power

Infernal Shield: A shield of dark energy surrounds any ally Magick chooses.
-10- -30 points from Magik.

Refraction: Attacks can seem to hit, but are in truth sent back at the attacker. -5- -10 points from Magik, depending on how many attacks are hitting at once.

Teleport: Magick teleports herself and her allies out of harms way. -5 points from Magik

Designation: X-Caliber

Edited once again. Does this work?

Jubilee

Sorry for the delay ... I didn't really add a point system ...

Full Name: Jubilation Lee
Code Name: Jubilee
Occupation: Student, adventurer; former street performer

Age: 25
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black
Height: 5'5"
Race: Chinese-American

Family: (Orphaned. No known living blood relatives.)
Male influence/Father figure - Wolverine
Female influence - Jean Grey
Skills: Superb gymnasts, better than average hand to hand combat.

Powers: (1 to 100)
Able to produce plasma type pyrotechnics from her fingers to the point of them just being “Sparkly Lights” or have a kick to blow out a wall. (The latter is usually done when she is very emotional.)

Scientific Terms - Articulate quasi-animate transitory plasmoids.
(They go where she wants and explode on command.)

Personality:
Orphaned and forced to survive by herself for a time, Jubilee is a streetwise, smart mouthed ex-Mallrat. Jubilee has had more than her fair share of problems in life and her defense mechanism is her don't care, happy-go-lucky, look out for #1 attitude. This tough exterior hides a sensitive soul, which cares more for the people around her than Jubilee will ever let on. The 'tude is her trademark, and only those closest to her can see past it.

Additional:
A natural warrior. Possessed of a natural fighting instinct and the guts to back it up. If she doesn't find trouble it will find her. Performs best under pressure but may crack when crisis is past. Shows potential as a budding strategist.

Background:
Yep this a bit different Jub than you know. At age 18, Jub had met Kyle (aka Wraith) on his first day the grounds. He started of on the wrong foot with Logan & she made his bad start at the mansion brighter. They eventually became inseparable.

Over the years she learns that he is the consort to the ruler of the Shadow Plane. The Demi-Goddess finds her amusing little pet toy that her consort keeps & is no hurry to claim him just yet. This caused the first rift between the two lovers.

Jub eventually strikes a small compromise with Llandra (or “Queen Bitch” as she likes to call her), after both her & Wraith find out how long his lifespan really is. The deal is that she dibs on Kyle for as long as she is around & the Goddess gets him after that time period.

During the eight-month period that Wraith was pulled away from her by the Queen Bitch, Wraith’s Majordomo (who Jub calls Andi just to irritate him) teaches her a few spells.

Refresh – Cleans & press clothes (1)

Limitations on spells listed below are that they have to be done under cover of darkness or deep shadows.

Coldfire – cast a blue/white fire that throws off light & a bone-searing cold almost like liquid nitrogen (10)
Darksight – she can see as Wraith does, her eyes glow like his w/ same vulnerabilities (10)
Call of the Hounds – specifically Hunter the leader of “the Pack” which are huge mastiffs that respond to Wraith’s command (5)
Minion’s Call – specifically calls Squint to her, if he does not find her or Wraith first (5)

Previously:
Jub was in the Shadows with Kyle, being away at a training school is a cover for those who would not comprehend other dimensional planes. They were due to come back by way of Germany. But shit hit the fan in the form of Emplate, Wraith manhandled Jub’s plan to take Emplate out & ported them to the boonies lands of west Texas. After much complaining & some mass destruction on her part, Wraith finally moves them to New York City.

Jub’s Relationship With the Wraith's Minions
She is the first person that meets Squint & “Da Boyz”, well mostly Squint pesters her. He loves the dirty jokes Jub tells him & she is forever threatening him with a plasma shoved where the sun don’t shine. “The Pack” love her & leader Hunter has been known to follow her commands on occasions.

May be edited at a later time

Haha, I know. I seriously remember thinking "Damn, no one wants to be in X-Calibre."

All the teams will be rounded out soon I think. I'm leaning towards moving from Cyclops to Multiple Man once the threads starts and going to X-Factor.

And once the students move up then Generation X will be pretty set too.

All in all it should be fun.

So milkman if you reply to Scott you would do so in the Xavier Institute thread though the effects (us hearing you) would be on the Danger Room thread.

Technically we are all still in the institute but the separate thread is just to show how its done.

It just occurred to me ... what would happen of Majik w/ her soul sword & Wraith fought?

Shaq ~

I have to reread your point system post later ... I was editing Jubilee's Bio late last night ... & being pestered by someone at the same time ...

May I post yet?

Yes, you can post but you won't be able to enter combat until you assign points value to Magik's offensive and defensive abilities.

How much damage do her attacks do?
Are they more effective against one type of opponent as opposed to another? If that's the case a percentage is applied.

Does Magik have the danger to lose control of her powers?

EDITED TO ADD: How points work

-The points are a numerical value to indicate how strong an attack you are doing and how much power you are using to do it.

Magik calling for her soulsword (-10) means that it cost her ten points of mutant energy to do it.

A weak slash of the soulsword (-10) means that if it connects it would take away 10 health points from your opponent.

A weak slash (-20) would take away 20 points of health from an opponent.

When Magik does weak slashes though it strains her less than using the dark slash which channels her full power so it doesn't take away that much mutant power right?

So say there is a 80% reduction. Pick the strength you want to weak slash attack someone with. Anywhere from 10-40 lets say. Not less than 10 because minimal damage with a sword will still hurt that much and not more than 40 because it is not her strongest attack.

So say it is a weak slash of 20 points that connects against Cyclops fully. Cyclops would lose 20 points of health.

You would lose 20 points of mutant power with an 80% percent reduction because of Magik's training she knows how to maximize using her mutant power so you would use the percentage calculator.

http://mistupid.com/math/percents.htm

80% of 20 is 16. So after a sixteen point reduction is applied to the 20 Magik would only lose 4 points of mutant power.

The purpose of democracy

Hey everyone, I wanted to hold a thread vote.

How do you all feel about the points system? Should we keep it?

I wanted the points system so everyone would be mindful of how they used their powers and to make strategy a part of combat. It would make things a little more clear and prevent godmodding.

At the same time I don't want a system so cumbersome it prevents people from having fun.

If the majority votes against the points I'll trash it but I would have to be more critical of how we rp combat.

So what do you all think?

I'll tally up the votes by the time the first sign of combat happens and we'll go from there.
