OOC/Casting Call: Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning

Good point.

For Wolverine, Colossus and other mutants that come to mind they

A) Don't get tired by the use of their powers B) they are passive and not active.

So for you the points system would simply mean a maximum amount that Wolverine is able to attack. Someone who controlled Iceman or Storm could conjure up a pretty powerful maximum attack but Wolverine could never do near that much damage.

With regard to the healing factor, you are correct. The comics have GREATLY enhanced his power level but there is still some room for interpretation.

You'll have to separate how much of Wolverine's healing factor is due to the essence of the character and how much is it due to the fact Marvel doesn't want any character to die because they keep making money off of them?

I thought that when Magneto ripped the adamantium out of him and he was near death but recovered was pretty accurate. Given time especially when his body doesn't have to compensate for the adamantium, Wolverine could heal from that.

But when he's been exploded and decapitated WITH his adamantium and he heals within seconds?

Eh....bad writing in my opinion.

I would recommend the old school basics. His healing factor has to constantly compensate for his adamantium but is still pretty strong.

Decapitation (which Xavier suggested in the Xavier Protocols), mutilation (the battle with Cyclops in the age of Apocalypse that cost him his hand) and complete destruction of vital organs (like when Wolvie became canadian bacon thanks to the sentinel in days of future past) are the injuries I don't think he could heal from.

With time everything else he probably could but it would take him out of action for a while and if he didn't get that time to heal it may be a problem.

I think that roleplaying him would be more challenging and interesting that way (and it wouldn't hurt it if they wrote him like that in comics either)

I leave the specifics to you but I would recommend something deciding on a number to reflect his healing factor then dividing it in half.

Just off the top of my head reducing the damage he takes by 50 percent. Then if he doesn't get attacked again and doesn't have to attack (ie he can rest) then he gets back the rest of the 50 percent and is fully healed. But if he has to attack then his body won't be able to heal as quickly and if he gets attacked then he won't heal at all.

That doesn't exactly reflect the comics but it makes the game way more interesting and balanced.

And a student for Wolvie to mentor is great. One of the things I hope to see is created characters and relatively obscure characters finding a similar senior X-Man to model after.

EDITED TO ADD:

And Wolvie's enhanced senses wouldn't take any energy either you are right. Its one of those things, different mutants have different strengths and negatives. one of Wolvie's strengths is he doesn't get tired using his powers.

sounds good to me

Warfly has been sorted now as well.

Yes, i have increased the backstory between beast and warfly to say that Beast has adopted Warfly, which is easily plausible as i play both characters.

hope thats ok.

Ya know ... Ya just can't play w/o the girls ... *looks over at the guys*

Shaq ~ thanks for the invite ...
I'll play Jubilee ... someone gotta keep ya guys in line *winks*
Will be posting a current Bio soon ... after I read all the stuff Shaq posted ...

Woohoo!

Happy to have you Arc:D

Yep, this thread will be a lot more intricate than the ones before but hopefully more fun.

Sweet....we may be starting to get some real competition for the team leader positions:)

Thread will be up by the end of the day.

YOU HEROS THINK YOUR SAFE IN THAT HOVEL YOU CALL HOME!? BEWARE X-MEN MY INCUBATION TIME GROWS SHORT AND I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN OUR LAST ENCOUNTER! THE PAIN I WILL CAUSE YOU ALL WILL MAKE YOUR DEATHS SEEM LIKE HEAVEN BEFORE I'M THROUGH!

(OOC: this is not a joke...Shaq has asked me to join)

Arc playing Jube again

*sigh*

Shaq PM me & I'll tell ya about Wraith, her main spooky squeeze

(& we gotta come up with what we have been doing)

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=528889

The thread is up:)

So the call for all active X-Men includes everyone but the students.

To be an active X-Men means that a profile including their points and powers description has been posted. You WONT need to have it posted to go to the danger room but you WILL need to have it posted by the time combat begins.

It should be noted this is the sequel to the other thread of the same name (I didn't include the link to avoid confusion) but at this point in the roleplay none of the plot threads left hanging will be carried over but it is the same universe and team just a later in the future.

I'd be happy to play a student, and have been mulling it over since the thread started, but need help with "who".

We'd be happy to have you!

Students can be a created character if you've got an original in mind.

The New X-Men seem to be well represented early with Elixir, Specter and Hellion. (another member will be appear as a villain later hehe) Ithica played Surge in the last thread.

Surge - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surge_(comics)
Mercury- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_(Marvel_Comics)
Dust - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust_(comics)

And I really do hope to include some mystical characters in the thread. Buffy Sommers, Scarlett Witch or harry potter like magicians would be a big help to X-Calibre.

They would make good students.

Others who might make fun students are

Husk - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Husk_(comics)
Armor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hisako_Ichiki
Dazzler - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dazzler_(comics)
Sister Grimm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Minoru
Princess Powerful http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Powerful
Firestar - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firestar

If you want more well known characters Emma Frost, Polaris, Shadowcat, Storm, and Rogue are currently available.

Among the guys Nightcrawler, Bishop, Iceman and Cannonball spring to mind.

Cool male students could be

Harry Potter
Angel or Spike (the vampires from Buffy)
Victorious - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Mancha
Pete Wisdom - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Wisdom
Rictor - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rictor

Shaq, why dont you just decide what the points entail for wolverine, your the GM after all, and youd prolly be better at keeping him balanced then me (i have bias toward wolverine, being as he is my favorite character in pretty much any medium)

Cool, don't worry I'll treat 'em right.

But you can go ahead and post him going into the Danger Room.

Do you think you understand how to use the points system in terms of attacking and shit?

Shaq you forgot Gambit ... unless I missed it & someone took him ...

NiteCrowe said:
if u'll want i'll play nightcrawler or nocturne as well.

You can if you like.

Just make sure you don't stretch yourself too thin but if you can handle the characters go for it.

One thing about the way the thread is set up, it works best if they are tons of characters but its kinda like WoW in that some mission require a lot of characters but if you don't have that many active participants you'll just have to decline them.

So it becomes part of the strategy of deciding if the number of active players can handle a mission or not.

yea, i think i understant the points system, if i have a question or i fuck up ill ask and/or edit my mistake out.

Cool, you probably won't even need to do that.

Everyone will have to pass a danger room session before they can go out into the field.

After that they are optional.

So to start the thread everyone whose ready (Cyclops, Hellion, Beast, and Wolverine cause I should have yours worked out by morning) will start with a Danger Room session.

Jubilee and Wraith are almost up to speed too so if they get their bios filled out then the team will really start to take form.

I can tell you, we will need them.

The first Danger Room training will be VERY important. We will cover every main facet of the game.

EDITED TO ADD: and you can begin posting as Wolvie whenever you are ready. Your points bio will be done before combat starts.

Codename: Wolverine

real name: James Howlett (commonly known as Logan)

Bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine_(film)#Films

Powers: hyperaccelerated healing factor, mutated physiology that includes 6 foot long retractable bone claws, 3 on each arm. superhuman senses, (sight, hearing, and smell) adamantium skeleton, has been known to fly into berserker rage that increases his strength and resistance to telepathic abilities

Designation: X-force Offensive

Specialty:Combat and Enhanced Senses. having trained as a soldier, spy, assasin, ninja, samurai etc. Wolverine is proficient in virtually all styles of hand to hand combat and proficient with most forms of weapons both melee and ranged. Wolverine is also able to use his heightened senses to detect sounds and smells that normal humans could not.

Offensive Uses of Power:

1. Superhuman Strength – Wolverine has peak human strength and is able to lift small and large objects up to 500 lbs (The back end of a small car would be possible, the whole car over his head would not)

-Any attack requires one point of mutant energy per one point strength behind it. So body slamming or throwing Cyclops (who has no damage reduction% and takes all the damage) with a force of 30 points would take away 30 points of mutant energy from Wolverine and 30 points of health points from Cyclops.

2. Healing Factor/Heightened Endurance -Due to Wolverine's accelerated healing and stamina there is a 75% reduction for any use offensive attacks so using the Percentage Calculator

EX: If Wolverine were to throw Cyclops with a force of 30 Wolverine's endurance would give him a 75% reduction. 75% of 30 is 23 (always round up) So it would cost Wolverine a total of 7 points of mutant energy

-If Wolverine doesn't lose health between for one FULL post (meaning either in the current post or the next post) then the remainder of the mutant energy is healed back in the following post

EX:

Post 1-Wolvie attacks loses 30-23=7 points of mutant energy.
Post 2-Does not lose health points
Post 3-Remaining mutant energy (from post 1) is restored.

-If Wolverine is hurt then the first post in which he is not his mutant energy is restored.

-If Wolverine is hurt in consecutive post then keep a list of each amount of remaining mutant energy there is. In the next post he is not hurt the amount is restored. This repeats until all of his mutant energy is restored or he is dead.

2.Adamantium skeleton-The weight and hardness of adamantium add to the power to his strikes.

Any attack using Wolverine's Skeleton (punches, kicks, but not throws or projectiles) has a 50% Damage Augmentation

EX: Wolverine punching Cyclops with a force of 20 would result in Wolverine losing (20-75%= 5) 5 points of mutant energy and Cyclops losing (20+50%=10) 30 points of health.

3.Claws- his adamantium claws can cut through most substances, depending on their thickness and the amount of force he can exert. (Amount of possible strength = 30 - 90+ Damage Augmentation%)

4. Berserker- Wolverine can fly into a berserker rage wherein his attacks become quite powerful and frenzied (70-100 with 100% Damage Augmentation)

-While in Berserker mode there is a 40% chance Wolverine will attack a teammate

EX: Whenever Wolverine is driven into Berserker mode during the post use the random number generator. 1-100 with the first 40 numbers representing an attack on a teammate or innocent.

Defensive Uses of Power:

1. Senses-can sense dangers around him

-Wolverine can recognize smells if they are close and he has encountered them. If Wolverine recognizes the smell it is up to the player to cite an instance of when.

(Sabretooth is easy ditto for Magneto but has Wolverine ever met Mikhail Rasputin???)

2. Accelerated Healing Factor – Due to Wolverine's accelerated healing factor he has a 50% automatic damage reduction. The remaining points return to Wolverine's health if he goes one full post without losing health OR attacking

NOTE: the percentages and the way wolverine recovers health versus mutant energy are different. Both occur at the same time and are independent of each other

-If Wolverine is hurt or attacks then the player records the remaining health points and regains them once Wolverine goes a full post without attacking or being hurt.

-If multiple posts occur before Wolverine recovers health then the health will return in each post Wolverine is not injured or performs an attack until he is recovered or dead.

3.berserkerbecomes extremely resistant to telepathic attacks.

-The Player chooses when Wolverine goes into Berserker mode and when he returns to normal

Codename:Skoll

Real Name: Unknown (likes to be called Eirik, perhaps a residual memory?)

Bio: Discovered in the furthest reaches of the norweigan wilderness by Wolverine, in a near feral state. Was being hunted by Lapp herdsman for his raids on their Reindeer herds, who named him Skoll, after the son of the wolf god Fenrir of norse mythology. Wolverine was able to bring some semblance of humanity back to him. Skoll has no knowledge of where he came from or who he was before, save that he "remembers ten winters" putting his age most likely between 13 and 16. his status as true mutant is not certain given the strange specifics of his abilities. It is thought he may be a genetically engineered and augmented human or perhaps an alien experiment some even say that he is actually the son of the Wolf God. Has developed a filial bond with Wolverine, who has a fatherly tendency toward the young creature. He is 7 feet tall and weighs almost 800 pounds. His body has some distinctly human features such as his eyes and general facial structure. his mouth and nose region is strangely elongated, that in conjunction with his long fangs, clawed feet, and beast-like fur gives him a distinctly wolf like appearance that makes many uncomfortable and some downright frightened around him. He is fierce warrior but is really a kind though slightly ornery soul.

Powers: He has superhuman strength and agility, similar to Beast. His skin is extremely tough and resistant to damage. His skeletal structure is very strange, featuring a fused ribcage that acts like a wall around his internal organs. His bones are also extremely strong and dense, and not made of pure calcium but rather an alloy-like substance feature calcium, very large deposits of carbon and iron, as well ceramic compounds. In each arm he has a two foot long retractable blade made of a very dense and sharp metal that is weaker then adamantium, but still extraordinary considering its natural placement in his body. he can also channel bolts of lightning from his right hand, which has been tattooed with strange runic markings, which an examination by Dr. Strange purports may have great magical potential. He can also run at up to 50 miles an hour all day and possesses Wolverine level sensory capabilities

Designation-training for X-Calibre

Specialty-Combat, he is being personally trained by the Xmen's arguably most skilled fighter, his adopted father Wolverine. Also seems to Possess an almost intuitive grasp of lore and things arcane.

Shaq if you could once again do the points on this id appreciate it, Im always worried about godmodding and i like the way you did wolverine. I thought X-Calibre which will most likely contain mage type characters could use a strong fighter.

Nocturne

Heres Nocturne, nightcrawler's daughter, i've had to tweak her profile a bit as she was originally from a different dimension lol, so i've posted the one i usually use for her, as i regularily use her to date warfly (I run a series of alternate dimension x-men stories on another site)

Codename: Nocturne

real name: Talia Josephine Wagner, prefers to be called TJ
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ab/Nocturnexcal.png

Bio: Nocturne, the daughter of Nighcrawler and a young witch who died during childbirth. TJ was brought up by her grandparents for several years in america who knew who her father was. She didn't find out until she was 14, her grandparent finally telling her secret at their deathbed.

TJ left for Xaviers school and and soon became a student there, soon passing into the ranks of the X-men, where she became romantically involved with Beast's adopted son, Warfly.

Powers: Superhuman Agility, Hex Bolts (magic), with the potential for basic telepathy, teleportation and further magic.

Designation: X-Calibre

Specialty: Magic. Brought up by magic weilding grandparents, TJ understands the the intracies of magic.

Offensive Uses of Power:

1. Stinging Bolt : 5-20 Can be as small as a pin, this bolt can shoot through keyholes

2. Hex Bolt: 10-100 As wide as her hand, or both, if used togethor.

3. Tail Slash: 10-50 TJ can use her barbed tail as a weapon to slah at her foes.

Defensive Uses of Power:

1. Superhuman Agility: TJ's superhuman Agility can be useful in avoiding attacks, (35% of attacks missing)

2. Hex Bolt: 10-100 As wide as her hand, or both, if used togethor. these can be used to destroy or stop oncoming projectiles.

Feron

Shaq, here's another for X-Caliber. Let me know if he needs to be tweaked.

Name: Feron (No Alias)

Bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feron

Description: At age 24, Feron stands 5’ 6” tall and weighs 125 pounds. He is slightly thin, as most of his training is mental in nature. He levitates everywhere he goes as part of his former training, generally floating twelve to fourteen inches off the ground. He still wraps his feet in bandages in case of accidental contact with the ground, another carryover from his training. He has short-cropped raven-black hair and cobalt blue eyes.

Powers: Magic Use, Levitation, Shape Shifting

Designation: Senior X-Caliber Student, close to graduation.

Following his absorption of his shape-shifting abilities, short stint with the with the Crazy Gang and subsequent reconciliation with Excalibur before their disbandment, Feron came to the Institute at the request of Dr. Strange, who had been watching his development. He has been at the Institute for several years now, and has become much more adept at both his magical abilities and his shape shifting. Professor X hopes Feron will have the confidence to step into a team once he graduates and forget the mental pain suffered when Excalibur failed to search for him following his disappearance. His cockiness has been tempered, but still shows from time to time, especially in the presence of women.

Feron’s powers are mainly defensive, but the few offensive powers he does possess are quite potent as they were groomed to battle Necron.

Offensive Uses of Power:

1. High Energy Bolts (20-60): These high energy bolts are summoned through an incantation and come forth with the shape of lightning from Feron’s hands. They are generally directed at one target and can be used to disrupt electrical signals or equipment.
2. Flame Projection (30-90): This is an area-effect spell that causes a cone of flame, beginning a few feet in front of Feron and traveling out up to 100 yards, to appear and burn those within its bounds. The cone extends can be narrowed or widened up to 180 degrees.
3. Transmutation (20 minimum): The ability to change his physical form has been a challenge for Feron since he acquired the power. He is able to shift his body into the shape of anyone he has recently seen, or into animals. The initial transmutation drains the most energy (20 initial), and the drain continues at the rate of 1 per minute until he either changes back or drops unconscious from the effort. During the change, he assumes the look, weight, and abilities of whatever creature he has transmuted into. If transmuting into another mutant, however, he does gain the physical, but not the mutant, abilities. (Example: He would assume Beast’s strength and agility, but not his intelligence). This ability also lends itself to infiltration.

Defensive Uses of Power:

1. Energy Shield (1-90) Drain is dependent on severity of attack. This shield is effective against all physical and magical attacks.
2. Illusion (5-10): Can create multiple images of himself to confuse an enemy or recreate any being he is familiar with. The illusion of another can be projected on himself (almost as a disguise), or into space (to create a diversion).
3. Magical Binding (20-50): The magical bonds summoned can only be broken when the spell is ended or by uncanny strength. (An angry Hulk could break the bonds with little struggle, but Beast would probably not be able to overwhelm them).

Feron’s levitating ability does not drain him, and has become as much of his daily life as walking is for a normal mutant. His defensive abilities drain only 10% of their value as they have been thoroughly developed. The energy bolts and flame projection drain 20% of their listed value, but receive a 10% damage bonus when used on non-magic users. The transmutation does not receive any reduction. It is very difficult for Feron to change and maintain a foreign form.

Examples: A 50-Point Energy Bolt would drain 10 points from Feron and do 55 points of damage to Cyclops, but only 50 to Dr. Doom.
