Anyone who happened to read the 'tv camercials' thread may have seen my love of the Nike football - [patronising mode] soccer [/patronising mode] Adverts.

A whole 3 minute video of it is on their website nikefootball.com

Anyone who:
a) loves/likes/has a vague interest in football
b) doesn't think its a skillful game
c) has little or nothing to do for the next 15 minutes or more
d) just plain old gives a shit ....should take a look at the ad

besides, the soundtrack is extra cool too

Is it the one with Eric Cantona...?a bloke that was such a good footballer he couldn't even get a place in the French squad.

Indeed you are correct on all counts. He was a great player when France still sucked (early 90s)...

BUT not only did he play in England for Manchester United (a bad move at that point as the French Coaches didnt bother to look outside of 'la belle france') but he also had the temperament of a angry bull surrounded by lots of red... Too many sendings off screwed his chances of being in the French team...

Seems like an excellent signing for Manchester United though.Did he change his name to Roy Keane perchance?Bad temperament, too many sendings off...gotta be the prawn sandwich man

He was a good signing.... too good dammit... I'll never forget the goal he scored that sunk Liverpool (my team) in the FA Cup final in 94... bastardo!

Roy Keane IS Manchester United..... Roy Keane IS Ireland.... without him they're both screwed... though Ireland more than United....

And he was spot-on about the prawn sandwiches

Thanks for bumping this up wyatt... More oppurtunities to spread the glory that is football :D

But do I count as a football fan?I support the mighty Cardiff City.AXA giant killers of the year 2002.Leeds who?My Av. is slightly misleading don't you think?

Sure as hell led me down the garden path....

The mighty silkmen, Macclesfield Town F.C. went out to West Ham in the 3rd round...3-0....got my ticket on the wall to my left...

such a pity... Silkmen even scored a goal that was wrongly disallowed for offside.

We need TV replays!

Don't mind me...just saying thanks for the tip...
I love the those ads :)

Oh yes? Have you ever watched a pirates/western/martial arts film? Do you think the camera cannot lie, or are all those blows actually landing?

I refereed 800 games (admittedly of a real football game, with 15 men and a ball that needs skill to control) and saw videos of many of them and I don't believe anything that one camera sees has any relevance to accurate judgement.

Offside decisions.... the camera is in line with the attacker... we freeze frame at the point he gets passed the ball. Offside - yes or no?

OR we have a guy with a flag running to keep up with play. He sees the ball passed forward. Brain thinks 'ahh... lets look for offside'...man moves head to look at attackers position. man sees situation in real time... bearing in mind that someone like Theirry Henry has a sub-11 second 100 metre time, he can have moved about 2 or 3 yards by the time the linesman sees him. Henry is ahead of the penultimate defender...OFFSIDE! ...or is he?

Are you a Finn or just in Finland?.... either way, Sami Hyypia is a God

A Finn in Finland :)

He is great. And after that I'll keep my silly mouth shut...
I don't follow soccer that much... :)

Well, we need more good players and so on...
"A lone sparrow does not a summer make" as a Finnish saying goes.

Long way to go still, before we have a real chance I think :)

SO - you have one camera every foot along the touchline, or angles will deceive? Remember the man who puts him onside may be thirty yards from the player in question.

with lovely modernday technology, they put a computer-generated line, perpendicular to the sidelines behind the last defender...if the attacker has crossed that line, he was offside
