Official Support Thread - 5th Annual 750 Word Project

Suddenly wrote a second one out of nowhere yesterday. That's the nice thing about these 750 worders. "So light you can write between novels."

It's my first entry in the Trans category. As such, I'd be very grateful if any of the trans members here wanted to give it a quick look over for sensitivity issues. It's an emotional rather than sexual story (and did I mention only 750 words, easy karma and I'd be happy to reciprocate in kind)

I wrote my sixth one, all on the theme of "blizzard," today. I don't know if I'll post them all to Literotica, but they are being combined into one work to be published elsewhere.

Blizzard seems to attract views. Having lived in blizzard country most of my life, blizzards appear in much of my writing.

Written!
This has been a great chance to get back into writing. I've been suffering writer's block recently. Hopefully this will give me the push to get back to longer pieces.
Can't wait to see what people think of it. 750 is a beautiful challenge.

Be prepared for a neutral response from readers - the 750 Word Anthology is more a writers' exercise, many readers don't get the point, and usually want something longer.

I've been working to make sure that each one can be considered a story rather than a simple vignette and with an intro line that explains that the story is exactly 750 words long. I'm going to submit them one by one instead of all at once. Working on #5 now

In a previous story, I mentioned two people stealing of together during a wedding reception. My 750 word story is that scene, so hopefully my readers will still be into it. Also it will be in the I/T category. Hoping to bring those folks in to check out my other stories.

Can we submit our story once it is written or do we have to wait until February 1st? I thought I read submission dates are February 1st - February 28th.

As long as you have the words "750 WORD PROJECT 2023" (without the quotes) in the notes to admin, Laurel should hold it for February 1st. Accidents sometimes happen so I'm going to hold off for the 29th and submit my #1 then.

I submitted mine a week ago, and it's listed for publication Feb 1. Put yours in, and just keep an eye on the date it's supposed to go live.

I was realizing today that the 750 Word Project is likely the only event on Literotica that I'll ever participate in. I just don't write fast or frequent enough to make any other deadline, and once I do finish something, it's not for this site.

Not sure if I should try harder (increase my stress levels) or just accept the situation. I could probably be a decent writer if I had the time and motivation to put into it. :( Sorry, sorry. Just warming the fingers up and clearing the brain this morning.

Finished my third spy piece last night. Trying not to lose myself in another one as there are other things to do. Damn, these 750s are addictive.

You know you can write for any contest at any time, not worry about the deadline, and then just sit on the story until it’s time to submit, right?

Of course. You are entirely correct. If I wasn't so impatient and forgetful, I could do exactly as you suggest. Unfortunately, I am and I am. LOL. Thanks for the advice and interaction, though. :rose:

I wrote my story and finished editing it two weeks ago. This I put it in draft, made a few more edits and forgot about it.

I just clicked "publish" today, with a note to admin to publish it on Feb 1st.

I am the only person in Florida that can spell Saskatchewan on first attempt and more importantly, know what one is.

A hockey coach for an ECHL team I covered years ago would refer to a fictional place called Split Lip, Saskatchewan. Readers thought it was real.

Okay.

It’s just that you were lamenting not having the time and motivation to improve… just pointing out that time is not a factor.

If you added the challenge note to the admin note, they'll hold it automatically. Mine processed in a day and has a post date of 2/1.
