With Washington and Colorado telling the Fed's to STFU and leave us alone, it's more like "Whack a Mole".

How long can he resist the flow?

I don't think he has any desire to resist the flow. He just doesn't want to appear he favors it. So he will tell his justice dept. that he has no interest in prosecuting it. In other words, I don't care and don't cause me problems.

That's what I would do. Washington and Colorado figure out a way to develop tax revenue, you know every other state will jump on the bandwagon.

If you read the artical, yes it is long. you will find the following:

"There are not many friends to legalization in this administration," says Kevin Sabet, director of the Drug Policy Institute at the University of Florida who served the White House as a top adviser on marijuana policy. In fact, the politician who coined the term "drug czar" – Joe Biden – continues to guide the administration's hard-line drug policy. "The vice president has a special interest in this issue," Sabet says. "As long as he is vice president, we're very far off from legalization being a reality."

Say it ain't so. Joe!

the day marijuana is legal in all states, that's when everyone will reunite with one another an get along.

Is this the same article I started reading in Rolling Stone about the people in the DEA having made their career of pot busts don't want to give that up?

I'm going to retire again in about 6 months. I plan to do volunteer work for those in need but I think I'm going to be devoting a great deal of my passionate energy for the legalization of pot against the hard line assholes in the Obama administration.

Right. Is is like lotteries, once sinful they were recognized as a revenue generator and eventually caught on.

As president why get involved. Individual states can carry the ball.

I don't think the states will generate any significant revenue. Pot sales will still be between two private citizens. You think they're going to pay tax on it?

DING!

Give the man a Kewpie Doll!

The War on Drugs is big business. Legalize them and thousands of government employees will be out of work. It will never happen.

There's that, and there's the private prison industry that is raking in mountains of cash on storing people busted with weed.

While you get the bill for both.

I said the same thing to a coworker that brought up a good point. We an impulsive culture. Even though it might be legal to grow plants and cultivate your own, many smokers will opt for the store bought, ready to roll pot. Plus, smoking the shit is a thing of the past! Cookies and drinks and enhanced gummy bears will also be a part of the pot market.

The Feds can either go with the flow on this or not. It is going to be an interesting couple of years.

At some point, fed drug policy needs to get real and consider how the "war on drugs" is working . . .

kinda like the Volstead Act.

My Inner Cynic always figured the "right people" are getting paid.

The War on Drugs is all about hiring more government employees. They can't make a dent in the drug market, and they know it. Enforcement is big business.

And the modern-day Al Capones are rolling in the profits.

And probably making campaign contributions.

When people start shipping goodies from legal states to illegal states the feds will hire a million dogs and handlers to sniff every package!

Is it legal to grow your own tobacco?

Crossing from Colorado to Kansas will take longer than trying to get into (or out of) Canada.
