128 and 686 for this post

128 = number of posts
686 = number of views

Interesting that people will peek into a thread and then leave, especially when it's one like this, easy to post on.

that's a pretty special birthday, for sure.

my sister was born on the same date, but in 57. french bastille day, right?

That is why you and I get along so well. Off with their heads - the revolution never dies.
The only problem is that if you want to eat French on our birthday all the restaurants are closed.

Okay, okay...I don't really have a favorite number, so I usually just use my age. Which would currently make it *thinks to self*
22 :D

French restaurants stay open extra late on *my* birthday. It's my for sister's that they're closed. And yours. So sushi is the order of that day.

What are your thoughts on the number 22? Does it feel any different from...I dunno...19?

What do you think you'll be like at age 44? Do you like double numbers?

God I love sushi - especially giant clam, octopus and spicy scallop hand rolls. Ever had sushi eaten off your bare stomach - I have never done it but it sounds like an idea, may have to skip chopsticks.

When is your birthday?

Do you know that 7 x 13 = 28?
7 x 3 = 21
7 x 1 = 7
21 + 7 = 28

Thank you Abbot and Castello

Do you remember the number that was Doug Adams's answer to the question of the Universe? 26? I don't remember, I could look it up I guess.

I would be inclined to call +infinity and -infinity (doesn't work when I try and post the characters) numbers, just not Real numbers.

I agree. ∞ is not a Real number. I agree that in spirit that it is a sort of number. But, by the strict definitions of mathematics, it is not a number. (Try dividing any number by 0 on a Unix machine sometime - the error you get is "NaN" - "not a number").

The Real numbers are those numbers that are in the union of the sets of rational numbers and irrational numbers. For any two Real numbers a & b there exists some Real number y between a & b. This is because the Real numbers are a continuum, and this is sometimes the set of Real number's name ('C' for "Continuum")

Take 3.1 and 3.11, for example. Between 3.1 and 3.11 there exists another Real number 3.105. Try it with any two numbers.

What is between ∞ and (∞ - 1)? Well, I'm forgetting the math behind it because I am not a mathematician, honestly, though cs is actually a branch of math, so that would mean that I am, but I am not an expert in number theory anyway. But notice that 3.11 - 3.1 = 0.01. What is ∞ - 1? It's ∞.

Oh yeah, try looking at this; it's algebra.

If ∞ is not in the set of Real numbers then what set of numbers contains it?

To do the special characters the pattern is the ENTIRE next line:

&CODE;

i.e. ampersand+CODE+semicolon

Try cutting and pasting the ENTIRE next line (i.e. include the semicolon).

examples-
&
∞
∞ (how I did the line above)
∞ (ad infinitum, so to speak :) )

And here is a huge list of more.

I didn't use any special character codes to get the greek characters. I relied entirely on the posting form of Lit. Here is a clue - it has to do with the FONT option.

Ya know, cocktail, I have a copy of that book somewhere in my office, but I still haven't read it. No one tell me the answer to everything in the universe till I've read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Otherwise it would be kind of anti-climactic.

:(

So, you said that I should tell you the answer to the Universe - well, it is 26. I saved you from all that reading.

As we all know answers are factual - the questions are the important part. Read the book, you will LYAO (is that short for Laugh Your Ass Off?)

Inbox cleaned. It was the first time I ever had to do it.

Buddy, turn that into a number! How many messages does it take to fill up your PM box? For me, it's usually

99

Don't forget to clean out your sent box too.
