Nude Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

image.php

If I can talk my muse into cooperating, I will be entering the contest… My muse, the bitch has left me to struggle with the writing by myself. When she does sober up and returns … The two stories, which are only marginally about nudity, will probably do much better.. In defiance of Scouries, I just submitted my second contest entry. At least it and the first one are completely original, and don't recycle any characters from other stories a la darkboy!

Well, finally a post from another 1000+ VOTE club member, a “best seller” and a TOP 100 “MOST FAVORITED” author! It’s always nice to see great writers like Dr Heat and the boxman joining me in helping to lift the contest from it’s ralphian depths.

And while of course I lament your decision to enter more than one story in this contest I do understand your desire to show the LITEROTICA reading public that these THEMED contests can be more than recycled “Wood” stories, “sour” witchery, “ralphian” pee and wave after wave of Sci-Fi/NonHuman unerotica.

Good luck my good man!!!!

km on sir scouries: You're an intelligent person with an ability to articulate your deep thinking. To semi-quote Kurt Hummel, I hope you don't mind me being honest with you because it comes from a place of respect. …of course she was on crack when she wrote the above…

Ahem, pardon me Sir Scabbies but, just as you missed my 1,200 vote story, written by WmForrester, (me) that now sits in #165th place on the all time list, I Love You Mommy, you haven't acknowledged my story Siblings Get Naked for Nude Day that has amassed more than 1,000 vote in a mere 72 hours and that is the 4th most read story in the past 30 days.

What gives, Scabbies? Why all the hype for everyone else and when I surpassed your personal goals, I'm ignored?

Well no matter. We all know the reason why you bash me, when not ignoring me. You're jealous, jealous, jealous, jealous, jealous.

I have been reading literotica stories for years. Reading this thread and other threads posted by authors always got me thinking. Now, I see literotica stories from a different perspective.

I think "contests" corrupts erotic stories.

Out of curiosity, do you mean contests directly corrupt each submitted story because contests require a theme, or that contests corrupt every single author who writes for them because of the nature of a contest? Those are two different things.

And why the scare quotes around contests?

I don't believe contests corrupt erotic stories. If anything, they make them better, because authors will take longer and write and edit better when there is a prize on the line, or even praise from other authors. :D

They do sometimes lead to a certain amount of bickering among authors. So, vot else is new? If you read the other threads on this forum and others, you will see even more bickering.

Contest? This isn't a contest. A contest is where everyone has the same chance of winning.

This contest (used loosely) is not even a writing contest. This contest (usedly loosely again) has nothing to do with the best writer or the best story winning.

This contest (lol) is a "display" of popularity. It's easy to discern the more popular writers by who routinely wins the "contests" over and again.

Many average writers have won several contests, where many great writers, even though they compete, have never one a single contest and haven't even placed in a single contest.

So, what does that tell you? It tells me, whomever has the most votes, the most people voting for them, and/or the most computers at their disposal wins.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't miss a contest for anything. I love them. Just writing the story and writing so many great stories, if I write so myself, makes me winner.

For the record, I agree with Boxlicker. Contest makes for more and better stories. Without theme contests we'd have more of the same, old stories.

I only wish that everyone wrote more than one or two stories and tried writing six or seven stories in all different categories.

I wonder why can't we vote on little ralphies story?

…written by WmForrester, (me)

Oh fuck! Now he’s pretending to be somebody else.

As you well know ralphie from all your continous whining plaints made over the years, the wondrous Gabby checks every claim of 1000 votes made by a potential club member before he can be admitted. And in all the years that she’s been Secretary-General of the club only four authors have had their false claims correctly rejected.

I’m not going to list these nefarious cheaters publicly but I’m relatively certain that my dear Gabrielle will soon have a fifth name to add to the list.

I did notice this a.m. that we were all blessed by another offering from your mighty pen – and couldn’t help but notice that you’ve already turned off voting.

Willing to hog contest space but afraid to let the LITEROTICA reading public judge you? “Ohhh mommy, I entered the big, bad contest but I don’t want all those meanies to vote on my story”…

So what do you do? You jump the line but aren't willing to face the music. You chicken-shit! Be a man for once…

If only it were so boxy! Yes, for famous, “favorited” authors like you or I your statement holds true. But unfortunately we have the ralphies of this world. These ralphies who flood each and every contest with unread and unedited stories.

It almost makes one cry to read the first half page of ralphies first Nude Day story. And shudder to think what will come next. If the first story he foisted on us was his best what will the twentieth be like? Of course we won't be able to vote on it

No one "enters" scouries fake contests. He just steals the stories from the REALNude Day contest and says people entered his fake one.

So:

DON'T BE FOOLED.

All his "Contests" are Fake.

I usually go with just one entry and let that stand by itself, but I use these contests to build a readership more than put money in my pocket. If I have another story that might fit the theme, I'll consider putting it in but it isn't a priority, that is what the Survivor contest is for.

He doesn't actually steal them; he just borrows them and pretends they have been entered. Under some alt or other, he usually wins the "prizes" which are non-existent, so he never has to pay them out from the imaginary royalties he collects from Lit.

Same here. I broaden my readership. The feedback often provides me with helpful criticism and advice. I strengthen my own writing skills and gain confidence in my writing. The themed contests force me to complete my stories. Not to mention the inspiration derived from the themes themselves and from the variety of stories. Plus, the connections and networking I make over here on AH and with my readers is wonderful! :)

My entry Rescuing Sophie has been posted within 24 hours of hitting the 'submit' button.

Non-Consent is a new category for me.
(edited for: Oops! No it's not. I forgot Late Shopping, probably because I should have written it for fetish.)

I'm trying to be diligent in reading all the entries. I vote, but don't comment on all. (I don't do very well with comments) I'll try to get to the new ones this afternoon. Can't wait to read yours.

Without exception, I dare write that I am the only writer mistreated on this site and I don't know why. Can someone please tell me why whenever I post a story whether it's a contest story or not that it's shit canned to the bottom of the pile?

Today, my story didn't post with the other contest stories. When it did finally post, it was only listed on my page. Then two hours later it was listed on the Nude Day board. Now, hours later, it still doesn't show up on the new story page. This isn't the first time either and I'm sure it won't be the last.

I wrote Laurel and she'll fix it, post it to the board, but I've already lost have a day of reads and votes.

No one else here is mistreated so unfairly. I don't understand. Maybe someone can enlighten me. Is it because I just write too many fucking stories on a fucking story site?

Oh, I know, I remember now, I may those posts yesterday about these contests being popularity contests and not writing contests.

I don't know who posts the stories, if it's Laurel herself or one of the moderators, but, whoever it is should treat all writers who write here for fucking FREE equally.

Ah, there, I feel better now. I need to edit my next story to post for tomorrow.

Boxy, boxy, boxy … the boss usually wins all the prizes? C’mon man! Look at the number of different authors who’ve won A.I.R. Prizes. And look at who they are – just look at how many of LITEROTICA’S ‘Favorite Authors’ have won. It’s a who’s who of erotic writing. And A.I.R. ALWAYS sends out its prizes in a timely matter – I’m in charge of that!

I believe you owe my wonderful boss and I an apology.

I haven't had a story post at midnight for over a year. Contest, non-contest, it doesn't matter. All three pen names. The earliest anything is posting is 2 am, and it isn't hitting the New list until hours later. More than one hasn't gone up until after noon. I've had stories vanish from the New list for hours at a time on a fairly regular basis.

The whole Earth Day contest, your stories were pretty much the only ones going up early enough to register votes/views/score on the first day of posting.

If anything, you're having far better luck with regards to what time your stories post than anybody else. What you're complaining about on this single story is something the rest of us have been grumbling about and grudgingly accepting for a long time now on every story. I've posted about it numerous times. I'd much rather wait another full 24 hours and post at midnight, but it is what it is.

I'm going to ( god knows why ) give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't know about this. You're more or less playing the martyr to a pile of bodies.

Whine, whine, whine...

You know exactly what you did ralphie!

You tried to pull a moonman by turning the voting on, then off, then on again. Our fair QUEEN wasn't amused at your attempted trickery and you were punished.

You're lucky she didn't kick you out of the contest.

Although you know what? I believe she just might have another surprise for you when the final SURVIVOR results for 2011 are added up.

Remember, she can be quite tricky herself...

Same here. I've wondered if those posting at midnight are from new contributors that the editor has given more scrutiny to because they are new. But I haven't checked that out.

I've also had stories post to my list but not the board and have had to message Laurel. (I've also had the body of someone else's text post to my title and name.) With as many stories going through daily as there are, it's a surprise there aren't more glitches than there seem to be.

You think you are put near the bottom more than SamuelX is? That's not my impression.

It would be good marketing for a Web site like this to put the more marketable material first. Perhaps that's what Lit. does.

No, they're not. At least, mine aren't. My most recent contest entry posted at midnight Eastern Time, which is 9PM PDT. Thay's not a complaint, because it was still less than 24 hours after submission.

It's not unusual for me to check my index in the morning and see the most recent posting is the following day. From experience, I know that means it will post at 9PM that same night. :)

Usually, I make a point of going to the index at 9PM and watcing it post. It doesn't happen right before my eyes, of course, but I look at the "Pending" listing, go away and return immediately and see it says "Approved."

If Scouries, SamuelX and I posted non-contest stories on the same day, the three of us would post at the bottom of the list.

Souries would post ahead of me, then me, and then SamuelX.

That is a fact.

So, underneath all of that you're saying you're not the most disadvantaged, as you claimed?

I don't think it would ALWAYS be that way, but I can understand why it sometimes is.
