Normal haunt kinda slow tonight

Hi linux, I'm just getting here so I don't know what's going on yet.

I like the moon phase in your sig line. I was just out and it is a clear sky - it looked terrific.

hello.

we are fairly clear here too. Now if I could just manage to get away from the light pollution.

I understand that - I don't have to travel too far to be away from the lights, I'm pretty lucky.

I figure the best would be to either be up the side of a mountain or have a boat that is ocean worthy.

Both places are quite nice.

I noticed you have some neat sites in your sig line..... you seem to be a weather watcher and thensome. I'm one of those weirdos that watches the weather channel - but here in New England weather is a major topic of discussion.

Had a bit go on weatherwise around these parts... Charlie, Frances, & Jeanne.

Always had an interest in the weather. Love to sit back and watch lightning shows. However, the hurricanes were just special.

Last season sure was out of the ordinary it seemed - I hope you were safe throughout the siege.

We get some rather odd weather patterns here, I'm south of Boston and in this 20 mile radius (give or take) things can get interesting. This winter we've had lots of ocean effect snow - more then usual. In the late fall each year is when we seem to get the very out of the ordinary storms.

Good to see ya neighbour!

Blue was just having some fun since I was actualy off earning my pay. Was kinda funny to watch when I did finally get back on line.

For the 1st two I was doing radio duty in Red Cross shelters. The third one I got stuck at work babysitting servers cause my boss didn't want to do it a 3rd time.

hmmm... don't hear much about ocean effect snow when they report northern weather to us down here. The big stories are always about the lake effect snow. Or shocking us with the multicar pileups due to whiteout or ice.

I was quite amazed to learn recently that blizzards are basically winter hurricanes.

Had me wondering for a while, I'll admit. What, with the sig line thingy and all...
~kym~ I was soooo !

So you were banded for a time huh? Here in Boston that is an honor.

Hi Kym....nice to see you. ;)

I think what got me laughing the most was seeing LT fall for it.

Blizzards are sure interesting - we had one a few weeks ago, they usually come late January to early Feb. This past one was one of the top 5 for us. We got about 30 inches here, winds equally a cat. 1 hurricane. Then a few days later we got another storm that lasted 3 days with ocean effect snow - added another foot or so. Ocean effect snow is the same as lake effect, it's just that our 'lake' is a bit bigger. lol

Hi Kym....nice to see you. ;)

Bluesboy2 started a thread implying Laurel had banned me from Lit. It was amusing to read through. Almost like getting to attend your own wake.

Evening Linux, Cate & Kym

Does seem a bit slow around here tonight...wonder whats up?

Kym..I haven't come across you in a long time...Loved your Cheeky women thread!

Cate..I hope this day has been a good one for you:rose:

I figure the length of individual blizzards would be the thing that makes them special. Being secluded in the shelter for 3 days for Frances was a pain, but at least after she passed we could drive off to see what was left our homes or just get out to see what she had done. I presume the snow and subfreezing temps after a blizzard keeps the number of sightseers to a minimum.

It can be resticting, but only for a few days now. It isn't all that common to be stuck too long now a days - people just don't stay put. Although they flock to the grocery store before hand as if they won't be out for a week.

This last one started late on Saturday and ended late Sunday - and I was out on Monday afternoon. You know us northers.... we don't stop for long. lol

yeah, he's a trip. Quite a few from TX are. May have to try and wander up that way when they do one of their big get togethers.

He is a trip I agree, not a bad trip just a trip. (Don't want to get him going you know?)

There are some great Texas folks here, I've 'met' a few myself, all are very nice.

yeah, if I were up there, I'd probably be the same way. The NY blood in me would probably have me playing in the snow.
