Vella, sure, I'd be flattered.

It was a great performance, the singers, orchestra, conductor, all. At the intermission I bought my usual glass of Champagne and went to the outdoor balcony to smoke. As I was looking for my lighter a gentleman came up to me and offered me his. Gosh, I cannot remember the last time a man lit a cigarette for me. I love that. I thanked him and he walked away, so after a couple drags I went up to him and asked how he liked the first act. He knew music and opera well, it was a lovely conversation. He seemed around 65-ish, an old-fashioned type gent. The finale was great, I got a cab right away and now I cannot sleep.

Perdita

Oh - that is positively beautiful.

I love the way it feels to be on your way home from a wonderful concert, swamped with emotions evoked from the music (hopefully the performers were skilled so critical thoughts haven't spoiled those sensations). You get home, kick off your too-high heels, remove those expensive earrings you save for the symphony, play one of the pieces you heard at the concert on the stereo, lay back on the couch still wearing your concert finery, close your eyes, breathe, relive the performance.

*sigh*

Music is life, isn't it?

Thanks for the appreciation Sarahh, makes me feel like you were part of my evening. Music has virtually saved my life a few times.

(Wish I had been there!)

I've just been reading the 'gun thread'.......too paranoid for me. Time for a gin.

I'm wondering where she is now she left without a word, not an uncommon thing for her and I understand the situation but I still worry. I've got to go now anyhow and eat yet another small meal then it's off to bed. God

Feel better Des, I need to go get smokes, Perdita smoked them all for me (bless her) and everyone here nodded off except the dog. My head hurts.

I want to thank whoever posted the 10th vote to my poem. Of course I got trolled immedately afterwards, but hey, you can't have everything.

time for a comfort song

Summertime,
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high

Your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry

One of these mornings
You're going to rise up singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky

But till that morning
There's a'nothing can harm you
With daddy and mamma standing by

Summertime,
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high

Your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry

That's a good comfort song. Makes me think of my mother doing laundry, of all things. (She would sing while doing the laundry)

That may have been me (the 10th vote, not the troll).

Glad you're in the voting scoring race now, anyway!
