Marsipanne said:I have some questions for all you history buff literoticans out there. I've started writing a piece of erotica (my first!!) and it's 7500 words so far. It's set in Renaissance Italy and is romance. Problem for me: I know teeny bit of info about renaissance italy (a few documentaries, three novels set in that time)
Questions:
1.I read somewhere that outside of city-states there were big pieces of land governed by a 'noble' of some sort. Would these people have titles and what kind? E.g. duke, baron etc.
2.What kind of food did they eat? Did they have 'normal' bread or non-yeast bread like they have in pizza?
3.Anybody know how the Medici organised their armies??
I really should do all this research myself, and I've done a little on the internet but it's yielded surprisingly little. Most of the stuff's about art and the patrons and the big feuds between Sforzas Medici etc. (aren't these names cool?!!). These little things about food etc. I can't find.
Anybody help?

Gracias, hombre. Can't recall the thread but there was a multiplicity of posts arguing for and against it being JM. I thought not (the nose and mouth do not match). "Just some model" - cool.Remec said:Someone said it reminded them of Jim Morrison, but I didn't see anything on the site that would make me think it was anything more than just some model.
Agreeing with the goosling. It deserves its own thread. For something like this, you might want to try giving it its own thread. Likely to get lost among the nonsense in here!

Anyway we of course got lost despite her claim that she knew the way back to the hotel. SO we're driving around and I'm not saying anything because I know better than to start with her. We stop and ask from directions from possibly the oldest alchoholic alive I can smell his breath from the passanger's seat he tells us the directions which by the way are go down the street and take a left at the next corner then follow the one way street and take a right. Needless to say that those are the directions that lead in a square. So we drive onward eventually getting stopped by the cops who claimed that she was doing 6 mph over the legal limit. Which as he said called for a ticket apparently speeding tickets have gone way up since the late 90's which was the last time I saw one. I was pretty sure Renza would leap out of the car and cause bodily harm to the officer who BTW was a huge dick . She took the ticket and told him to go to hell and made an inappropriate hand gesture. Which of course prompted the officer to tell her to step out of the car. Then he wanted to search the car, then he wanted to know if we had been drinking which of course she hadn't been and I hadn't for at least two hours since that's how long we were driving around. He also asked if we had indulged in any unsavory or illegal activity. Renza ma wanted to know if anal sex was illegal in the state of new york. The officer didn't think it was at all funny although I couldn't stop laughing. Which of course made the wife laugh. He gave her a breathalizer to make sure she wasn't drunk he claimed. Finally he let us go with the ticket and told us to enjoy the holiday. After which we stopped at a pizza hut. I don't eat fast food and so I sat while she ate. The waitress was a lovely young girl who gave us the directions to the hotel (she even wrote them down with a little map on an order slip. I gave her a 50$ tip and if I'd have had any more cash I would have gladly given it to her. All in all it was an okay weekend
