If anyone had asked me as recently as yesterday if I believed in god I may have hemmed and hawed and gone into theology. I even might have spoken of my faith in a god like entity while still questioning the existence of a God who could bring on so much pain and still create a sunset beautiful enough to bring tears to my eyes. However ask me today and the answer would be an unequivocal yes. Last night my wife fell, an event that may not seem life altering except for the fact that she’s nearly six months pregnant, She slipped in the bathroom and hit the tile floor hard. I couldn’t breathe when I went in and saw her laying there her head had just barely missed the tub but she appeared fine. Still I demanded that she join me in a visit to the emergency room. Both mother and baby are fine, and I ‘ve got a whole new take on God and prayers

I'm very pleased to hear everything is ok. Even though everything was OK, I think you are right to have it checked out. It is certainly true it is possible to overreact but better to overreact and waste time than underreact and regret it.

Please be careful out there. Here we have a child we know is going to be raised with love and without a lot of the stupid prejudices and bullshit. Our future needs your child.

Well, in a few minutes I'm off to see my daughter's high school jazz band concert. They're actually very good.

This brought to mind a question. I'm in my late forties and I hear lots of people saying "Oh, if I could just be a teenager again."

Personally, I remember high school and it wasn't one of the high times of my life.

Does anyone really remember their late teens as being one of the happiest times of their lives. Personally, for me I might pick m early twenties in college, but not my teen years in high school.

My daughter, unlike either myself or my wife, is one of the more social people in high school, and even she had nights she is just miserable from school.

High school? Show me someone whose life peaked at high school and I'll show you someone who was part of the problem for everybody else. If I were required to choose, I'm not sure I wouldn't choose a stretch in a women's prison over going to high school. After all, I've been to high school.

For example, my "I tremble..." illustrated poem has 20 votes and a rating of 4.45 right now.

That means that the total of all votes is 89, since 89/20=4.45

If my 21st vote brings the average to 4.29, I know it was a 1, because 89+1=90 and 90/21=4.29

If that 21st vote brings the average to 4.48, I know it was a 5, because 89+5=94 and 94/21=4.48
