After a long summer the new football season starts Sunday at last. I know you all think i'm not 100% but i'm talking about the football where they play the ball with their feet. Better known to most of the people on the board as soccer.

Just to inform everybody: AJAX will win three prices this competition. Last competition they won two.

What three prizes?

im looking forward to the FOOTBALL season also ... not talking about american football

Ajax do look a good team this season i agree with you but i dont think my team will be playing ajax ... crystal palace :)

does 3 include the champions league ?

The championship, the national cup and the champions league (that last i am less sure off although they did beat Manchaster and Barcelona last weekend)

The Championship and the national cup OK.

The Champions league, no way.

You don't have the strength in depth of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barca or even Man Utd.

Ajax will struggle to get out of the group stage. Mind you so will Arsenal, in all probability!

i think they have got a chance infact they are my dark horse pick to win the champions league they do have a really good team this year ajax are back to being ajax again ... they have a great coaching team there now

i do think its unlikely they will win but who knows

Ok i admit the team is young and unexperienced, but strange things happen...

Everyone in the competition has a chance s-g but it's usually the teams with the big strong squads that triumph.

Ajax are a good young side but before they grow into a champions league winning side they will probably have to sell their best players as they have over the years.

Good coaching has always been their forte. Their teams play exactly the same style whether it be in the champions league or the under thirteens.

I'd love to see a renaissance in Dutch club football but finances suggest it is unlikely.

Oh, shit, wrong thread. Sorry.

TB4p

That's OK, wont hold it against you.

This time.

Ajax just won their first price. They won the game against PSV 3-1.

Thats nr 1, few to go from here (3?)

palace won on the weekend too im going to goto a game probably next weekend againsts portsmouth

I always had a soft spot for Palace.

They used to employ good managers and skilful players.

Their financial probity was, however, shit! The need a good accountant (preferably not Arthur Anderson) as much as they need decent players now.

Still, where there's life there's hope.

I just confiscated the company tickets so i'm going to the first official match of the season. Keep you posted. Hope you will tell me about your team too.

we got ripped off by the last owner but simon jordan seems a lot better and a bit more sensible we're building up a good set of young players now rather then old players on huge wage bills

Bummer is that the young players will be bought by big teams with lots of cash.

safe bet for any gamblers out there.

cardiff will be going up this season to the 1st division

(and there is a faint hope in my heart that they will also get to the FA cup final while it is still being held here in cardiff)
