I'm looking for a female writer to write the female side of my story.

I want to work with someone, in confidence, to help tell this story.

Essentially I have the overall head canon, but I want to do the women justice.

Please IM me here on the forum if you're interested in this collaboration.

Mahalo.

You know there are dating aps.... Right?
Even here on lit there are personals....
Why not go there?

I worried someone would interpret it that way. This is only what I said. I'm looking for nothing more.
I'll take your word on it, but there is a request like this several times per year. Thus there are always suspicions about such posts.

Just for the hell of it, try an experiment: write a story with a female narrator. Don't worry about "getting it right;" just see what happens. You may ask, "How do I do that?" I guess like everything else on Lit: make it up.

Erm...before eveyone piles on, it does actually appear that this request has worked. MasteredAgain has replied and while I don't know the content of her PM or whether it will result in a beautiful partnership, initial contact has been made.

If such requests worked fir their suspected “true” purpose, then I think we’d be seeing them several times per week.

Okay, it's their business in however way they wish to handle it. Last year there there were two such requests in about a week, and the piling on became a sort of hobby on AH. There had to be over 200 responses on one of the threads. Although, that many responses is common on a lot of other threads too. (Although the most "talkative" board I know of is The Playground section of Personals, where responses can come in every thirty seconds or so.)

I shouldn't even speculate on the motives behind much of what is on social media. For better or worse, with the Internet social relations are faster and arguably more opaque than they once were.

I haven't received a reply yet, but I will help Coyote Howard with writing if there's a fit.

Don't worry about me I'm a big girl and have dealt with my share of unsolicited proposition PM's. My standard reply, as always, come back after you leave a comment on one of my stories showing you’ve read it. Batting a thousand on that one.

I believe I replied via email. Let me know if you didn't get it ma'am, and I'll resend.

I'm really curious what you think a real life actual female will add to your story that any old decent author wouldn't.

My female characters are perfect. None of that breastfed boobily down the stairs nonsense. Here's an excerpt from my magnum schlongus, The Vergina Momologues. (To set the scene, she's a woman) She perioded down the stairs and flew to work on her flights of fancy. Fortunately the kitchen wasn't a long flight. Quarter to seven and nearing forty, her clock was ticking, so she unscrambled some eggs and stuck a bun in the oven. Soon, her offspring would awaken so she brewed a pot of coffee just the way he liked it and lightened it with a few pumps of breast milk just the way his wallet liked it, for she was a frugal, frugal woman.

In all seriousness, IMO the trick to writing genders isn't to write a man and genderswap. It's to consider that setting's expectations for that gender and write how your characterization fits (or doesn't fit) into that role.

It's less important on Lit where it's mostly about the fun anatomical bits. But for the story part of it, that's how I do it.

Which is something I want to get right.

In this series it's important to have a woman suddenly have power... how she'd handle that.

Seems like she'd handle that power exactly how she'd been raised to view power. There's nothing inherent in a women where they'd handle power differently. It's not a nature VS nurture scenario. It's just nurture, which makes it a worldbuilding question, not a woman question.

What are some details about your world, your character, and the plot? That's something the forum can better help you with.

I obviously don't know the details of your story, but I would say unless gender politics are central to your theme, don't worry so much about how women in general would handle the situation you've set up; just consider how your character would handle it. People respond to circumstances as individuals, not as representatives of their gender/race/whatever else.

She'd probably yell at the top of her voice, toss her axe in the air, and daub herself with blood as she stood over the slaughtered mammoth. At least that's my experience

For much of my life I’ve been trying to sound and present more ‘manly’ than I naturally do. Now I wish I’d let go of that years ago. 😊

They are.

It can be complicated. I feel like I know my limitations, and in this case I want to do these women justice.
