I don't claim to have ALL the answers, just LOTS of answers. Sometimes I can even match them up with questions, but I don't even amanage that all the time.

K-monster, I don't do snakes. (shudders) You'll have todownload IrFanview and resize those yourself.

harold im going to annoy you again! i saved some pics after i resized them with irfanview but it changed them to bmp files and lit wont accept them as avatars. how do i change them back to jpeg? is it even possible?

Irfanview has a "batch conversion" feture that will let you change (actually copy) every bmp in a folder to a JPG.

When you save a picture in IrFanview, make sure you select the type you want it saved as before you click OK.

I'm pretty sure that there is a place to set the default file type to save as, but I don't remember where that is -- whether it's just the last type used, or a specific setting in the preferences.
