I understand why most folks seem to think #15 is Shang ... and I believe it's as much setting as style. I don't understand what it is about #12 that screams "Colly" to everyone. I mean, there's not a single loose=lose in the entire piece.

Questions:

  • How do you feel about being identified (or not) by your writing style/voice?
  • Will being pegged by your prose change the way you write? If so, how and why?
  • How will being mistaken for somebody ELSE make you feel? Flattered? Horrified? Amused?

I have been identified by a reader or two, presumably because of my voice. I don't see me changing. I looked back over my submissions here, going back to 2000, and my style, voice, call it what you will, has changed very little. At least I think so. The only times I have consciously changed it were for my Talisman Chain story, where I was trying for a feel of circa 1825, and my 'Kajira' story. This was set in author John Norman's 'Gor' universe, and I found myself imitating his voice. As for being mistaken for someone else - at least amused, and quite possibly flattered, depending of course on who!

I'm very conscious of the fact that I don't do nearly enough reading. I'm having a hell of a problem trying to identify who's who. Guesses later, maybe . . .

Sly bitch! I never even considered that you'd entered one. Right, I need to re-think...

OUCH! :p
I snuck in under stealth mode, submitted and ran ....LOL.
Good Luck........twat. :p

I don't appear to be "fooling" many, but that's brilliant, because it means my writing does have a distinctive voice. Or, as Shanglan said, is it the content? Mix of both? I suppose my voice and the content I tend to write all goes into my making up my "signature style".

I'm just so

I wonder whether it's the style or the content, though. *ponder* Or possibly also the timing.

*ponder* ;)

I just look forward to the next topic. This time I snipped out of my novel; next time I'll be sure to choose something whose setting offers a bit more of a challenge ;)

Me neither but the knowledge points to a resolution.

My voice seems hidden
