• How will being mistaken for somebody ELSE make you feel? Flattered? Horrified? Amused?

Personally, I'm always stunned when someone "feels me" in an anonymous post. It's not that I don't think I have a particular style/voice -- because I know I do -- but rather that someone has taken the time to read enough of my work to recognize "an Imp" when they read it.

I too would feel flattered that someone has read enough of my smut to have a feel for my writing.

Can't see why it would.

I think all the autiors who have posted here are very talanted people and I would be flattered to be mistake for any of them. How they would feel about being mistaken for ME, now that's another matter.

  I would want to be identified. It would be a sign that my writing has a distinctive style, and that people read it! I really don't understand what is the point of trying to disguise your voice in an exercise such as this.

  No, unless I'm pegged for all the bad reasons and someone is kind enough to tell me so.

There are a couple ways that I think anyone should be able to spot my snippet here. Some may have some may have got it right just on a guess. Doesn't bother me one way or another.

Being "pegged" by my style won't change the way I write, but I try to do new things with every story anyway.

I find a lot of the guesses amusing, especially since a few people have put my name to cloudy's piece and hers to mine. And I find it even more amusing that, having said that, there will be a bunch of people looking back through the thread for the posts that have us listed and trying to figure it out by that.

We have both been amused by the fact that in her latest, unfinished, story, I wrote a fair sized section to help get her past a place she was having trouble with. The people who have previewed the story never noticed.

If the guesses are right If 15 isn't Shang, then I think it says a lot more about what we have all come to expect as readers of certain writers, than it does about the voice of those writers.
