Name that Voice guessing thread

I did go back and read some people, but then the number of participants took a big jump, and I realized I'd need to read such an enormous number of them that I just quit.

Right now, there are clues, or clews, within the discussion here, enough to construct a list of twelve or so participants who have confessed to participating. And I was going to do it like that. But it seemed to me to be a cop out. The point is not to guess, but to recognize the people.

For that, I would gladly read them. But I can't be arsed to read sixty or so AH authors all at once. I need a list of participants. I'm not going to use other sorts of clues than the writing itself.

Show of hands. How many went back to read authors' material (or plan to do so) in order to formulate their guesses?

(I think that, perhaps, is the coolest part about this voice/style endeavor!)

I am enormously flattered to be mistaken for those I've been mistaken for. (Grammar be damned.) Of course, with this list of participants, that's pretty much a given. :D

Me - and I'm reading more between bouts of editing. This is the damn best puzzle game in a long time. I'm also voting as I read, people are getting a lot of mileage out of this.

Okay -- how much time would you need in between the posting of the participant list and the last call for guesses?

AND -- in order to be eligible for the FINAL round of guesses, folks HAVE to submit a complete list of preliminary guesses BEFORE the participant list is posted. Otherwise, they're not eligible to "win." Sound fair?

We can have a preliminary guess winner and a post-participant list winner. Eh?

I am so close to the way Charley is thinking on this. Makes me feel good about myself; I've always admired Charley.

I'd be scared.

Imp: Just say that submissions will be closed by the end of today and put the list up tomorrow morning. Keep to the week's timetable, rather than extending it.

Oh, and wildcards - definitely a good idea. Otherwise those of us who contributed will have trouble not guessing their own.

I'd say one day should be plenty at that point. Everything else seems fair.

There are still outstanding submissions -- or at least, folks who have told me they intended to participate.

But, I will close submissions at midnight GMT tomorrow (Monday). (That's 7pm eastern time.)

Then, allow 24 hours for everyone to get their preliminary guess cards completed. So the participant list will be posted at midnight GMT on Tuesday. ANYONE CAN GUESS -- NOT JUST THE PARTICIPANTS! (Preliminary guess cards that are edited after the participant list is posted will be disqualified.)

Folks will then have until midnight GMT Friday to read (and please, if you're reading, vote & PC/feedback) and post their final guess cards.

The winner gets ... what? To moderate the next voice challenge? Preferred parking at ABSTRUSIONS for a week? Head? 5-bombs on the story of his/her choice?

That gets my vote. Moderate, or if not interested in doing so, pick the moderator.

BT, that was a very brave post.

Hehehe. :D

I do have colleges to prepare, classes to give, house to clean. LOL
Why don't we have more than 24 hours in a day?

:( :D

By the way, I have been reading some people to get an idea of their writing.

I've just re-written mine, filled it out and submitted it to Lit. I only hope it doesn't post before Imp announces whose piece was whose. Doubtful. :)

Lou, the story I submitted Sunday has been approved - looks like there are not too many submissions at the moment. ;)

I only know one for sure, and nobody has come even close. lmao, this is sweet. :D  Can't wait to find out a couple other ones though.
Oh, and I didn't write one but thanks, I think, Charley. :p
