Naivete

Know what you mean. It can be a bitch without a thesaurus though. Some many words to read through.

What's a thesaurus? Nevermind, I'll look it up myself.

Ending the war was the only thing he would have accomplished. The rest of his platform was ridiculous.

So, if you didn't vote for Georgie....does that mean you voted for.....(I'll let you say it). :D

Yeah, I did. But not the first time. :D

Cheyenne, that was very well said.

Thank you. To be honest, I think the simple statement by that teacher is one of the most important things I learned in high school. He had another good day where he said something else I never forgot. He looked at all the 17 and 18 year olds with makeup caked on their faces (blue eye shadow was popular in 1974.) He told us that none of that make up was needed, because we all had the beauty of youth. Makeup was meant for old women who were trying to get their look of youth back. When you already have beauty, why cover it up? Of course, none of the girls listened to him at the time. I never was a big makeup wearer. And I never became one, either. Maybe I like to believe I still have the beauty of youth and I don't need the help. THAT may be where I'm personally naive. ;)

In Canada, making fun of another's university is considered standard operating procedure.

And I know Costa Rica has some substandard professional schools....but I'm not so familiar with American Law Schools except the one mine used to kick to the curb in hockey and debating every year...harvard.....and I can't imagine Lav is there based on the amount of time she spends here.

So, CRU it is!

Was I bad?

Lance that was just plain mean.

And unwarranted.

You can disagree with her all you want.
but dont insult her by inferring she is not intelligent enough to be in an American based law school.

Condescending and insulting all at once. A rare gift.

Siren, you have your definitions mixed up.

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or information that a person in that position SHOULD have.

Naivete is a lack of knowledge simply because that person has a lack of experience. Naivete is cute on some people. Ignorance is never cute.

Yes, there's Haughty 101, Superior Attitude 200, Audit Trail Coverup Tricks 300...

Andersen....not son. Drives em crazy there. Er...'drove". :)

Both are curable afflictions. Stupid and bigoted are irreversible.

Excellent response, Chey.

Lav, and I mean this without malice, I get the feeling from your last post that you are more vested in defending your position on this topic than listening to what others are saying on this thread.

Thank you. I've told Lavy before that I see a lot of me, at her age, in her. There isn't anything wrong with being young and passionate.

I hope Lavy does print this thread, seal it in an envelope and mark it with the date of her 40th birthday to open it then. She will get a kick out of it, I promise. Maybe a tear or two, also, remembering the joys of being young.

Actually I think varying degrees of "intelligence" and "stupidity" are the elephants in this room that everyone chooses to ignore.

Siren said:
not having enough knowledge in making a judgment is also naivete..........
to think a certain way, with out all the information is to be naive.

Otherwise, why tell someone they are naive, when their belief and their ideas are based on different knowledge than yours.

Ignorance often has to do with being ill informed.........mis informed, not by failing to have information.

Siren, you are quite possibly misinformed regarding the meaning of these two words.

edit: I was watching the news and missed Texan's reply.

well call me naive Texan.

I'd rather call you "cute". But alas, all I have is that AV pic upon which to base my opinion, so I remain ignorant....... or is that naive....... hell, I can't remember....... now that's senile....

No, there's sarcastic 304, and experience 502. Oh, I forgot project takeover 103. (They really were so unsophisticated at that) I always got on a lot better with E-Y or Price. ;)

We don't want to get into "The Bell Curve" here do we?

Shouldn't it say something to you about me, that there are about 10 posters all about 40+ who are sitting in here going at a female who is 26.

How naive do you truly think I am compared to my peers? If you thought I was as naive, as you seem to be insinuating, you wouldn't be wasting your time.

Think about what I'm saying about how you treat people with condescension for age, and look at what you've said in this thread.

My point has been proven.

We like you, or we wouldn't bother with you. :)

And I think it is our point that has been proven. But we know you won't listen yet, because WE didn't listen at your age, either!

Print the thread. Seal it and open it on your 40th birthday. You'll remember me (and the rest of the geezer club) fondly at that point in your life. :rose:

Lavender, on most subjects, I treat you as a respected peer. And there are subjects that I avoid with you because you can rip me apart. But when you post a thread about naivete and then proceed to tell everyone that disagrees with you that they are being "condescending", what do you expect?

Also, I had just noticed that all the other "younger" people had dropped out of this thread pretty fast. I admire your courage to stand in there in the face of a bunch of old-timers.
