For those of us who want to have an independence in our beliefs and an open but sensitive approach to our relationships, in which we see diverity as a good thing and people having dis-similar opinions to our own as a benefit, there does not seem to me any particular religion which does the trick.

So I want to stay catholic because I am one, but I fancy being Bahai too. A lovely, lovely girl in Grenoble persuaded me about that. And now that Black_Bird has taught me how to spell Buddhist, I'll be that too. Rasta, of course, but I'm a bit wary of smoking too much dope because it frizzes up your hair - otherwise Ok. I just like to keep mine wavy. Hinduism because of Ghandi, must be on the list.

Then I can be properly a multifarian. No priests, no gurus - or just a transitory phase on the path to enlightenment.

Anyone else want to be a mutifarian?

Oh, the important question. Who do we fight? I don't know, any ideas?

No,

I'm a born-again, non-practicing, non-denominational, southern buddhist...

I believe the path to enlightenment lies in Hedonism...

SEEK THE LIGHT!

Of course it does SIN and Epicureanism too. Dhalgren is welcome since she's magic.
We need loads of the woman.

Does this religion then offer you 72 virgins if you die during the throes of love-making?

Can I worship Cheese? :D

Only goats, cow and ewe's cheese, every day of the week.

Yak and Lama cheese is reserved for Wednesdays - but if you've got a good dealer any day's ok.

Are you in B-B? You might pull in a few women for us.

If I ever get to 1000 posts, I will
proudly flaunt my religion as a...

Born Again Hedonist

Cheddar, curds whey etc. Welcome NoRegrets, SIN has initiated you - just the chicks now. Any ideas - an ad in Lit Personals?

What do you think?

Multifarian Gurus seek horny chicks for one night stands.

Is it too pluralistic?

Should read...

Multifarian Gurus seek horny chicks for one night raptures.

Great improvement SIN, it's easy to lose the spiritual depth we are all seeking.

The Aths are gonna have their way, tonight!
The Mults are gonna have to pay, tonight.
We said okay no rumpus, no tricks,
But just in case they jump us, we're ready to mix--
Tonight!

Ok. Up front DCL. How many aetheists are there? How many are realy nice women and if there's a lot of you what do you like to drink?
I think you've maybe missed the central concept of Multifarianism, which is that we all operate as individuals, but as we progress on the path to self-enlightenement we put ourselves and our energies in common, thus one and one make three point five.
So I suggest we just mix.
And we still need ladies DCL.

The question is can we be a religion if we don't do henious, abhorent deeds, cultivate profound xeonophobia, and ahve a priesthood. Can we survive without doctrines?

Little Devil, any advice?

2% of the U.S. population are atheists (same percentage of people who can qualify for MENSA, weirdly enough).

Your philosophy has already been adopted by a number of Unitarian sects, including The Universal Life Church which is so open it even accepted me as a minister (I did it so I could marry a couple of friends a few years back).

That's great news DCL, we can fight them then. It's a universal pricipal of aggression that it's best done with those you are closest too.

You, being a priest and all that, can bless the battle.

I suggest we take mantras as our weapons.
