Mr. Speaker! We Need To Get Back To Benghazi

It is an entirely valid question what the ambassador was doing in such a poorly defended outpost on a day freighted with symbolism.

Rumors are some arms deal re Syria, but that's info yet to emerge from the debacle.

The ambassador was there because he chose to be there against the advice of those above him. It's that cut and dry.

Apparently, State knew almost instantly it was terrorism.

But, with an election looming and trying to suggest killing bin Laden had tamped down terrorism, the W House decided to spin a fable about a video.

And the state called it terrorism almost immediately as well. Why the fable? The truth would have done as well if not better.

The attack timeline according to CBS news:

According to CBS, State, FBI, White House situation room, and the DNI all knew about the attack 25 minutes after it started.

To compare that real time information flow between the Benghazi consulate and the upper tiers of the United States government to the flawed analysis and assumptions surrounding WMD in Iraq is the type of mindless, butt-dumb illogical associations for which you are NOT typically known. WTF, did you have for breakfast?
That doesn't say what was known about the motivations of the instigators, because it wasn't known at the time.

There were protests at the embassy in Cairo that same day, and the cause was known - an anti-Islamic video. It took a long time to determine that it was irrelevant.

Oh, and that would be toast with blueberries.

You're correct, it's not a valid analogy to compare Benghazi to WMDs.

HOWEVER,

One can make a valid comparison of the Benghazi response to the My Pet Goat fiasco. Surely you remember that one, where the Decider sat transfixed and paralyzed....

Isn't Monday Morning Quarterbackin' FUN!!!?!

Bush reading "My Pet Goat" was bold activism compared to what we know of Obama that night and the following day.

Much later, Obama was still citing the video over and over at the UN.

Obama and Hilly looked the mother of Sean Smith in the eye and lied to her.

I assume you have proof that he lied to her face?

They met her, hugged, and told her the lie that vid was catalyst.

No matter where a person stands ideologically, that's low.

You have a video or something for proof cus I know for a fact this didn't happen and so do you.

In fact not once has Obama claimed the vid was the catalyst.

Blatantly untrue. And even if it was true, responsible leaders don't grasp an unproven theory and adopt it as the most likely explanation just because it also happens to cast them in the most favorable light.

It was a boldfaced lie designed to free the administration from the consequences of a "September surprise." In that respect, it was a most successful mission, but it is even more disgusting to watch the President try to weasel away from appropriate accountability nine months later.

Utter nonsense. We live in the age of the 24/7/365 news cycle, where newsies demand instant answers. The administration went with the best information they had at the time, which later turned out not to be the case.

20/20 hindsight and monday morning quarterbacking becomes de rigeur in this situation.

That's discounting the fact that Obama NEVER claimed the video was at fault. I know we've all lost sight of that but lets remember that he never said that.

So two posts and three links later and apparently Jay Carney said it. Once. After OBama himself had already addressed it.

Don't worry, I'm logically stupid and think that words have meanings.

I know you are, watch Obama's lips move.

Still seeing no evidence for the GOP claims of conspiracy. Maybe they need to invent more fake stories. Just ask Alex Jones he'll do it.
