WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR WRITING A SEX SCENE?

Hey All.....

This is the first time I am starting a thread, so bear (or bare) with me --- MOTIVATION.

Yes, motivation. I am having trouble getting motivated with writing a sex scene for my new story. Normally, I will play every sex scene out in my head and if I become aroused by it or need to satisfy myself, I know it will be a pretty good scene. But lately, I just have no motivation. There are so many things going on in my brain, that there is no room for sex!! So very sad, I know. I need help.....I need motivation...

So, what I am asking in this thread is:

WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR WRITING A SEX SCENE?

Or better yet......


Get me MOTIVATED!!!!

Hi,

Something sets me off and I ponder it for a while. If it doesn't turn me on then it doesn't get written. I have written several stories but only submitted one here and am waiting for it to be approved.

Scenarios set my mind wandering such as what sex with a woman that I see in a coffee shop, or how about on a train - how would it go? Or maybe a stranger?

All of this sounds a bit vague but it could be that you need to clear your mind - music or read a book or just look at porn on the internet? You must clear your mind though.

Actually the watching porn part isn't such a bad idea... ive written three stories and the two major sex scenes were actually parts of porno's that I really liked...

Congrats on your first thread.

This is really difficult to answer (for me) because it has been uppermost in my mind for several months. You would have thought I had an answer by now.

A lot of my current motivation is summarised in the Immortality Thread, page 2 now.

I'm really working through the sex I know I will never have to some degree, working that into a fantasy, and that into a story.

Currently, and the news you do not want to hear, I am finding it is working. I am writing fast and good, 3 shorts and a novel chapter in the last week. 2 of the shorts have been submitted, this is an extract from one of them:

I am enjoying it, now I’ve got into it. I love the way he twitches as my tongue runs over the slit, he’s really sensitive there, I wonder if all men are. Can’t do too much of that because he starts pushing, wanting to get deeper into my mouth.

I’ve never understood how some girls can take it all the way in. I’ve seen them do it on the internet. Most of the time they look like their choking, finding it so hard to breath there is snot blasting from their noses. It’s not cum is it? No can’t be. I’m sure I would be sick if it went that far in, couldn’t help myself.

No, I prefer a less frantic approach, as long as I’m in the mood. I prefer just taking the head in, letting it briefly fill me and pull out again, running my tongue around and across it. No, I mean straight sex, he’s ok at the foreplay, gets me worked up, and then as soon as he is in, he starts to soften. Gets leg cramps, starts thinking he’s not going to be able to finish and that’s it. Vicious circle. He can’t do it, so he can’t do it. So I thought I’d give him a blow job, see if that can shock him out of what ever it is that is stopping him performing.

Seriously, maybe you just need to step back from it for a while, listen to some of the advice given and let it come to you. You might be forcing the issue seeing it as a story, imagine it as a fantasy.
My muse recommended that you write for you, not for others.

Well, for me, I begin by picturing a woman like in your AV, and go from there, but then I'm a guy; visually oriented.

Like Eric, I also picture scenarios. I've been thinking of starting a story series on lost opportunities. The women I might have made love, had the situtations been a bit different.

Do women writers think more about motivations and outcomes?

What motivates a woman to choose a certain guy or make a sexual opportunity happen? Perhaps you can answer one of those for us.

Try considering either the end or the beginning of a story.

For example, maybe you see a character changing in some way at the end of a sexual encounter. What kind of change would it be? How could he/she get there? How would that start and then progress?

Or, a beginning. Who are your characters? How do they meet? What is their motivation for sex?

And a great motivator of writing, is to not be getting any. My writing output dropped dramatically after I met my wife So cut off your partner and write away.

And one last thought :
If you are currently unmotivated, why bother right now? Or are you wanting to develop the discipline of writing on demand? That can be a good thing.

Lord, Pierce...you have my head spinning....I can't speak for all women writers, but I do need motivation...I need to make sure the outcome is perfect, happy, romantic....choosing a certain male character in my story depends on someone I see or know, who I feel is attractive, perhaps even turns me on.

Also, I am big on sexual emails....I love that. That also helps me get motivated.

So I guess I am also into visual and mental stimulation ---

I try to force myself to write even if I don't have the motivation to do so. If I am struggling with a sex scene, then I write in the basics of what I want to happen, and then when I do the read over, I add stuff to the scene. I will keep doing this until I am satisfied that it's as good as I can get it, and then I will send it off to my VE. Often having another eye look over it can be a great help, for it can often see things that you can miss yourself.

Another thing I do when I am struggling is to write a few sentences, and then I surf the web for a bit, read here on Lit or find something else to occupy my mind for a few minutes and then go back and write a couple of more sentences. (doing that right now in fact, lol)

I do one of two things either insert myself in the story and go for what I know would get me off or I think back to the sex I've actually had and write my favorite bits into the story it seems to work well enough for me.

Usually I am motivated by someone else's words. A scene, an episode, an overheard conversation - any of those can be the motivator.

A Literotica contest motivates me to write stories but not necessarily with sex in them.

I kinda joked in the other thread you mentioned this, but my comments weren't completely flippant. I find having sex in my mind helps. I think through the scene, in great detail (usually turning myself on in the process) and just write exactly what I see in my mind and how my body would respond, physically. I also think the emotions we go through are very important. I am never detached, when writing, I get "into" it, big time!

But, I don't know....I just feel as if there is something lacking...Sometimes I also feel like writing the sex scenes are so repetitive...I want something new -- I don't know....

Don't know if this will help or confuse futher, the former I sincerely hope.

I'm pretty sure you posted somewhere in the last few days about the characters and relationships being important in your story telling.

If you are stuck on the sex scene, try writing what your characters are thinking, their emotions, reactions and desires, leave the actual sex to a minimum, just concentrate on how they feel. Sometimes this works for me in understanding my characters sexual attitude, you might then be able to move on.

I write the best scenes when I am already hot. If I am having trouble I will refrain from masturbating for a day or two, but take every opportunity to tease & arouse myself to points just short of release. That usually leaves me in such a state my head is filled with nothing but sex.

I agree with what has been said earlier. I like to imagine myself in the story, to pretend that I'm one of the people in the story, and act out against the other one(s). Sooner or later, the sex scene is more or less necessary, and I just dream verbally...

Getting serious now.

In my case, where erotica is concerned, it always starts with the 'climax'. The scene just flashes into my mind. Then I fill the story out around it.

For example, in my first story, I had been corresponding with another authour on here. I checked out her profile and noticed she was a submissive. Being rather dominant myself, that got my febrile imagination going and the climax of the story appeared in my mind.

The climax of the current story I'm working on (not the one I asked for help with) first occurred to me in a strip club I was drinking at.

Yet another was started with a post by a Litster here.

So, jam ideas into your brain, shake it up and see what congeals.
