Motivation for SEX

I don't know that this will help but I'll simply respond as a writer (vs. horny or inspired type person).

I do not need to be aroused to write a sex scene, and mostly I don't get aroused by my own erotica. I just go at it like any scene and focus on the details first. When I rewrite, or edit, I focus on the overall structure (sentences, syntax, etc.) and tone or mood; usually more details come too.

There is probably something to be said for not being libidonously motivated as my stories here aren't "hot", but that's me and I write the way I write.

At any rate, Hon, maybe I'm letting you know how not to do it. ;)

You are underestimating yourself, Perdita. There is a red H beside Elevator Girl Ch. 03.

One at least of your stories has popular appeal but all are appreciated.

Thank you, Ogg, I did not know. However I don't think any of my stories has much over 40 votes, that tells me something about the Lit. readership and expectations.

best, Perdita

Except for competition entries, most of mine are nowhere near 40 votes. Some haven't reached 10 votes after 2 years.:(

Og

PS. Just checked. 8 stories out of 66 have more than 40 votes, and the majority of those 8 have less than 50.

Honey,

Great AV, It gave me an idea for a story, but it will have to wait a bit as I'm working on another.
As far as motivation goes, I'll give you my take on it. Something gets me to thinking, maybe it's the sight of a sweet young thing, (Renza has my wife wondering at my current states,) or maybe it's a setting, or maybe it's a scent. It doesn't matter, it gets me to thinking. Maybe it reminds me of something I have done, or maybe it reminds me of something I would like to do. I keep that thought in mind then work from there.
On the many occasions I run into wroters block I stop and take a break. Usually I cruise by here, while surfing a couple of my favorite picture sites. Sometimes I break out the camera and some Vino then take some pics of my wife. (That usually leads to some great insights, and some great sex.) On occasion, if I happen to really be having a problem I go diving. That relaxes me enough where my mind shakes off the cobwebs and I can write again.
What you say about the sex scenes, where they all sort of blend together and seem like one and the same. That does happen. Then again, if you think about sex it's all about the same thing. It's in the little details that the differences are. (Come on, after a couple of years you find you can only do so many positions. It's the little things that make the same positions interesting day after night isn't it?)

I do one of two things either insert myself in the story and go for what I know would get me off or I think back to the sex I've actually had and write my favorite bits into the story it seems to work well enough for me.

I could never look as good, or say it better than you Renza.

Yeah, what she said, only put it in my voice this time.

I started a thread about this exact same subject a while back. Writing sex scenes is boooooooring.

Insert tab A into slot B. Repeat until orgasm.

Ta-da, done.

Doing it is so much more fun than writing about it.

LOL...

I have lots of motivation for doing it. Writing about it bores me though .. I mean, it's the same thing every time, broadly speaking, and there's only so many times I can write variations on "She moaned as his cock slid deep into her pussy" before I find myself falling asleep.

Yes, Yes --- I feel the same...

The characters' motivations for having sex, now they're fun to write about. The build up, the teasing, the seduction, that's all good stuff.. but when they're about to actually do it, I just want to write "And then they had mind-blowing sex. The end"

LOL

Yes -- the old -- "Yeah, Yeah -- right there good yes... ok, now turn over and shut off the light!!!"

I think I envy people who can continue to write sex scenes.

In fact, the first piece of erotica I ever wrote on lit was for a challenge story set by The Earl. The way I wrote it, it had four different authors, each writing different erotic stories, and our omniscient narrator took you through each author one at a time, taking a peek at what they wrote.

The thing was, you could take all the stuff about the authors out, and just put the four snippets of sex scene together and they'd hang together as a cohesive scene.

The first piece of erotica I wrote, and it illustrated to me just how 'cut and paste' a sex scene is.

Change the names, everything else stays the same.

I used to work for a guy who wrote erotic novels on the side. His publisher only wanted gay novels, and this guy couldn't write those scenes. So he mostly wrote it straight, and his publisher changed the names and body parts around a bit and it worked.

The publisher started publishing both versions, selling the same story to two demographics.

Wow, that's great...

I am sending you the biggest kiss, PierceStreet!!!  (I think you know why)

motivation

I find as a man that if I have no motivation I will go some were like a mall or something and watch people. Then I imagane them in a sex scene. Then I jot down some notes. If I'm in a bar or bar some times women will ask what the note are for I will tell them and you would be suprised at what kind of things they tell me. I'm sure it would work for you.

-The sex scenes in stories rarely grab me there's only so much excitement in tab A sliding into slot B it's the story and the buildup around the sex that makes the story good or bad

I have absolutely no idea how to respond to this.

Raph, wondering if he should have pictures taken ;)

At this moment nothing motivates me to write a sex scene. I'd much prefer HAVING sex. If I start to write about it my currently high libido will go nuts.
