More Winning For The American People

After blowing up the global economy, Trump has flown to his private resort at Mar a Lago to host a golf dinner with Saudi Arabia's royalty.

They are meeting to discuss the future of LIV golf and how the Saudi and Trump families can build a global business relationship.

All for his personal profit. All on taxpayer dime.

Tonight, you're worried about your 401k and future. He's using your taxes to pay for his extravagant business deals with the same people who financed 9-11.

On Trade and Tariffs, Trump’s Stubborn Ignorance Shines Bright

The president can't be taught. And we’re suffering for it.

Trump’s peculiar blind spots and obsessions now threaten everyone. All of those supposedly worldly-wise Wall Street types who either supported or did not oppose Trump’s return to power deserve some of the blame today. One thinks of Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman, who had labeled January 6th “an affront” to America’s “democratic values,” but nonetheless supported Trump in 2024; or Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, who has a long history opposing tariffs but was co-opted to the point where he told a Davos audience in January that tariffs are a good “economic weapon” and that critics should “get over it.”

This kind of insouciance in the face of a severe economic threat is breathtaking. Even if Wall Street executives and others who chose to believe that Trump was preferable to Kamala Harris were indifferent to civil liberties, public health, or the administration of justice, you’d think they’d be interested in their own bottom lines. You would think they might have noticed that one of Trump’s only long-term convictions was that America had been victimized by world trade and that tariffs would solve all of our problems. During the 2024 campaign, there was almost no issue that Trump did not claim tariffs would resolve, including the federal budget deficit, joblessness (though unemployment was already low), high taxes (tariffs are taxes), war, and of course the trade deficit.

And now the captains of finance are surprised?

TRUMP HAS AN OBSESSION WITH TRADE. He always has, and his views are wrong historically, economically, and even morally. At his Rose Garden declaration of “Liberation Day,” he repeated his oft-stated view that the United States has been “looted, pillaged, raped and plundered by nations near and far” for fifty years and more. Long-term trade deficits, he declared, are a “national emergency” that “threaten our way of life.”

In vain did a procession of first-term advisers attempt to disabuse Trump of his absurd views about trade. They patiently explained that it is Americans, not foreigners, who pay tariffs. He was deaf to this. They noted that trade deficits are not a measure of wealth—far less who is “winning” or “losing.” If we buy coffee from Costa Rica and they buy nothing from us (which isn’t true, but just as an illustration), in no sense has Costa Rica taken advantage of, far less “raped” America. We gave them dollars and they gave us coffee in return. That is called commerce, and nearly every exchange between a willing buyer and willing seller yields two winners, not one. Besides, as those first-term Trump advisers also tried to convey, those Costa Rican businessmen then take those dollars and buy American treasuries and other assets. There are no losers in this equation.

The global trading system the United States shepherded into existence after World War II has been a boon to people around the globe, and no one has benefited from it more than the people of the United States. We’ve run trade deficits with many nations for many reasons: sometimes as a reflection of savings and investment rates in other countries (think Germany), sometimes as a function of relative wealth (Vietnamese consumers can’t afford to purchase as many American products as Americans can Vietnamese products).

But in any case, it doesn’t really matter, because countries with big trade deficits can be super-wealthy. The United States has run trade deficits since the late 1970s and has also been the richest nation on the globe during those years. In fact, even during Trump’s first term, which he has loudly proclaimed to have been the greatest economy in the history of the universe, we consistently ran trade deficits. In fact, the trade deficit increased during the first Trump administration from $481 billion in 2016 to $679 billion in 2020.

In a saner world, Trump’s delusions would not decide U.S. policy. They’d be checked by his own advisers, the Congress, and the public. But here we are.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY that a leader’s misconceptions have been implemented on a broad scale, but you have to reach into the history of dictatorial regimes to find parallels. In the Soviet Union in the 1930s, the ideas of agronomist Trofim Lysenko gained acceptance not because they were true but because Stalin wanted them to be true. Lysenko rejected traditional genetics as a “bourgeois invention” and argued that acquired traits could be inherited. He promised a new golden age with dramatically improved crop yields that would transform even Siberia into a paradise of orchards and gardens. This was touted by Stalin as the “new biology” and ruthlessly enforced. Naysayers were arrested and executed.

The predictable results were repeated famines in the USSR and in China, where Mao had also embraced the fallacy. Millions of men, women, and children starved to death because a leader was able to impose his fantasies on a whole society.

Global trade is an engine of prosperity. But come to think of it, Trump’s revisionism would probably make Stalin and Mao smile.

But despite all the shit coming Trump's way, things like THIS are why he has a LOT of support. Most people don;t care about the stock market or Ukraine - but when they see their tax dollars going to corrupt bitches like this one, they are, rightly, pissed. And they vote for Trump because he's the only one that has ever done anything to tackle this sort of corruption and theft.

And they will keep voting for Trump and Vance because they ARE the only ones doing something about this.

So you don’t see Trump’s open corruption and grift as a problem? 🤭

Anyone paying attention will notice the similarity between these people and their jobs and "musical chairs."

I see it more as sheer stupidity and simple-mindedness on economics.

The article I posted the comment on illustrates in spades why people voted for Trump and will continue to do do. That and deporting illegals and cutting the Feds down was why I voted for Trump.

The thing here is, if you read all the conservative media and influencers, that's what they're pushing to Trump voters. NOT the chaos in world trade that Trump is causing, not the geopolitical ramifications of turning Canada and the EU from allies into another bloc, not the impact of siding with Russia against all our allies, not the risks of isolationism.

Most Trump voters will continue to vote for Trump because those are not important issues to them.

So in terms of voter support, no, I don't see any possibility of Trump voters even believing that "Trump’s open corruption and grift as a problem..." And as for Ukraine, Buffalgurl illustrates many Trump supporters views quite adequately.

What I do see is that Democrats inability to tackle the corruption and grift as well as the outright illegality of floodimg the US with so many illegals is ALSO a problem. We are fucked on the right, fucked on the left, and the center has disintegrated...and we have a nutcase as President who looks up to Putin as a role model..go figure. Just shows, civilization rests on a knife edge at the best of times....we all better hope Chairman Xi keeps a cool head on his shoulders, because for all intents and purposes, China is now the world's remaining sane superpower.

This supposed economic chaos; when is it happening? Prior to any possible effect of the new tariffs? Or afterward?

Because I think too many people are trying to manipulate world events by screaming that the sky is falling. And they're doing it before sun rise.

President Trump EO Seeks to End the Nanny State’s Assault on the Constitution

By J.D. Rucker • Feb. 20, 2025

(American Political Report)—One of President Donald Trump’s latest executive orders is causing a stir from the left as he moves to reduce government control over Americans’ lives. It will require federal agencies to evaluate all of their regulations that could violate the Constitution.
According to Fox News:

Legacy media is, of course, trying to paint this as a power grab by the administration. But the argument is dramatically weakened by the fact that Democrats have exerted similar control over “independent” agencies for decades without a peep left-leaning media. Moreover, the control leveled by Democrats has always been to increase the scope of the “Nanny State” whereas President Trump’s order is to rein it in.
