John, I'm not sure where you researched, but my information came from an attorney who defended elevator companies from lawsuits. He got 2 or 3 new door injury cases a year, some with limbs so crushed they had to be amputated, and he only did one small state. And take a look at this law firm, that advertises that one of their specialties is elevator door injuries: https://www.attorneychicago.com/door-closing-accidents.html. It may not be conclusive, and it may not be a high risk, but it's a risk with virtually no reward.

I'm sure you're correct. I just did a random search on the internet. My attempt at satire failed to hit the mark. The whole topic was not only funny to me but hits close to home. It is ridiculous, really, when you consider the knowledge of the mechanics of an elevator, how much of a risk it is people take without a thought (which was mrbreastlover's point originally). Yet, everyday I witness many people swinging their legs, feet, arms and hands through the narrowing passageways between those closing doors. I, myself have done this very thing with a thin crease from inside the car for someone else in order to save them the bother of waiting for the next.

My deepest apologies to anyone who has been offended or hurt by my research. Sometimes we are the bull in a China shop, other times we are the China shop. Peace, love and granola everyone.
