I went to the doctor and I'm on the pill for a while to see if that helps. He said I have to try and cut down the amount of stress in my life, not easy when I'm dealing with a stroppy ex husband, elderly parents not in the best of health, trying to find full time work, dealing with the breakup of a relationship, and trying to make a future for myself and start over. It may come down to having to move away from here to find work, which will mean leaving my teenage daughter here with her dad.

Any wonder my body's packing up

Sorry to hear about all the trouble Bandit. Stress can cause a lot of problems for people's health.

I hope things get better. Sometimes the pill can help, but who knows. Good luck.

I am not bleeding. Just here to bitch that I didn't come on when I was. See, I actually need to start using this hut as a dating of my cycle. I got really scared I was pregnant last month cause for some reason I thought I was late. It showed up in the nick of time, but I need to pay attention to the calander.

Hope all the bleeding vaginas out there are somehow seeking relief. God bless heating pads for back cramps.

I'm dealing with a lot myself...
disabled mother who I care for and a new teenage "step son" who is troubled and needs lots of care and attention.

I just found out that I have a soccer ball size uterus full of fibroid tumors. I know the reason for my pain and constant bleeding.. I just haven't taken the next step (hysterectomy). I will.. but I just can't do it right now.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. I hope things start to work in your favor. Keep your head up and just remember it can't get any worse.

Starfish-Good to see you posting. I've missed you around here. And thank you for starting this thread. It's nice to have a place to go where others understand. :rose:

What a great place!

Mine just started this morning and I have been in alot of pain all day (not as much as freaky though).

I'm wondering about something concerning the Pill and the onset of menopause. If I am taking the Pill, and begin having changes in periods that resemble menopause, wouldn't it make sense to go off the Pill to see what the body is actually doing? The bleeding one does on the Pill is only an effect of not taking active Pills...not really a period, though it resembles it. If I go off the Pill and the body adjusts...then I will find out if I have less periods or lighter ones (which is supposed to signal the onset, besides hot flashes)...

What do you ladies think?

Thank you for your kind thoughts.....I am coping with the help of a couple of very good friends, it's hard to get up in the mornings sometimes but I count my blessings and I at least know that what is wrong is not too serious, I am not in pain and I don't need surgery.....

I have ex sisters-in-law who both had to have hysterectomies for the same reason as you and they say they have not felt so well for months, no heavy bleeding, pain or tiredness. I know it is a big step and very scary, my thoughts are with you :rose:

Thank you too Starfish :rose: We women are strong, just look what we cope with on a monthly basis :D

*grumble grumble*

Grrr I start bleeding 2 days before I finish the active pills, it's the third day of draggy cramping and it's heavy as hell still with clots. I've been on antibiotics which I suspect has fucked up the absorption of the hormones. My boobs were tender as soon as I started taking the pills too, I'm starting to wonder if all this is worth it *wanders off to fill a hot water bottle*

Cramps:

Isn't is amazing and annoying that the same thing that gives you the big O and pushes out your child is the same thing that wants to make you vomit and curl up in a little ball?

I feel like I swallowed coal and someone lit it after it'd descended into my bowels.

*groggily wanders in and takes her place among the other bleeders*

First day is horrible cramps. Second day I flow like the Mississippi river and get extremely tired. Today is the third day where the flow slows down to "heavy" and I am still tired. Tomorrow it should taper down and I'll feel more normal.

At least I won't be bleeding on my birthday so I can demand lots of oral sex.

Everyone that is having heavy periods. They aren't "normal". Don't let anyone tell you that.

If you are having severe cramps and heavy bleeding go to the dr!

Don't put it off like I did. I'm working on scheduling a hysterectomy in the near future. IF I would have gone to the dr sooner.. it might have been avoided.

I have fibroids.. LOTS of them. BIG ones.. There is medication that can help shrink them but mine are far to gone.

Please.. Please.. Please.. if you are having abnormal periods GO TO A DR!

I also would like to add

If you are able to take Ibuprofen (haven't had allergic reactions to it before). Start taking 800 mgs every 8 hours a couple of days before your period starts. And continue until a few days into your period.

Cut down to taking 400 or 600 mg if you still can't handle the cramping after 2-3 days into your period.

Trust me.. I've been doing this now for 2 months. It helps a lot.

Be careful about overdoing it with ibuprofen. Some new studies link extended use of ibuprofen with kidney failure.

Ok, which one of you bitches tracked blood all over my new white carpet?

*glares*

How gutsy of you to step in here and call them bitches.

(It wasn't me.. I'm not bleeding at this very moment. Give me an hour though.. cuz it changes that quickly)

Well.. if you ever had bad cramps you'd know.. Kidney failure is well worth it if Ibuprofen can get rid of them. ;)

Seriously.. Yes, I agree. It is known to cause problems. But so can Tylenol and aspirin. Take any pain relievers in moderation.

Very true. :)

Well the dragging feeling has eased at last, the flow has slowed from having to change a super tampon every 2 hours, and no clots this afternoon. Hopefully this one won't be lasting 10 days like the one before *fingers crossed* :(

Can I suggest again to go to Keeper.com and buy one? They have the side effect of shorter periods for many women.

Cramps suck. I'm praying for premature menopause.

At least the Keeper is making this monthly fiasco tolerable.

Now, if only I could figure out how to make these damn cramps go away.

I just want you ladies to know that I know all about periods now....I watched this VIDEO.

oh my god....that video was to fucking funny!

Nice to see this place come back to page one again. Just entered the "Red Tent" this morning - and that after having had an old root canal redone yesterday! Oh well, the endontist gave me Motrin and Vicodin so I can fade away into glorious oblivion!

I did want to second Freakygurl's suggestion: if your periods are extremely heavy or you have horrible cramping, do yourself a favor and see your doctor. I suffered for a year with cramps that I thought would kill me! (Grabbing the carving knife and giving myself a hysterectomy somehow seemed like a logical solution to the problem at the time) And the amount that I was bleeding made me wonder if I was actually hemoraging rather than having a period. Then there was the 1 week of period, 2 weeks of spotting that was no fun. Finally went to the doctor who said that, while I wasn't menopausal, I was peri-menopausal - the pre-cursor to menopause. I put on BCP a year ago and I have almost no cramping (well, so minimal as to be almost non-existant) and I love having periods that are only 3-4 days in length!

I do have a question about the Keeper and/or Diva Cup, though. The first 2 days of my period are medium to heavy. Starting with the 3rd day the flow slows to very light. Will these cups work for the conclusion of my period? They sound wonderful and I'd really like to try them, but if I still have to use a combination of cup/pad/tampon, I'm wondering it if would be worth it.
