Mine I'd change if starting over. I chose it thinking the blatant hubris would draw readers. Instead it draws trolls.

Every time I see your name, I can't help but think of the horse.

Just in case you don't know this, there was a Quarterhorse named Impressive that won at the World two years in a row - unheard of.

He was also the first horse with HYPP (HYperkalemic Periodic Paralysis), a muscle disease, and all his descendents now have to be tested for it. Even so, a horse with Impressive bloodlines is still an expensive horse - I have one.

Mine's pretty self explanatory. I was just legal when I signed up here.

Although technically I'd been legal in the UK for two years, but thats splitting hairs...

My explanation is even simpler than Just-Legal's...Yui is my name. :D

Yui ^_^

Tolyk is a name I made up when I was 11. I've used it in video games, and online ever since. I mostly play RPGs, so thus my fondness for an original name.

However, after a few years online with it, there has been some copycats AND I learned that it was a Russian nickname for Anatoly, which is practically the Russian versian of Anthony. So, that means Tolyk = Tony.. unfortuantely Anthony is my brother's name, so I've never revealed this information to him.

Oh, and it is pronounced Tall-ick (at least when I made it up thats how I say it.. No clue how the russian say it. Probably Toll-ick *shrug*)

I know we have had a thread about why we all chose our member name, but does anyone beside sad old me sit there and ponder why people decided on their handle, and wonder if your guess was even close?

Random examples that I have seen recently [and I do not mean to cause offense, just have a high level of curiosity]:

GingerV - Is her name Ginger Victorsomething, or does she have red hair?

chittylove - a passion for Herbie, love bugs or old movies?

Black snake - no need to wonder :D

p_p_man - golden showers?

Gusty wind?
Delicious Blonde?

a friend of mine made me a cd once and he named it clittylove, but i misread it chittylove.....and so the story goes...:D

Well I am Vickster, or VickyVickster in other places on the net-self explainatory really *grins* but I didn't want to use Vickster for my smut (it sounds to masculine) so I wanted to pick something that said I was feminine so Lady came to mind...then I needed osmething that described me,and I thought a while and fell upon "English" as "English Lady" sounds good together.

No idea if it suits me though*L*

Why Og became Og:

Many years ago, before most Litsters were born, I spent 5 terms (semesters) at a boarding school because my parents were abroad.

While I was there I didn't have much mail, a letter every month from my parents and that was it. Most of the other pupils were getting mail every week from friends and relations so...

I sent off for a free correspondence course about 'The Catholic faith'. I'm not, and never have been, a Catholic, but I thought I should know something about it, having been visiting Spain for three years.

Everything I owned at the school had to be marked with my name and my school number, or just the number if space was limited. My name, school house and number were part of my mailing address.

When I sent for the correspondence course I wrote my address in the school's recommended format:

Mr. X. Anon
Number
House
Blank School etc.

My school number was easy to remember - 099. (the numbers were recycled, as one year left their numbers were reused for the new entries).

The correspondence course arrived, every week, in a plain brown envelope addressed to:

Mr. X Anon-0gg
House
Blank School etc.

Every evening our post was delivered to our housemaster. After the evening meal he would shout out the names of those who had post. Anon-Ogg amused him and he was a classics teacher. I was called out as 'Ogg' or 'King of Bashan', 'Biblical Giant' or 'Rex Bashilensis' etc. It was a long running joke for the 36 weeks of the correspondence course.

My school nickname became 'Ogg'.

That was a LONG time ago and I haven't been in contact with anyone from that school for nearly 50 years so an obsolete nickname seemed a suitable identity.

I have been using it as a nom-de-plume for about 10 years.

Jeanne who is also Og.

PS. Why I am Jeanne is another story...

Mine is so bloody boring compared to everyone else here... pop... was my nickname at school... and I joined at a certain age a couple of years ago... I tried a couple of other handles only to find they were already taken, so I got pissed off with messing about and invented this one on the spot.

I'm various other names on various other sites, as well as pop_54 on a couple.

Minsue is a childhood nickname. It's also rarely taken, though occasionally someone has already signed up somewhere with it.

My other nicknames tend to be Flutterby, Flutterby_Helen or NightStar.

Then there's the whole list of EZBoard login's, but we won't go there.

Anyone that knows me, knows me as melanie,, well Melanie before I took my sub role.

I've been melanie from day one.

Melanie was a name I used in Bali. I went there every year for years.... shit.. about 8 years straight.

I loved the way they said it. Say melanie in an asian accent.... it cracked me up!!! I've kept it. It's still my chat name.

I chose doormouse because melanie got hounded by too many lizards. With this one, they're not sure if I'm a girl or a guy :D

I'm still melanie on every other site.

And picked the name of a legendary speedbass artist... ok, not legendary but well known in a few circles.

rgraham is close to my real name. I prefer to be myself even in cyberspace.

The 666 is partly because I'm a born heretic. And partly in the hope of having some paranoid fundamentalist's head explode.

That would be messy....bursting into flame might be better. You could make S'Mores or whatever else sounds yummy! It could be dinner AND a show. :)

I chose the "Dark" part for my writing style and the "Duchess" because I read too many bodice rippers- and seemingly, the other monikers for nobility are more popular.

My girl and I communicated through a message board (as a novelty, for fun) online and didn't want others to know it was us on there... in case they found it. We were having a bit of an affair, and her man would have been pissed (similarly, the girl I was dating at the time would have been upset to no end). So our user names were our middle names.

My middle name is Joseph... so I shortened it to Joe for my handle; hers is Elizabeth... shortened to Beth. I use "Joe" and "Beth" as characters in the stories about our sex life. Its sort of being "public" while being private.

I came here, and decided, why not use it here, too?

This is the only place where I don't use my actual real first name as my handle... my first name is "Flannel".

By the way Jeanne, does Og wear a frock and have curlers in his beard when posting as you?:D

(and for some reason I wasn't interested in being sarahhh - LOL).

ROFL :D

My name comes from my ex, who I was with when I first joined. It's one of those silly pet names. She saw me as tall, toned and strong etc. like a horse, but also a regular PAIN :D, hence her variation of charlie horse. Like Sarahh, there was already a charley, so I added the h. I have since not been able to shake the name.

Nope, I just forget to log off and log on again, and then have to edit after I've just hit submit and realised I was in the wrong identity.

It think it is called a 'senior moment' - serious, but not as bad as a 'senior blonde moment'.

Og (who only thinks he is Jeanne or Fag-Ash Lil from time to time. The power of imagination is useful. Actually dressing up as female would be a real YUCK moment. Cross-dressing as an ugly female doesn't appeal; as a bearded ugly female...?)

Mine's simple but I'll post anyway.

I wanted a handle that played off Lewis Carroll, the twisted little writer of the ultra-imaginative books "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass". Lucifer is a ready and darkly twisted twist on the name.

Together the handle describes my insanity and unpredictability as well as my dark sarcasm and my tendency to get very evil and gutter-mouthed when I argue.

Plus, the handle also reveals my dual identity as ye ol' fallen angel lord of Hell and allows me to reveal myself through my mortal conduit to the world of the AH and allows me to torment and/or joke with its denizens.

Overall, it's a handle that will likely become my favorite handle and nickname for years to come and whose origin will always lie here.

Muah ha ha ha!!!

(Sorry, Luc, it just seemed to me there needed to be an evil laugh.) :D

I am really curious about those of you have more than one identity and are very open about that fact on the threads. What's the point of having a secret identity if you tell everybody?
:rose:

Mine is from a wildcard in a card game. The reference I was going for is that it can't be taken at face value. I like to think of myself in the same way. Wildcard was taken, so I added the Ky for the lovely little state that I live in.

Besides, Wildcard sounds a helluva lot cooler than Jeff. :D

Mine is easy enough. I'm a pagan and a switch. For those who don't know, a switch in BDSM circles is a person who can be either a submissive or dominant at diferent times.

everytime I read pagan switch (btw, that was my guess at what it meant:D) my mind says, pagan switch; pagan's witch; pagan switch; pagan's witch. I just can't help it:)

What a cute little thread! :D

I chose EmeraldKitten, because it wasn't like any of my other screen names.
I had (sometimes still have) this horrible fear that someone I know is going to find me, LOL.
I think I'm being paranoid.

Anywho, I don't have green eyes, and as for the kitten part, I can't disclose why I chose that.
I don't want anyone figuring out my identity.  :p

Edward Teach was Blackbeard the pirate. He used to hide out in North Carolina which is where I sorta hide out, so I pirated his name.
