Hey give that hat back! I need it to shore up my dignity! Wait, I don't have any dignity, so go ahead and keep it .

For my part, I'm in a marriage which is currently not quite happy but I think salvagable...which I think is true of a lot of relationships. So adultery becomes the temptation of 'doing what feels good' at the _potential_ cost of damaging your relationship beyond repair.

There are things that I have lied to my spouse about, by not telling her (like my postings on this site). If she found out about them, they could damage our relationship to the point of divorce. As long as she doesn't know about them, and she probably will continue not to know about them, the major cost is really to me. And that's what I believe many people underestimate in situations like adultery--how 'protecting' their partner from the truth can still be damaging to the person who commits the act...

This turned into another ramble, so I'll sign of with a to BiFem and the rest of you posters!
