Magic Shaving Powder or Lotion

That stuff just cant be good for ya

Hair is made up of hard keratin and skin is made of soft keratin....so something that disolves the hard keratin cant be doing anything good for the soft stuff right???

Just my 2 cents

Cutting yourself 20 times while shaving isn't good for the old blood loss thingy either though.

Flawless logic, except...

Depilitories work at the hair roots where the kertin is just forming. They don't "dissolve hair," they just loosen it so it will fall out.

As Weird Harold pointed out, hair removal products generally only remove hair by working at the root to cause it to fall out. However, if you look at the lists of alot of hair removal products, you might cringe. Lye is more common than one would think, as are other harsh chemicals. If something says all natural, don't let that fool you, Lye is actually natural, as are other things. When looking for a way to remove unwanted hair, READ ALL LABELS. Don't just read the directions. You might miss important information on the product. If you develop a reaction to something, stop using it immidiately. Most hair removal systems will always caution you to test patch regardless of if you have used the product before. Waxing and Shaving are likely the best bets for people who are sensitive to chemicals, but are also the messiest, along with being rather painful. Everyone is different, so generally, it is a good idea to use a product that works for you, and is safe on your skin, rather than going with the latest trend that you "simply have to try" as recommended by one friend. If you aren't satisfied, go shopping around, ask friends, and if you have an appt with a dermatologist, ask for a recommendation.
