Well, well.....let me see if it really is like riding a bike.

Can one really go home again? Is it a realistic expectation that what was will be. How do you manage your expectations? Are you concerned that high expectations will lead to disappointment? And for those that claim to not have expectations, I don't believe you. Everyone has expectations. It's how you managed them, isn't it?

:rose:Welcome back, Chained. You have been missed
If it is a home, not just a house, then it should be the one place to which you should feel absolutely comfortable to return regardless of how you left or what might have changed about you or the home while you were gone, and regardless if it has a roof.

I don't know that hoping to find that what was there remains the same is a realistic expectation. What was there could be less acceptable or more appealing to you now that you return with fresh eyes. Do you need to find that what was there remains for you to feel at home, or that what to you is the natural order can be restored?

Perhaps the best way to manage expectations is to be prepared for what you might find. Hold lightly your hopes and expectations and be prepared to accept whatever you now see with your fresh eyes.

That doesn't mean that you should not attempt to change anything upon your return. Reacquaint yourself and observe how things went during your absence. Whether you like or loath what you initially find, you may gain a better insight into why it is home still to you or why it never can be again.

I lived at home with my new bride for 6 months after getting out of the Army. It was exactly the same as when I had left, but I had changed a ton.

Glad you're back, Chainy.

That's what I was meaning. Eeesh - that must have messed with your head

I got sick when I was there with a severe man-area infection and my mom had to drive me to the hospital as I could barely walk. So, of course, she asked me what was wrong and I told her, "my balls are killing me." Her response was, "oh."

Nothing permanent I hope?:rose:
Does that explain why you're reputed to be hung like a donkey?

Going home again has always been alright and pretty much the same as it always was, BUT I haven't been home in over a year so I am not sure now.
I am not sure I want my parents to see me this ill and grieving, although they see it on skype and facebook to the point that they have commented, the illness and sadness, not the full on grief. I do seem to be getting better and I hope to go home to visit within the month. If I could deal with the med stuff and insurance I would consider going home for a while. I am concerned about my parents who are aging.
If I can move my work to totally online, I may commute back and forth.

Lit is getting more strange for me. I have always had real life friends on Lit since I joined and I have made real life friends through Lit but having one become so much a part of my daily real life as Byron was different.
Many of the real life friends I have made on Lit are not on anymore and haven't been for years, and my real lit friends on life tend to come and go on Lit.

These past few months being on Lit has helped me cope with the loss more than I imagined, so I am very grateful.

I have found going home to a very pretentious way of life for most of my friends who still live there. But not for my siblings, well except for one, but she lives in DC. We were raised simply and that love is much more than materialism.

My 'friends', although the area is sort of a snobby, beachy, winery area, seem to have absorbed into that way of thinking. I can't wrap my head around it. They've changed, I've evolved and aged, but still hold fast to certain values and morals.

This is my example...

While there one time two girlfriends are in a bonco group, and needed a sub, so invited me. So I asked are there snacks there, food, what? They said the hostess provides a full meal before the games begin, but don't expect too much because the last time this woman hosted, she *gasp* cooked it herself! and it's better to just have it catered.

I burst out laughing out loud, and said you guys are kidding right, you're gossiping about her because she made her own dinner? well, yes. I said was it good? Yes. Okay then.

This is NOT how we/they/us/me grew up.

I gave super duper

Damn. I can't imagine people like that. Boy oh boy...she should have been praised.

I don't have many friends who still live in my home town, they are spread out all over but I might get to meet a fellow litser if she is in town when I am.
The one friend who lives about an hour west of my parents is the same as she always was since we were babies, only now she has grandchildren!

Slips into this quiet place, enjoying the moment of of solitude before the craziness of the day begins. Is Lit like that for you? A place where you can come(pardon the pun) and relax, and simply just be...

Good morning Chained:rose:

Yes, that is it for me...till the craziness (schoolyard BS...other craziness I like ) starts here as well, then I tiptoe out.

Sometimes I like it when America is asleep, first thing in my day. Then I'll catch up on what folks have been saying overnight: usually missing out on contributing to something. Pretty soon it gets boring though, 'cos there's no one to play with :(

For me, Lit is a place I get to let out parts of myself usually hidden. Some parts are sexual, some frivolous, some insecure. So while my time here can be relaxing, it can also be stressful or anxiety inducing.

Sometimes, when I can't sleep, I'll log in and have the same problem. :( Boring.

Have to say that was a lame ass topic. Definitely still knocking the rust off.

Have you ever had a lit playmate that once you consented to playing was just too much. Too intense, too demanding, too wanting, too cuddly, too orgasmic inducing....too anything?

Is it a blessing and you ramp yourself up to handle it next time or is it more than you can take, if so do you try and discuss it with them or just move on?

Could you grammar check that? Sorry, does not compute

Anyway, what is this with lit partners? Is it just me? Do most people have partners here?

I tried but it may be an American vs Queen's English thing. Or I'm just not that bright
