Wow, tons of trolls here who like to clique together. I'm liking my Ignore List.

I also don't appreciate when people private message me without even looking at my profile. It can answer some basic questions.

Welcome to Lit. :)

I think it's time to get this thread back from Free-for-all status before it turns into the cat lady thread

Freedom, we all relish it. From the freedom we discovered as kids riding bikes, to learning to drive, to becoming adults and making the decisions we want to make, to yesterday in here. Yet somewhere inside of us we all enjoy the comfort of parameters. Some more than others.

What freedom at lit is most important to you? Is it the anonymity? Is the preponderance of sex based topics ? What should they never change about Lit?

If it became a paying site, I'd probably be outta here. Not that I couldn't afford a $1 a month, I think it has more to do with it mentally. The simple idea that I'd be paying money for the opportunity to come to a porn site, doesn't sit well in my head.

What works on a lit for me? The different non cliquey topic threads. This isn't to rehash cliques again, the anybody is welcome idea, such as Litiquette, to ponder whatever or put in 2 cents, appeals to me.

I freely admit it is the freedom to freely post freely in a free environment, with all the freedoms that it freely implies keeps me freely coming back :p
*edges toward door*

As for Brad's comment about the Fet & Sex section: it is good that folks can share their kinks, though once I realised my favourite kinks were completely vanilla, I was a bit disheartened!

Change? We mentioned Iggy recently and other more sophisticated sites can make someone vanish from your cyber world - they can't see your posts, you can't even see them etc. I don't think that would work too well in convos and maybe it's better that litsters learn to settle their differences?

I guess what we have today is an evolution of tried and tested formats and rules. If big changes were needed I'm sure they'd happen.

Oh this doesn't work for me at all, I hold grudges.

In fact I really can't stand the exclusive, unless you're on the inside joke kind of threads.

Hmmm. Anonymity certainly appeals, but I’ve appreciated a variety of freedoms at different times. My first intro to the site was the stories. I would slink into categories of interest and read. Lit offered the freedom to explore my fantasies, guilt free. Okay, relatively guilt free.

I moved onto the forums eventually, and actually joined Lit. The BDSM offered me freedom of information, and let me realize I was kinky not crazy. Okay, still crazy but not due to kink. :D

More recently, as my learning curve has dropped off, I find myself enjoying the freedom to be…I want to say random, but that’s not right. Perhaps silly, or light-hearted? Hmmm, not sure. In daily life I’m a serious person, in charge, responsible, focused, etc.. On Lit I can be silly, flirtatious, relaxed. It’s the freedom of no requirements.

Well aren’t I just long-winded today! :D

I agree that they should never start charging money to come here. I would be outta here in an instant. Having said that, I come here generally for the sexy repartee and I appreciate, in general, that people are literate and thoughtful.

Strolls in, wondering if everyone overdid their Saturday night? ;) also wondering how many Litsters had sex with a new partner this weekend; apparently I'm quite inquisitive this morning ;)

Today's topic revolves around new partners. How much "research" will you do trying to discover if a new friend can become a new playmate? Or do you try and feel a connection and if you think it's there, just roll the dice and see how it turns out?

I didn't overdo Saturday night. I cleaned nearly two kilos of green beans, blanched them and put them in the freezer, baked a cake, did some this and thats, and made and ate lunch. And did the kitchen and the dishes afterwards of course.

I would, if I felt a connection, let the dice roll.

I had a very relaxing and lazy Saturday night although I should have been productive as Dutch. No sex with new partners for me and yes, that is an unusually brazen question for you, Chained.

I am not a researcher or stalker or anything of that sort. It is all gut-feeling or a feeling thereabouts.

Mind your own business! :p (And... no)

For my friendships in general (male or female), I don't have a pre-defined template; my friends are quite diverse and factual research wouldn't help me to reach a conclusion unless it exposed a glaring lie.

I rely heavily on my instinct about people (probably based on the way that they express themselves). It's right much more often than it's wrong, and it operates in defiance of any left-brained research. It has led me to some very pleasant surprises and saved me from some serious mistakes.

On Lit, my radar get more confused, as quite a lot of people are deliberately hiding something about themselves, but often for worthy reasons. I'm more inclined than normal here to roll the dice, but then to keep both eyes open for any hints of trouble.

If there's a connection and it flows into natural progression. ..I'm rolling that dice.
Sometimes it works...other times blech.
It's life...you gotta jump right in.

I'm not really part of the Saturday Night Sex Club so that leaves me out of part 1.
It's been a long time since I've had a new partner. I tend to like to walk along the beach, hold hands, enjoy some slow dancing. That can be difficult to find, 'specially 'round these parts. If we're talking friendship like Mind mentioned, I would share a response similar to his.

Freedom to acknowledge the sexual person I am that I am unable to in real life. That is the biggest freedom.

I enjoy discussing a range of topics a great deal and have on and off boards.

I make a lot of friends, some start off sexual and become very meaningful non-sexual friends, some start off mundane and just a comparing of notes and become something far more sexual. It is the connection factor. It can happen quickly, it can happen over time. Each snowflake is different and when two are placed on top of one another, the outline those two snowflakes is uniquely different as well.

Oh sure, make a snowflake reference, you are as bad as the people around here saying, "Enjoy the nice weather because in a few weeks we will probably have snow." UGH!!! lol

I worked last night and if I did have a partner, new or old, it would be between me and that person. :D

How much research depends on how far we take it. If we are planning on meeting then yet I will want to make sure they are who they say they are and search a little bit. People can say they are a nice person but with just a little research you can find out if they are just getting released from prison and that is they day they set up to meet you or not! LOL Okay, maybe that is a bit extreme, but you get the point. ;)

I don't have any playmates, so I'm not sure I can really speak to this.

My research tends to disqualify a candidate before progressing that far.

I've connected with a few, but for the most part, I've learned lessons I won't forget. So if I am approached on here, you will be reminded that you are going to stay in the "friend-zone". ( especially if you live hours and hours and time zones away??? Be my pen pal. Talk to me during the day, but don't intentionally try to chat me up. *insert brick wall here*)

As far as real life partners? I don't have any of those, either. I suppose for some of the same reasons don't keep a stable here online. It's not like I'm looking to settle down again anytime soon, but the one RL experience I've had since the "Big D-word" left a very bad taste in my mouth and a sadness in my heart. Really, really don't want to go there again.

A few rotten apples spoil the barrel, as they say.

I really just see how a connection builds. I'm not one that just jumps into play. I do like to learn a little about a person first.

Nothing sexual for me on Saturday night. *sigh* I did post and enjoy some sexy gifs.

I haven't had a new partner in awhile... But the current one I definitely researched before meeting... What drives me crazy is when people in my daily life are all "omg, you met on the Internet, he might not be who he says he is!!"
Two things... 1) a guy I meet at the bar down the street could be a rapist... 2) give me a little credit for being an intelligent human being.

Oh yes! I had exactly this reaction from one of my real-life friends when she came to a party that I hosted and I introduced her to some friends that I had made through an Internet forum (not this one!). She literally cowered away from them and, later, gasped to me in disbelief that I could have invited into my house people from... the Internet!

What my friend didn't realise at that time was that I had met all of these "Internet" friends on previous occasions; I had visited their home addresses, met their partners, played with their pets, and more. The Internet had just served as the conduit for meeting them in the first place, after which my normal safety protocols had kicked in.

I don't think pointless at all. If you want to tell a story... Tell it. Don't feel you have to demean it or apologize for it. Does that make sense?

I don't have any playmates here, nor am I looking. So Saturday night was not laden down with fending off the troves. ;)

Yes! I was just venturing into whimsical self-parody. :D I appreciate your validation, though. :)

Of course, I realise now that the warning tag needed to go before the story.

Sheesh for them . . . it is 2014 and it is socially acceptable to meet people on the internet. Most of them are legit and time pressures are a good reason to find interesting people. You have to take a lot of time to meet people of your ilk and liking at a bar. I for one, don't have that much time.

In regards to today's topic, it depends. Whenever someone new sends me a pm I always check their profile and some of their previous posts and threads. It helps me decide if I want to just give a polite 'hi back' response or if I think there might be a possibility of friendship or more. Then I just go with how things feel and the chemistry between us. There has been times when the other person is very nice and we seem to get along, but the chemistry isn't there.
