Sheesh for them . . . it is 2014 and it is socially acceptable to meet people on the internet. Most of them are legit and time pressures are a good reason to find interesting people. You have to take a lot of time to meet people of your ilk and liking at a bar. I for one, don't have that much time.

I'm not comfortable in bars and I'm on a very tight budget … staying home is way more comfortable in all ways for me. I do sometimes with I was more social but I'm not so no sense in fighting it.

< I'm not really part of the Saturday Night Sex Club so that leaves me out of part 1. >

There’s a Saturday night sex club?!

< Today's topic revolves around new partners. How much "research" will you do trying to discover if a new friend can become a new playmate? Or do you try and feel a connection and if you think it's there, just roll the dice and see how it turns out? >

I don’t really have anything useful to add. My lack of AV and profile limits random PMs and the ones that trickle in get shut down pretty quickly. I’ll admit to interest, but it seems so…awkward? Sex stuff, for me, has always involved, well, flesh to flesh.

Then there’s my habit of overthinking. Combined with awkward it to lead to masterly inactivity. What do I worry about, you say? Are they crazies in disguise, will they be discreet, will our sexual proclivities match up, what if things goes bad, what if online is just weird, what if - god forbid - I do it wrong!?!?!? Really, it would be easier to list what I don’t overthink. Clearly I have an overthink problem….

Maybe I should go think about that. :D

Maybe, after my "interest” comment, I should go turn off my PMs.

Well, you seem like a very nice person and I think staying at home is just as good as going out, so long as you don't turn into a hermit. ;) I also prefer to stay home and I used to be a very social person, but not so much anymore. Would prefer small gathering rather than large ones and with people I know and am comfortable with.

I've never been into bars. Even in college when friends would make me go with them, I spent most of the time wondering how long it would be until I could fake a reason to go home.

I also see an RA streaking past, but I just put my blinders on. :D

I don't think pointless at all. If you want to tell a story... Tell it. Don't feel you have to demean it or apologize for it. Does that make sense?

Nothing sexual for me on Saturday night. *sigh* I did post and enjoy some sexy gifs.

I haven't had a new partner in awhile... But the current one I definitely researched before meeting... What drives me crazy is when people in my daily life are all "omg, you met on the Internet, he might not be who he says he is!!"
Two things... 1) a guy I meet at the bar down the street could be a rapist... 2) give me a little credit for being an intelligent human being.

Oh yes! I had exactly this reaction from one of my real-life friends when she came to a party that I hosted and I introduced her to some friends that I had made through an Internet forum (not this one!). She literally cowered away from them and, later, gasped to me in disbelief that I could have invited into my house people from... the Internet!

What my friend didn't realise at that time was that I had met all of these "Internet" friends on previous occasions; I had visited their home addresses, met their partners, played with their pets, and more. The Internet had just served as the conduit for meeting them in the first place, after which my normal safety protocols had kicked in.

.

My hubby & I met on Lava Life. On October 8th we will have been together 10 years.
The only being I have had a longer relationship with is my dog.

These days for people to be all weirded out about the net...i think that's just odd.
Much better then a drunk .

I know I'm going to regret this, but what is PDA?

Public Display of Affection. It is when two or more people get hot on a thread ...

*grins* Now I don't know if you are regretting you asked ...

Edit: From the book you quote from, I learned "TANSTAAFL" ...

so basically other people grope, etc, I just come behind you and shuck you....then run...

Or in the case of Chained, I'd grab his nuts and make a *HONK* sound then turn around and walk off...

That might not really be considered PDA, though, more of a Clown Car Romance
:D

Ahhh. Thank You. :)

Heinlein, my fav. My quote used to be, "Everyone lies about sex," from Time Enough for Love, but I got complaints. :D

 I think I like Dutchrain's explanation better....

"public shucking"...."public fucking"...
One is infinitely funnier, not that they both aren't amusing in their own ways.. :)
