It's Friday, and it's always fun to watch the number of users increase as the day wears on :)

Speaking "wearing on" Rubes comment about editors got me to think that we should try a "free-for-all" Friday. Not an out of control, anarchy sort of day but instead I'm inviting you to toss out those things that wear on you about Lit. Like Rubes did about editors. No naming names, but don't be shy, get it off your chest and go into the weekend a bit more free ;)

it would be nice if people you've put on ignore couldn't post in threads you've started.

It would be. I have no one on my ignore list but I wonder how many I'm on...hmmmmm

I've never wondered about that. Why would I care? Would you be offended to learn someone has ignored you? Not me. It doesn't even interest me in the least.

I don't have anyone on my ignore list either. If I don't care for someone I can ignore them on my own. Lol. Nor do I care if I'm on anyone else's ignore list. Not a whole lot bothers me on lit and if it does, I just take a little lit break. :)

I have two people on my ignore list and that's because they annoy the hell out of me.

What is the original question?

I have a question. It's simple, and could easily elicit some snarks in the responses...but
I'm wondering~serious inquiry here~ why do men use women as their avatars? I'm not talking MtF because that makes perfect sense to me. You are now a female, and a female is most definitely more appropriate ((((hugs to Sticky )))

I'm talking about the men who are men....the hetero-not-even-close-to-being-curiously-bi- men who use a woman as their av.

Is it the aesthetic? Is it purposely being deceitful? I'm just curious. Not judging.

I want people I have on ignore to know they're on my list. Petty, I know. They probably get the hint soon enough anyway I suppose.

I's also like to know how many people subscribe to a thread I've started. Essentially an attention whore request, but I would be curious to know how many people are interested in a topic.

If someones PM box is full do you get a notificatiion to say as much?

If so, there are some very impolite people around here

Nyeah - I'll put you on Iggy!!
I see that on the GB and immediatley think of primary school playgrounds! I did "iggy" once but couldn't see the point because you see their posts via quotes anyhow (they were a couple of creepy Joes).
I never get involved with slanging matches on Lit - I can't see the point, though I have become so angry I've had to walk away from the keyboard. That's annoying in itself - because who ever it was has reached out to affect me. That's trolls for you. Wankers!!

I can only assume they are being deceitful if they try to pass themselves off as women, but there are one or two regular posters who use a female AV and it can take a while to work out what gender they are ( though they usually explain in their profile ).

Some assume I'm not bothered by gender, because I support free gender expression, but I still want to know where I stand in conversation. There is so much nuance within langauage - it is inherently gendered ( or sexualised ), so of course gender matters.

Hugs back :)

Just curious, really. I can understand some of it, but certainly not all of it. I personally don't want to have to figure out if you're a man or a woman when I'm talking to you.

*flashbacks to Pat on SNL* :p

I'm off today, btw.... Fair days are upon us in the States, and today the kiddos got the day off. So, I took the day off with them.

I'll have more time to trounce in and speak my mind today.. :D

{That does suck, Lit needs an "Invisible To Me" function.} I could use one of those in RL, frankly.
When I perfect my individualized invisibility cloak, I will let you know. R&D was easy, but the red tape with clothing retailers is insane. Side effects include headache, nausea and not being a Giants fan anymore. Take the good with the bad I suppose.

I often wonder about that.
Congrats! You both now have at least one! Hope this helps ... wait ... you can't read this anyways ... ;)

Hm, maybe we should open our own editor's club or something like that. There are quite a few literate people around here -especially here on Litiquette- who surely would like to read a story and give quality feedback.
I write stories too and will toss my hat into the ring at RA's disposal. Being at RA's disposal ... well ... it's a very compromising position.

I hope not to be on this list as those audio files ... c'est si bon

we should try a "free-for-all" Friday.
Lit obviously has a great number of people visiting it. There are main forums and sub forums. The organization is necessary due to the volume of people. One thousand people cannot have one group discussion and thus small groups are created to plug into.

Recently, some folks not typically on the PG reached out to me (and vice versa) and we've become friends, which got me thinking (always dangerous) ...

How often do you mingle between forums? Are you a strict PG'r or do you blow where the wind takes you?
