I've never said it's for everyone. That would be a terrible joke. It's what you make of it, same as the PG. I choose to have fun in both places and I do. I wish that for everyone. But I also wish ice cream was 2 of the 4 food groups. I'm still angry about that last one.

Wait, it's not? But it's dairy and fat isn't it???? Crap.

No, it's not for everyone, I was just saying some of the PG'ers are probably touchy about seeing them here because of past experiences. But hey, as far as I could tell it was (mostly) all in good fun.

I can't speak for the GB or even those that posted here last night. I was here for fun. Most of the others said they had a blast, too. There was nothing hostile meant.

I only saw a little of the festivities but it seemed to be harmless fun to me. It's just the internet, there's enough angst in this life without adding this to it.

Yeah! If you want to be an asshole, take it to YouTube!

^^Life motto.

OK, I will share my ice cream then! (Don't tell Chained though, he might see that as a PDA and give me a citation.)

Amen!

D'ya suppose here's going to be interbreeding between the PG and GB
Will mixed-board children face discrimination in both worlds?
Will they turn to crime and drugs?

I've straddled both boards for a long, long while and have never experienced personal discrimination. If there is, I'm oblivious to such pettiness.

I get a funny feeling down there when talk about straddling. ;)

Yes to this. I've posted elsewhere that since I only ever click 'New posts' rather than boards I don't even see, for the most part, where threads originate.

Board-blind, that's me. I should get some sort of medal.

If you only see new posts, do you not perhaps miss a thread that you may have liked that are a couple of hours old? I don't know how that works.

I tried it, Desi. I'll confess I didn't even know now to get new posts til I actually saw that link for them all. I saw the Darklounge. I should lurk there more often, but forget.

Well, it goes up to 200 threads - even in busy times that's usually a bit more than 2 hours, and sometimes it's several hours. Beyond that if there is a thread I posted in that has disappeared I'll find it in my posting history and take it from there. But yes, if a new thread appears that I might have liked just after I've logged off and drops off the top 200 by the time I come back on, unless someone else wakes it up I will never see it. I don't know how you avoid that altogether, though.

Yes, I think that sort of thing is exactly why I do it that way - with the best will in the world there is crossover between threads in terms of topics, and I'm also interested in lots of different things, so if i just stuck to one or two I'd miss out on an awful lot. It's the same reason I don't block/ignore anyone, even the GB fascists: there is just a chance I might see something interesting. Bunnyslippers and 'NeverendingMe/JeninFLorida/whatever else' have yet to provide anything of value, but James Johnson often writes really interesting things about novels and writing which I respond to and enjoy, amidst the casual racism.

I suppose what I am trying to say is that Lit is like life (bear with me...!) - all life is here, and one can stick to the suburbs in an attempt never to see anything one dislikes, or head straight to the big city and trade comfort for excitement and variety.

The majority on the first page or so are normally PG threads anyway.

....and I'm clearly talking out of my arse because I just clicked new posts and they're not.

The porn board doth mock me.

Well, we are all learning something today. More justification for the invasion...

Good morning, by the way. I don't believe we've been introduced. Des Esseintes, at your service. <Bows low.>

And, in contradiction to what you found, when I just clicked 10 out of the first 18 were PG. So whatever the GB incursion did does not seem to have damaged the resilience of the Playgrounders, Gawd bless 'em.

Looks as if we've had some guests around these parts. Are we a welcoming society, able to look at someone and not their baggage or do we let the sins of the past color them permanently?

I think it makes us cautious. For sure. But, some are extremely forgiving. I've been forgiven in my life for a lot of stupid things so I think I'll try to extend that same grace where it's deserved.

I do think the sin and the reason behind it matter some. Others may be more black and white.

I'm curious if people here care about the pasts of their lit partners or playmates or whatever the fuck they are called.

No question makes me sad. :(

< I'm curious if people here care about the pasts of their lit partners or playmates or whatever the fuck they are called. >

I don't care much about the pasts of my RL friends, probably even less about Litsers, Literoticans.... Hmmm, I know Chained tagged a name somewhere back, but I can't remember what it was.

In my experience people with a varied past tend to make for more interesting company anyway. Most of my communication stays on the public board, rather than private messaging, a venue less likely for personal information exchange.

There is one woman I've gotten quite friendly with; we share personal details, past and present, but that's just the progression of intimacy rather than a need to know about her past.

Only if they misrepresent who they are. In my opinion it's very hard to recover from a lie/series of lies. To me it makes everything about our interactions questionable/a lie. Regardless of intent, the damage is done.

Oh!!!! What she said ^!!!!

A little subterfuge here or there, I get. Privacy is important to me, and I'll occasionally change little details in a post that seem like they might be...too real life revealing.

But, yeah, if someone I'd come to trust turned out to have presented me with a completely false impression of who they were I'd be pretty upset. So, perhaps I should amend my answer to say that while I'm not too concerned about who people have been in the past, I am concerned about who they are now.

I agree with you on this. Privacy I get, but being true to who you are right now is also important. Not everyone will like you and you won't like everyone either. That's the quirkiness of life. You can then enjoy the people who do interest you or make you smile :)

Sorry it was, I think what you call a curved ball out of left field from an oddball.
Expect nothing less
My outbursts are short-lived then I want to curl up and eat chocolate

King....and temp king......no questions? *sigh* How can I lurk if there is no question?
