I try not to judge a person's past. If I worried about past sins, I'd never be able to face myself in the mirror.

The mess last night was not a friendly visit. There is a thread on the GB where they discussed and planned the invasion, then used it to give each other 'high fives' when one said something particularly snarky. A few seemed to genuinely be having fun here, but most were having fun at the expense of the PG regulars. They were being asshats, bro.

I'm new to the PG and have never hung out on the GB, so I doubt I'm fully grasping this whole "invasion" concept. But, the kind of thing ViciousTease is describing just...bores me. *shrugs* It's not any different than trolling, a behavior whose motivation which i've never really understood.

To answer the question, I won't stay someplace I don't feel welcome, so I try to welcome others.

I didn't read every single post on every single thread that was started during the GB invasion, but from what I did read - it wasn't that bad.

Did they make fun of some of the threads in the PG? Yes. But we have our share of dumb threads around here. Were they snarky? Yup. Did I laugh more than a few times while reading? Yup, again.

Personally, I hope some of the threads they started survive. And it made venturing over to the GB a little less intimidating - for me, anyways.

Viva la crossover! :D

I liked it too, although I only catched the end of it. I really liked some of the threads they started, they were fun and I hope they survive. The ones I interacted with were very nice. Funny, sarcastic and snarky. I think they made more fun of the carefree tone of the playground than the people on it. Of course some were asshats, but you can't judge a place by its worst members. Besides I've seen a fair share here make fun of the GB. Also we got a fair share of asshats here too, but it's easier to hide it here since everything is so lighthearted.

The playground is partly about mindless fun and I think it’s okay to make fun of it. Besides I think most of them only tried to mess with the ones they thought could handle it. At least that's how I saw it, but I may have missed an asshat or two.

In short I enjoyed the crossover.

Viva la crossover! :D

It was a peaceful and innocent incursion out of boredom. And the few that seem to be assish just want to see reactions. If you don't get butthurt, they like you. Usually.

Looks as if we've had some guests around these parts. Are we a welcoming society, able to look at someone and not their baggage or do we let the sins of the past color them permanently?

I am living proof of that statement.

I voice my opinion on a regular basis and there have been several that didn't like it and well ... whatever.

Rumors spread, people believe what they want on this board cause heaven forbid if you should speak your mind and go against the grain of Lit.

It is what it is ... I'm here for my own amusement and trust me, this place gives me that on a daily basis.

I actually enjoyed the shake up...gets a tad boring around here sometimes.

I was (am) okay with it too. I didn't participate enough to see if it had an ulterior motive though and was happy enough with the surface fun.

I think it's wonderful fun and if it helps anyone to break out of their comfort zone and meet new folks, it should continue.

But that's just the point - putting people on ignore as a default setting: I mean wtf? If the GB'ers have finally got fed up of their own snark that they've stepped out of the GB pit, then I hope they keep themselves muzzled. The GB level of sarcasm and plain meanness isn't smart and it isn't clever - it's pathetic to see adults acting that way and is a total turn off. I can see people acting like assholes in any nightclub and I'll do the same here as I do there.

Preach, girl. I missed the live show, but completely concur.

You have to remember that it's also about the nature of the topics. Religious and political debates tend to be more heated than talking about numbers and what the person above you would get arrested for.

There's more room for asshattery to appear. If started having those discussion here, it would probably be a couple of asshats that would stand out. I think most of them that came were very nice and they brought boobies.

Of course if you don't like sarcasm then it becomes more difficult, but I honestly think they mean any harm, except for one or two asses. I don't see what they post as plain meaness, I see them call each other cunts with love and some that don't.

I don't see that they meant and foul, not as a group at least. I hope the ones that enjoyed themself here stay and feel welcomed. There will always be asshats on a boards and it's not really there fault that there are more of them on the GB.

JtohisPB was just trying to help and stick up for her board at the same time and she did it in a nice way. Almost like she was a playgrounder. :rose: I think it was nice of her to post and hope she stays. :rose:

Yup, I know what GB is like: ring-side seats are free, but why the advance apology? If it was for a group of visitors with behaviourial or emotional problems then that would be understandable... Oh! I'm sorry :rose: ;)

Sure, agreed - they're welcome but if they act like asshats then they'll probably find people drifting away. How To seems to have collected a few hypertenshats from GB in the last year or so.

I've exchanged posts with JtonisPB before, as I have you. Neither of you have horns :) ... but what about the Iggy knuckledraggers?
*sigh* Oh-hum, nothing much to get in a bunch over anyway but I'd rather have a conversation on a thread without having to step over puddles of bile

That's a good point, but I think our silliness will overpower them. Hard to have a political discussion if you have to do it in ABC-mode. :) I'm just getting to know the GB, so I wouldn't know. :rose:

JtohisPB..

I can appreciate that apologetic, however, the very fact the one must "have thick skin" to interact with that board, by very definition makes it an unwelcoming place to be.

I won't comment further. It's not my cup of tea, so to speak, so I won't go over there again. I'm happy for everyone who managed to make friends, though.

^^^^^ SEEE??!?!?!!?
I don't have time for that shit.

It's one thing to have fun...
It's another thing ENTIRELY to have fun at the expense of others.

Makes me sad and pissed all at the same time, and I liken the majority over there to the kind of kids who poured the pig's blood over Carrie...

And then I think, Karma will kick you in the ass..so I try to just walk away.

You definitely read way more into my thread than was there. You weren't reading it with prejudiced glasses on, where you??
My original intent was created out of boredom. I want to post in the PG but there isn't a single thread that interests me. We all come to Lit for different reasons. Most go the playground to mindlessly flirt in game threads, most go to the general board for humor. Not really sure why some people have a problem combining the two.

Whether you looked at every post last night (and today) as some high school attempt to panty raid or laugh at people we view as "losers", that doesn't change the fact that we came here to have fun and mingle with people we didn't know and that's exactly what happened. Whether you view the whole thing as evil, we still had a good time and met some awesome people. Some people take shit way too seriously.

At last! We have drama - perhaps even melodrama! I was disappointed when the great majority of the Playground took the 'invasion' in good spirit, responding positively. Friendships were made, wonderful creativity shown adn much laughter was had by all.

So what a relief to find, amidst all that depressing bonhomie, a voice or two having a little cry at the horror of it all. It quite replenishes my faith in whiny humanity.

Witty banter can be found on both.

Meh, Im usually to busy looking for boobage. ;)

I take a lot of shit too seriously. I'm one of the resident asshats on the PG. It's why I try to keep my mouth shut most of the time. It's also why I left early last night. Looks like everyone had a good time, so all is well. That's what the playground is all about. Welcome to the funhouse.

I didn't say I took it seriously, and for the most part your thread was harmless fun. What I do notice is that the same acceptance does not happen in reciprocation when playgrounders venture into the GB. Y'all come over here and we banter back and forth and it's all good. This doesn't successfully happen on any level when going into the GB. The general rule of thumb is you have to put half of the posters on ignore to have a good or meaningful time. For that reason alone, I don't bother going over there. I'm glad those of you who came in the spirit of fun had fun.

The few PGers who have been posting in the GB since last night have been welcomed with opened arms so far. I got a lot of pm's last night thanking me for shaking things up but what was really cool were their comments about how it made it less scary or easier to go over to the GB and post. We're all members of Lit, we all have different interests and not every bull run from the GB to the PG is a hostile takeover.

I'm glad the natives got to exchange beads, so to speak. I'm just being honest when I say, a lot of what I've perused in the GB contains triggers for me. I am mindfully choosing not to put myself where I am likely to rip someone's virtual throat out.
I think my recognition of my limitations should be a pat of my back.

I rather enjoyed the bits of last night's excitement that I was around to see, and I thought it was good to shake things up some. It has been getting reeeeeaaaaaallllly boring around here. That said, RA does have a point - the few times a thread on the GB caught my interest and I DARED to post on it, I was not ignored or answered briefly and then snubbed or anything like that. I was insulted, sworn at, and told to go back to play with the babies on the PG. So, you really can't blame the PG'ers for resenting an influx from the GB when so many of us have had that experience.

I've never said it's for everyone. That would be a terrible joke. It's what you make of it, same as the PG. I choose to have fun in both places and I do. I wish that for everyone. But I also wish ice cream was 2 of the 4 food groups. I'm still angry about that last one.
