Good morning everyone.

Rip the bandage off fast or slow? That's one of life's greatest debates. Pros and cons to each. Kind of like posting here, is it best for newbies to just jump in and post and take the bumps and bruises or is it better to wait for a bit and make sure you've hot things figured out.

I say jump in because the time will never seem perfect and bumps and bruises will come no matter when you start posting.

I have to agree to a point. Maybe look around a little bit and decide which thread you would feel most comfortable posting in first. Some are a bit more accepting than others. But definitely just start posting and if nothing else, there are a lot of game threads that would be a way to meet people and get your posts up quickly.

If possible, shave before you put a band-aid on and rip it off fast after a day and shave again before you put a fresh one on if you still need one.

I would say, try the game threads first.

Oops, was I supposed to answer the bandaid one also? ;)

I just jumped in, and it was a bit of a rough ride at first....usually better to get your post count up on the game threads, like Dutch said, because I know people look at that. Especially if you've been a member for a while and have very few posts.

Yeah...but you struck gold too. So your experience is different.

I'd say to jump right in, but it's a lot nicer experience to start on the Playground. I learned a lot just from reading, and almost universally I'd say the folks here are a lot more welcoming. Everyone will get a few lumps, but they go away, and it's worth it in the end.

I unfortunately ventured onto the GB before finding the PG......pretty scary. Took me a while to find my footing here after that.

The GB is easy to understand. Insults = Flirting. The more vile the insult, the hotter they think you are.

OP question: I think it depends on one's skin thickness. Being new, you can hop in, and as others have said, take your lumps. If you stumble, there's no rule against restarting under a new name. Quick and dirty has always worked for me.

My own odd thought: I think it gets a bit harder the longer you're here. Trying to keep your perceived reputation and aura intact seems to temper some of the comments around the boards. I've always noticed the fewer people in a conversation, the more honest they are. Though, I'd guess the motives behind being here will play a part. "Players" will always play the game they know if it works.

Ya it was pretty awful. Surprised I actually decided to stick it out.

I had lots of fun there today. Pointing out stupidity, showing my disdain for people that think they're superior.

I can flirt a helluva lot better than that..:rolleyes:

I saw....was enjoyable to read.

I much rather like your way of flirting than theirs!!

I never understood why post count matters. Unless you've been here for ten years and they all consist of AmPics or Personals posts, then I'd admittedly label you a leg humper.

It's definitely a lot more fun here. Such lovely participants.. :)
Yes, you're quite lovely, slinger. ;)

In response...I guess I lucked out, because I think I posted the first day I joined and was treated wonderfully. I do remember I read a lot of the thread I posted to first and got a feel for everyone, plus I contributed something relevant to the discussion that was going on. So, I jumped in, but very carefully.

Post count is an indicator of intelligence and wisdom on a forum. Much like cock size is indicative of sexual prowess and oral ability.
