Friday. Yes! If it were only Friday night ;)

Exclusivity. I don't think there is very much of that here in Lit. Even in relationships where it is professed, I still think there's action on the side. And my hunch is that it's more prevalent here than in RL. Is that because online just makes it easier to be with multiple partners or is it the type of oerson drawn to Lit is also the type to have multiple partners anyway?

I think I would put it right on par with real life. Exclusivity isn't so much about the venue as it is about the people - if you are inclined to be exclusive I suspect you'll be exclusive IRL and online. If you are not, you won't. If you have a real world relationship that is exclusive - and you're fooling around online - then you might want to take a closer look at what you consider to be exclusive.

I am sure there are a hundred definitions of it. I am not exclusive IRL or online. I learned years ago that it simply isn't me. Fortunately, there are a lot of people like me. I will tell you something weird that I've learned - and it may be a reflection of my circle more than anything else - but the only people I know who are sexually exclusive are either geographically or socially isolated and don't have the opportunity. What an amazing world.

I don't come to Lit for a relationship so exclusivity has no grounds.

That said, I do like quality in communication so I tend to chat exclusively with someone when my attention/attraction has been raised.

Besides, long pauses - usually due to many ongoing chats - in the flow of a discourse are rather annoying to me

I've been exclusive here for nearly two years. I think my relationship has been abnormal in every sense of what Lit is about. I don't think that there is "action on the side" by either party involved. I know there isn't, in fact.

I do think that the nature of this site, along with the anonymity of being online, makes it easier to have multiple partners. Many people enjoy that and that's their thing. Many people do not care or want to know about the other person.

I certainly didn't come here expecting to be involved exclusively with one person. But it happened. And I would not trade it for all the (insert whatever is valuable to you) on this earth.

People are individual. What one wants another doesn't. I do agree that exclusivity on Lit is not common. For some it's like being let loose in a sweetie shop...lots of different sweeties on display. If you're upfront about that and it's what you're here for then that's cool. Each to their own etc etc. The sad part is when someone leads the other person to believe that the relationship is exclusive but they actually have their hands in other sweetie jars too.
I think you can have exclusivity but both parties need to want the same thing. Communication is key and the majority of females need reassurance.

I think sometimes the guys forget that the women do actually talk to eachother here. I have seen some guys being caught out and hung out to dry. And vice versa.

Being truthful and upfront about what you want is important. That way you don't hurt someone because although this is online it hurts to know someone you trusted lied to you. Afterall, all we really have online is emotions and feelings unless you take it a step further into real life.

I agree totally!

I've been exclusive to one person for two years too - she's nice enough but we could both do with some variety to our celebate monogamy  Trouble is, if you put up a certain shopfront, people think that's all the store has to offer, but there might be fun stuff inside. I cybered with a couple of people back then, but the play has to be made meaningful by learning more than how big their supposed dick is or else it's kinda boring.
So if people play around, are they just firing rude words at each other till one of them says "I just cooooome, nrghphmph" or developing something more?

Be honest and upfront with those you chat with. I mean really why bother creating a person you aren't just to turn around and have to keep it up in every conversation.

Smiley brings up an important aspect to that exclusivity. Do they both agree or is one dipping into the sweets on the side, schmoozing those same old tired lines.

How timely to just find out someone is exclusive with a Litser and know that a different Listerette has recently been repeatedly asked but turned down to meet up for some little lollipop action. Me thinks Litster #1 doesn't know. Oh, but shhhh...

tsk...tsk...tsk

I guess that makes us two. ;)

I don't know why, but I read that as if it's written in the voice of someone offering candy to school children. You don't drive a van with tinted windows, do you Chained? :)

I gave up that job when I came to Lit. Instead think of it in a "oh look what I found" voice to Smiley. lol

I don't have a clue what you just said, but you sound highly literate, so you have that going for you.

And you have boobies.

I think exclusivity is very rare on Lit really, and I think that is part of the reason people are on here.

I think that it would be unusual for someone to expect it, but maybe I am wrong. It all depends on what some is actually looking for I suppose, and if they meet someone looking for the same thing.

I think I am rambling....

I think the question's brought out a lot of rambling :D
If you've got tits you can kinda get away with it though

yeah, you see, I don't have tits....so I am already on to a losing streak!

1 dude
1 exclusive chick
1 side wannabe hook up dalliance with another, that says no.

That makes one too many.

Woopsie!

Tits up!

I wonder how many of us fool around here because we want to avoid fooling around in real life. I'm guessing a lot of us.

On another note, for me, I'm here to have a good time and learn some things. I'm not here to get into a relationship full of jealousy and expectations. Perhaps I have a skewed vision of what being exclusive online means. I'm not saying I have multiple 'partners' but I like the freedom and power I get from Lit, and an exclusive relationship would screw all that up.

And I agree that defining sexual exclusivity is individual. Masturbating with someone over Skype is not a betrayal to my marriage, because I have full permission from my husband to do so. Not everyone can say that, I realize. Now, forming an emotional attachment to that person beyond a friendship would indeed be inappropriate. I think I'm getting off topic.

I have been in an exclusive relationship, aka marriage, irl for years. Unwilling to risk having an actual physical affair for many reasons, I come here. I am one of those whom FakeASmile referenced, like a kid in a candy shop. I am upfront about it. Now, I don' t rule out the possibility of exclusivity, and if I found that mutual connection with someone, I would definitely go there. In the meantime, I' m just enjoying the sweets. :D

Is being lost in all this what you all are talking about?

I do believe in: have fun, do not willingly harm.

I never promised someone here I was exclusively his, but I don't rub this fact under noses either. Who wants to believe, may do so, if such a someone gets too lost in his believings, I'll tenderly correct.

This^^^^ but I'm usually pretty upfront about the fact that I'm just here for fun. My real life is complicated enough, I have no space in my life for drama, jealousy, and the like.

Exactly!

Well, a little jealousy's ok . . . ;)
