Sadly it has to be choice number 1. As to other media, Lit wins for communicating with folks and keeping in touch. Yahoo is too buggy. More Skype contacts would be nice; still learning the ropes there. Really no great interest in Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

It's Friday. A short week that's seemed long at times. How good is your radar for picking up on when things aren't what they seem. Do you question immediately or do you wait, trying to gather more information? Either way, once you're sure things aren't what they seem, is it best to confront or to let things just slip away?

It depends on how close you are with the one you are worrying about.
I wouldn't "confront", I would just ask if everything is ok, and what can I do to help make things better. :rose:

I always trust my intuition. In real life, it' s usually spot on. But if we' re talking about here, I don' t confront. I hang back and wait, watching. Then, like Thandi said, maybe ask some gentle questions.

Very good. I wish it wasnt so good sometimes, simply because I get tired of noticing every damn little thing.
I let people bullshit me because 1) I dont care, 2) I get enough of what I want not to risk it. If that is not the case, I confront right away.
The worst thing is, once I make up my mind, and that is pretty fast, there is very small chance I will be convinced in anything else.

Tends to surprise even those who know me relatively well, because mostly I am easy go laid back low maintenance person. Heard my husband say once "you can get away with just about everything with her if you are honest, but try to bullshit her and you better have your escape route planned".
I am sure he plans his escape routes very well :D

Unfortunately, it's very good, both in real life and on Lit.

I say "unfortunately" because this means that I'm unable to ignore that vague nagging feeling in my head when it occurs. History has showed me that I have an uncanny knack for sensing a looming problem, even when there seems to be no logical evidence for it. I'm generally quite optimistic, too, so it's not just a product of irrational dread.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes, it's best to just let events run their course, armed with the awareness that trouble may be on its way. At other times, it can save time and effort to bring things to a head myself -- possibly also making it easier for others by doing so.

I hope I'm good at it, but I have been surprised a time or two. I enjoy wandering the forums trying to figure out why everyone is here. Once you figure that out, you can generally figure out the person. I'll leave a cryptic or not so cryptic post if the bullshit is too blatant, but I don't take anything here personal or overly serious.

I feel like my radar is pretty spot on. I can usually sense a problem from a mile away. There is the rare Master Of Disguise who may be able to fool me. But typically I can sense things rather well.

Now, that's good and bad. Because sometimes, I press it when it shouldn't be pressed. I like to try to fix things and I feel like my way is best. Prepare for time to stand still, fuckers, but I'm about to do something rarely done on the Internet- admit a fault of mine!!! (This even comes after I publicly apologized on the Internet yesterday- a twofer!!!) Sometimes when I think my way is best, it's not. It's always well intended, but oh lord I'm a dipshit some days.

So, I say all that to say this- being able to sense problems puts me in no better situation to fix them. In fact, I often make it worse. It's like a mozzy bite. If you don't notice it, it doesn't bother you. But the moment you notice it, you have to scratch that thing until it hurts.

One other side note related to less serious things... I do absolutely love searching out bullshit. Like, the ridiculous stories and stuff that people give sometimes. Those are amazing. I'll waste countless hours researching and coming up with back stories, for absolutely nothing of value. I'm that cool.

So just know if any of you ever post some story about the time you were in a samurai gang in Japan that kills Yakuza bosses, know that I, along with another immature dickhead, have been creating characters to go along with this story.

It's a fun filled Saturday. To that end, how so you describe having fun on Lit. Is it the naughty PMs, flirting in the threads, looking at cat pics, it just bouncing from thread to thread?

I have fun by interacting with others. It's why I like forums in general. If it was nothing more than picture threads and some jokes I wouldn't enjoy it. I've made very real connections. I have people here that I call friends. That's why I keep coming back. Also, a little naughty fun every once in awhile is nice.

For what it's worth, I'll readily admit to a similar fault. Although I'm fairly sensitive to people's moods, that doesn't necessarily make me any better at knowing how best to handle them, and I regularly get that wrong.

That's a good analogy; at least, I recognise it as very appropriate. :)

In my case, I'm catching up on the threads that I frequent and seeing what some of my Lit friends have been up to. I've sent a couple of e-mails and PMs but I haven't viewed any cat pics or done any bouncing. ;)

I agree with you completely that the dynamic nature of a forum is the most exciting aspect. I do read the Lit stories, but not usually unless someone here has referenced them (e.g. saying "I like this story because..." in a thread) and thereby established an immediate human connection to them.

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT: Lit is supposed to be FUN?
I must have missed the fine print on that one.

*slinks away, grumbling*

I enjoy the discussions about gender/sexuality/feminism because those are close to my heart but then some of the fun threads have had me crying with laughter. It all depends on the right chemistry of people: just like RL.

D) All of the above.

Perusing the "gif" threads can be arousing, to say the least. Discussion threads are great; I've mostly lurked on those, but some of them are very informative in both personal histories and more importantly, different perspectives. I very much enjoy the "declarative" threads like "smile", "FUCK", "I am", or "I think". I try reading the last page of those everyday; the glimpses into people's lives can be quite revealing even when expressed in just a few words. But my favorites are the "fun" threads: "ABC of" just about anything and especially "ban the....". They give everybody a chance to demonstrate their wit and creativity.

I am a bit introverted, so meeting new people is not always on my "to do" list. Yet, through the personals and through the threads, I've met many fun, interesting, intelligent people. One person in particular has helped me get through a very difficult time in my real life (and no matter how hard I try, I will never be able to thank her enough).

Different days mean different moods, mean different things are entertaining on Lit.

Sometimes spending time on the threads is all I need, without any interaction with individuals.

Other times, I look for the one to one chats with regulars, people I know, like old friends chatting over a beer.

Sometimes, I like to seek new people that I haven't met before and chat. No agenda, just like to meet new people.

I come here for the cock themed avatars. Isn't that why we are all here if we are honest with ourselves? That shiny, veiny bangstick staring you right in the face without invitation...

Actually, I find those quite useful as a reminder to go and check how my asparagus spears are growing. No... that's not a euphemism.

I get a kick out of people watching. I wander through a few of the pic threads, enjoy the tennis match of insults on the GB, generally laugh at the worst lines I've ever read and then shake my head when they work. There's only a few forums I don't wander through unless I'm extremely bored and need to laugh.

I do a little thread bouncing - I come here, I check the Texas thread, I do a little "smiling", "appreciating", and sometimes maaaaybe even some "fucking" ;), and then spend most of the time in my own thread. I have always liked to have one place to "hang out" where a lot people who know each other spend time and just chit-chat, laugh, flirt and generally have lighthearted fun, a la Central Perk on "Friends" (only with older, more perverted people! lol) And of course there's ALWAYS those naughty PMs to be dealt with. In fact, excuse me now.....

Since I bounce around, I try to remember to go back where I posted before and see if anyone replied that I then need to re-reply (word?)

All of the above. And sending random drunkin' dick pictures. Can't forget that.

As I lay in bed, yes I'm posting while still horizontal ;) , I can feel the activities of yesterday in my muscles. Not sore, just that feeling that you know you've been busy. Kind of like that feelling that lingers after incredible sex, your body thanking you for the experience. But what kind of lingering feeling does Lit leave with you? Can you feel it in your body when you've had an exceptionally good/bad lit day?

I don't feel it in my body per se (unless it's an icky kinda shake it off sensation).
When I have had bad days here I tend to reflect and step back. I take Lit breaks, which seem to work for me.

Good days on the other hand, I feel all warm and fuzzy;)
I appreciate my friends, and I let them know. :rose:
