I must confess that I have sometimes done this. Whilst Lit life is somewhat distant from RL, I'm unable to isolate completely my feelings about it. If I believe that a Lit exchange has gone badly, then I do sometimes worry about it and reflect on how I might improve things. Compared to RL, though, my options for sorting it out are limited. For example, if I've posted something ill-considered in a forum thread, then my only option to make amends is to do it in public. I don't often find myself in that position in RL.I definitely think we all carry a Lit personality that's different than RL. sometimes Lit seems so much simpler. Walk in, say what you want, walk back out. But RL doesn't work that way. I've never woke up in the middle of the night thinking about Lit, never gotten nervous wondering how a Lit chat might go, never had to undertake something unpleasant because it was part of the Lit deal. With the long weekend, wouldn't it be great if RL was as simple as Lit?
So, whilst I probably agree that Lit life is generally less complicated than RL, I don't believe that it is unreservedly so.
Hi billygoat! Thanks for de-lurking. I like to make a special point of welcoming quiet and shy people, as I've been there myself and I know how it feels.I joined to read the stories and slowly ventured out to some of the forums. Reading the stories allowed me to see there is a lot of variety out there and slowly I began to comment on the forums. For me it mostly a comfort level. Quiet and shy in real life so Lit allows me to slowly break out of a shell.
I'm the same. For better or worse, I think most of my RL quirks get expressed in my Lit postings unless I deliberately suppress them, which I don't do often.I think my RL personality is fairly close to my Lit one. I never really thought about being someone different.
For a moment there, I thought you were talking about RL; I was marvelling at your drone technology, and feeling slightly fearful.Wouldn't it though? I think that' s a huge part of the appeal of websites in general, and certainly this one. A simple click of a button, *poof*, asshat deleted.

...I could have written that myself, tho perhaps not as well
