I would. First, I generally tell my friends about my dreams any way, since I personally find dreams fascinating and it often leads to interesting conversations. Second, depending on the specifics of the dream, there may be some sort of cautionary lesson in that your friend needs to hear. I am superstitious like that.

Yes...if they're a good friend then discussing your dream would be natural . I once had a very heart wrenching dream about my best girlfriend. I woke up crying and had this terrible feeling of dread. I had to call her to make sure she was okay. All was fine and in the end we had a great conversation and a chuckle.
I'm superstitious as well and would find it hard not to call.

Oh dear... can I beg to disagree? Other people's dreams are only interesting when you can watch the pained look in their face when they say "and then suddenly I was in a park, only it wasn't a park it was a kinda open space but fenced in and there was this tree only it wasn't a tree and I had a red cape only...":)

but if I had a dream that seemed like a portent of doom then I'd say something. I've had conversations with people I've known who have passed on, which was actually quite a nice experience.

I've spent the last five minutes wondering what a guide friend was, do you hunt, fish?

Anyway, I think if it was any friend and I was seeing him today I'd tell him. It left disturbing, sad thoughts with you. Relay that to him.

Hello Saturday Litiquette-izans. Looking at the sky it appears the storm clouds are gone and there's nothing but beautiful Lit sunshine filling the room. This morning's topic: last night I dreamt a guide friend died. There seems to be no explanation for the dream. When I see him today, should I tell him about the dream? Why or why not?
Since a dream like that probably means that subconsciously you are in some way drifting apart from that friend--feel that the relationship is in some way 'dying' I think I would mention it.
First though I would look carefully at where the dream came from. They are IMO bubbles from our inner selves. If my interpretation is correct then ask yourself if it's ok with you that the relationship is gaining distance or if you want to try and repair it.

Another interpretation would be that you see this person as going blindly into a perilous situation--not necessarily life threatening but something in which they face great loss.
If that's the case then ask yourself if it's your business to intervene.

I guess it depends on how the dream made you feel.
I once had a dream my mom died. I went to her immediately and hugged her..telling her about the dream. She didn't say anything but she had smile on her face and tears in her eyes. I'm not great at expressing how I feel so I think she realized how much that shook me up and would tear me apart if she died.

If you plan to go to your friend laughing about his death....keep it to yourself. :)

I love when I see new posters in the thread. I often wonder how long they watched before they posted, why they chose now to post, and if they had had been wanting to but hadn't for one reason or another. Which leads me to, what makes you post on any given thread?

And for the record, I didn't tell the friend. The dreamed involved a long hospital stay and I was there at the end. It's not like I could tell him to avoid a rock falling on his head.......

I used to really think that I had a psychic bond with the people I cared about, that if they died, I would feel it, or dream about it, somehow I would just KNOW.

Then my best friend died. He was in a headon collision in Texas. I had no idea, I found out from another mutual friend calling almost a week later. My father died of a heart attack maybe a few months later. I never saw that one coming either.

If there is something you need to say to your friend, say it now. That is my advice to everyone. Say what you need to say while you can say it to them.

Thisthat! People don't say 'I love you' enough or thank someone for something that meant a lot to you years ago. Why does it have to be some cathartic event that breaks down that barrier?

But why do I post? I'll answer questions where I can and sometimes get involved in discussions that go on for quite a while. I think I post with more care now, having been torpedoed by more knowledgeable people: you know what they say, 'when you're talking you learn nothing. You can only learn when you listen.' So I'll shut up now :)
Oh, and sometimes discussions are USA-based, which is fine too - I just sit on my hands for those :)

I like your posts most of the time. They show thoughtfulness. I suppose I usually post because something captures my attention, either on an intellectual level, or an emotional one. Sometimes I follow certain people.

I have lost a great many people throughout my time.
Always tell the people you love, that you do love them. Often.

Some sort of connection to the topic or the people.
If there's a bunch of asshats posting, I will not bother.

Depends on if it was a horrific death. If it was silly then go ahead and have a laugh, if it was a horrific death maybe not. Bad omens plus the friend might think you want to off them.

I post because I have stuff to say.

Btw...I had a dream that my Lit friend called and wanted to know why we're not having coffee.

Did the dream friend's flight meet the mileage requirement for a 'no coffee' meeting?

We have a winner!

Thanks to all those that submitted. The choice was tougher than I thought and came down to a choice between two pictures.

Congrats to Thandi, I forgot what she's won but I'm sure it's something 'big' ;)

Where's Perky when you really need glitter?!

*new poster* lol. In this case a thread titled 'litiquette' seemed an appropriate place to start. Being new I look for a thread where I can follow the rules to the best of my ability...to start anyway;)

Happy daylight savings time! Sure we "lost an hour of sleep but I prefer DST so it's worth it.

Which brings me to our next topic. How much are you willing to suffer for Lit. What rules have you broken to be here, what have you given up big or small, to be able to chat. Has it been worth it?

I won't suffer for Lit. If it is infringing too much into my RL, it goes.
I have made my own set of rules for being here.
