Since there doesn't seem to be anything else on the table at the moment, could we get back to basics for a bit?
A friend and I were talking and the subject of 'post stalking' came up. It turns out we have 2 slightly different definitions.
Can we have a Lit Lexicon and settle this stuff once and for all?
 
I define it as looking at all of a persons posts and seeing what they are up to. Not a bad thing necessarily. Although some would describe that as puts lurking and then move it to stalking when a person replies every time you post. Huh, I guess I wasn't real definitive , was I?

That's the trouble, we all toss around these terms as if we all know what they mean. They might mean very different things to each of us.

I'd always thought of "post stalking" as reading all of a single person's posts (i e going to their profile page to find them) but when I sort of jokingly called my friend a post stalker for knowing a couple of the last things I'd said it was taken badly. Seems his definition is different than mine, and instead of harmless keeping up it's more like eavesdropping.

So which is what and what is which?
All these words we use--maybe we actually need to set down what they mean

Interesting. I like to keep up with my friends (and those that are a tad more), and check to see what they've been up to. They do the same with me.
I would think most do it.

I consider this checking people's posts to see what they've been up to. I do it more so for people I just meet...especially if I get a p.m. from them. It helps me get a feel for the personality of the person. Thread post stalking is a bit different ...when someone seems to pounce on every post you make...it can get weird.

Agree with Ruby. I call it 'stalking' or 'sleuthing' someone when checking up on what they've said here.

I know a litster, her Lit name had something to do with Red...she started a Literotica Dictionary thread.

It taught me some of the LitLingo.

Does anyone remember her UserName?
