On the question of the wild, wild, wild Internet of unrestricted speech versus moderated speech I have to say I tend to enjoy moderated speech bulletin boards better.

The best have a clear set of rules, diligent oversight, and the community commitment to not tolerate that worst 10% of Internet posters. It is amazing the difference that shaving off a handful of bad actors can make.

The worst are arbitrary and capricious or moderation is doled out based on favoritism. Those can be pretty ugly.

It's a delicate balance and I actually think this place is fairly decent. Yes, there is drama, but it's rather easy to ignore both with the mind and with the ignore tool.

Of course one of the really cool things about the Internet is that we can belong to as many communities as we have time to play in. We can belong to all kinds of communities for all kinds purposes which is totally awesome.

I'm not a First Amendment absolutist. Conversations that disrupt others' ability to post and clog up several threads should be moderated; it's a violation of the social contract. And the actions of a domme's attack dog should moderated, too

I seem to have missed some drama over the last days again. And odd penises .

Name-calling is pretty low on the scale of how adults deal with disagreements though.
However, it tends to backfire on the persons doing so, people don't engage with those who do this a lot. Not in RL and not on the internet. Except in the GB.

I prefer a moderately (not) moderated board over a too strictly moderated one, because it is more 'alive'.
