Another wild day in Litiquetteville :)

Not exactly a pure Litiquette topic, but what's the wildest thing you've seen or been apart of at Lit. It has to be something that happened on the boards or in PM. Someone new to Lit should know what's possible or what they may be in for ;)

I kinda love it when noobs post on the General Board...I know it's mean, but sometimes I can't help but laugh when they roast the heck out of somebody...

^^This and the papierkorb-debacle on the german boards. It is still an issue!

I remember some female coming on, her name escapes me now,
Her soul ambition was to seduce her brother. Everyone took the rise out of her and she eventually fucked off

Actually, some of the wildest things i have read here were in Mickyp123p's PMs.
Now seriously, i am quite new here to know. :D

I didn't realise you had a mean streak Ella  I'd PMd one or two lost souls who have inadvertently posted in the GB. I got stung there once myself and being set upon by that crowd isn't very nice

And then there is the legendary Gummy Bear Train Incident of 2013. Edensgarden will have to explain that debacle...

Gummy Bears? Oh No!

Ooo! Can you slip us some sordid details?

Good morning Litiquette-izans.

I posted yesterday about "unloading on someone" forgetting that was an American saying if not regional within the States. I enjoy the phrases and terms that come along with the language and how it's used across the world. My favorite British expression is "half 7" for what we in the States would call 7:30. I was very confused as to why someone would want to meet for breakfast at 3:30 (half 7, get it? )

Does Lit have any unique terms and phrases that would be useful to share?

Half seven would mean 6.30 to me ...

I don't think I have any phrases to share but I'll be watching the answers!

How about this..

In the UK we abbreviate, so half-7 comes from half-past 7 ( no one would ever say "half an hour past seven")

Best one I know was from a UK gent staying with US friends. They'd agreed to get up early and the UK man said to her "I'll come and knock you up in the morning". Knocking someone up normally means knocking on their door to wake them up.

Mid morning snack;)

How many of you sneak a peek at Lit during your work day. Do you peek, post, or have PM exchanges? Ever been caught? What was your cover and did it work?

I peek. I post. I play. Hell, I even post pictures at work (off of my personal computer, not my office computer, of course).

Never been caught, although I know one of my coworkers either reads stories here on Lit or plays on the forums. So it remains a possibility, and I take special pains to remain discrete.

Depends, are there other asinine Englishmen at your job or are you the only one? If it's the latter, I don't think it'll be hard for them to deduce who you are, so being discreet won't matter. :p

Discrete and discreet are homophones. Both are actual words. I just happened to use the wrong one, because I use discrete on a daily basis. :p

My work is littered with asinine Englishmen. You should drop by for a spell. Guaranteed amusement. ;)

At any rate, I'm discrete about the fact that I'm on Lit at all.

I check whenever I can. I do not post as much, though. I do respond to all PMs, and I'm learning to regret that. .
Never been caught. However, being "caught" would indicate I'm doing something "wrong," an accusation I emphatically deny.

Oh, good. So you're basically camouflaged then? A company full of asinine Englishmen....tempting.

I think you used the wrong "discreet" again. :)

Being 'caught' doesn't necessarily mean you're doing a bad thing. Christmas Eve, you definitely don't want your child catching you wrap his/her presents. :p

Sometimes you want to be 'caught' when you're doing a very good thing. ;)

Exactly! But we all operate in discrete locations. I don't think society could handle us all concentrated in one location.

Psa

I call Kal an "asinine Englishman", among other things, as a joke. He's my muffin and definitely isn't shy about taking shots at me, so s'cool. :)

Just clarifying because of anonymous concerns. No drama here.

She's lying. She knows that every time she calls me an Asinine Englishman, a small part of me dies. And an unfinished muppet also falls from the sky.

This calls for a mud-slinging drama war.

I can remember opening a pm while on holiday in a hotel lobby in Florida, I had no idea what the picture content was, as it scrolled down and opened FUCK, esc did not work so i stood up in front of the screen until i got rid of it, JBQ at her finest:heart:

That explains the green stuff that fell into my garden, she's clearly kermitted:D

*chuckle* Inside joke. :p

She had the temerity to call a young albatross an unfinished muppet. I almost want to hang one around her neck, as punishment....

lol. Lit in public places? That's a scary thought. :D
