I'm a little alty. I've had really good massage therapists who knew their anatomy who could work out horrible spasms and knots that had me seriously laid up. I haven't tried acupuncture, but acupressure, neuromuscular therapy, and Feldenkrais really work. I take oscillococcinum (a homeopathic remedy) at the first sign of the flu and it knocks it right out. Various other things I've tried don't seem to work, and I've never tried the oddball stuff like drinking breast milk.

I have a friend that is a massage therapist, and she is the only one that can get my back in alignment when it totally goes out. So I agree with you on that.

Otherwise; chemicals are the only thing keeping me alive. At 900 years old, look this good you will not, hmmmm

And I will drink breast milk, but only straight from the tap

Ok. Late question. So. I watched TV today. Yep. That happened
Netflix: “Unwell”
And basically it starts with essential oils and then goes into tantra and yoni massage and then fasting and using breast milk as a nutritional supplement — it showcases enthusiasts of these alternative healing modalities and then also people who have had negative experiences with them.

Some are pretty extreme, I think! Like grown people drinking breast milk to build more muscle at the gym?! That’s a thing?!?

So I’m curious what everyone thinks about alternative medicine. From the seemingly normal world of homeopathy to the comparatively bizarro world of buying breast milk on the black market...

How alty are you?

I've been to the chiropractor. Does that count?

I've been to a chiropractor. It didn't help, but he was hot so I kept going back. He tugged my hair, popped my toes, and pulled my legs out while I giggled and screeched. It was Heaven. Almost as good as sex.

I guess maybe it did help!

I'm afraid to ask...

Lol! I don't use shampoo. I do a modified version of the Curly Girl method of hair care.

Okay! I thought of some more:

*Honey and lemon juice for a cough
*Warm salt water gargle for a sore throat
*Pure peppermint extract works a treat (better than clove oil, in my opinion) on a toothache if you haven't got any Oragel.
*Arnica for bruises
*BEN-GAY and a massaging heating pad for muscle aches
*Coconut oil (in the baking aisle) as a skin moisturizer
*Baking soda, brown sugar, ACV for hair
*Epsom salts for a foot soak
*My ex mother-in-law swears by Watkins' Petro-Carbo salve
*Gentian violet on my nipples for thrush in a nursing baby
*Goldenseal powder on a newborn's umbilical stump
*Witch hazel for irritated lady bits during a yeast infection
*Bag Balm for chapped hands
*Peppermint Zing Sinus Sauna! http://thedeliberateagrarian.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-make-enjoy-peppermint-zing-sinus.html?m=1
*Strips of aloe for minor burns
*Vicks VapoRub for congestion (I prefer the cream)
*TTO in a humidifier
*My homebirth kits always included a postpartum bath tea. I don't remember what was in it but it smelled AMAZING and it made me feel pampered. Like a Birthing Queen! 👑

Are these alty? They seem normal to me, most are things my family has done forever. I like a holistic approach to medicine. If I think my kid legit needs antibiotics or anxiety meds, I'm on the phone getting an appointment set up, but for a lot of the little things, yeah, I'm going to treat them at home when I can. Doesn't everybody do this?

I don't know what I was expecting, but that wasn't it. Phew.

I don't think those things are alty, but I didn't think massages were either and it seems they might be? If so, I'm alty AF.

Another late-in-the-day question. This one I am dedicating to Indie, our resident Alice in Wonderland fan girl.

Rabbit Holes.
We all go down them.
Get sucked into them.
Dig our ways out of them.

Different things pose a rabbit hole threat to different people.

So, what’s your rabbit hole?

(And don’t just say “Lit” - that’s cheating - a better answer would be “Intense Dear-Litster-Related Detective Work when it’s way past my bedtime, for example) ;)

^^^Lol! ;)
I couldn’t pose a question about going down a rabbit hole without a shout out to you, Indie :)

Ok, now that's out of the way...

People. I fall down rabbit holes with people easily. I'm curious. I want to know everything. But I've realised more than a few times that I dig so deep that it's mistaken for intimacy and then it's like "oh shit! Abort! Abort!" Other times, I embrace the intimacy. And I dig myself deeper until I get to a point where I feel my feet may never touch the ground again.

I fall into rabbit holes with strangers on Facebook. I'll click on random people's profiles that I don't even know and look through all their public pictures and posts until I can tell you the name of their kids and what their favorite sports teams are. #totalcreeper

Oh, and porn. I'll find one thing I like, then I'll click on suggested videos and before I know it some hot young thing's gaping asshole is staring back at me and I start to question my life choices.

Maybe like a good massage video indie? 😈

So, what’s your rabbit hole?

That's pretty fucking personal, innit?

I'm copping out here, same answer as pmann's thread even if it's a different question. Music. I can get so lost in the whole "other artists you might like" function on streaming services. Or the YouTube side bar list of songs. Going to Lyrics Genius and checking the annotations, or *nerd alert*, annotating on Lyrics Genius. But if I learn something there or just generally want to know more about an artist or album, hello Wikipedia and the references. Sometimes, another *nerd alert*, I even write about music. Like some Ringer or blog type shit that I never post but I think people might like if I did.

I'm right down the Bruce Springsteen rabbit hole right now. Someone told me to listen to Atlantic City and damnit how did I not know this song until now? I'm going to do all the things listed above.

Definitely YT for me. It could be politics, history, fashion, music, art, beauty tips, skin care routines. I start and I get lost for hours. Animal videos (Dogs, cat and Panda) compilations are the worse though. I go on forever with those. LOL

As for Lit. I have done the "detective" work with one person. But like really thorough work. :D It was a great read though and it gave me enough clues. ;)

As QC said, i often get caught down the rabbit hole with music on youtube and the suggested songs but the deepest ones tend to be porn, whether its pics or vids. Theres been more than the odd occasion where ive found myself desperately scraping at the walls to climb my way out *shudders*. There is some fucked up shit that can be stumbled upon at times lol.

I spend hours on YouTube also. I'll start with a song, then look at the lyrics video, then notice other artists that have covered it, then see reaction videos like Bruddah Sam, and on and on. If it's a showtune, I have to watch the whole show, of course.

I started reading the Wikipedia article on something the other night and found myself clicking on every link and reference. I may have a new obsession.

I started reading the Wikipedia article on something the other night and found myself clicking on every link and reference. I may have a new obsession.

OMG! I do that too. :D I always want to know the sources be that on Wikipedia or books. I've found a lot of interesting books clicking on those ref. links though.

Funny thing about going down the rabbit hole with sources. One night I decided to go to a website and check for information regarding some events that happened during the end of WWII and right after the liberation here in Italy.

I am quite good with filtering the information and analyzing. Dissect everything, see the bias, read between the lines etc. I have done in school for many years what is called "Political information", but that's another story.

Anyway, I was not ignorant at all on the subject. I am a nerd when it comes to WWII. Albeit I'm more attracted to battles and strategies etc., and I also know the territories and the counties involved. But I wanted to know more and possibly get to the bottom of it, once and for all, because it is such a controversial subject still today here. I know, very optimistic or delusional. lol

I spent a lot of time reading.Clicking link after link and drinking a lot of coffee. I started around midnight and I stopped at 9 am in the morning. My head was spinning because of all that material I had to absorb. https://i.imgur.com/wKpmkNF.gif And yet...I felt like I had learned nothing new.

I decided the truth was in between and that was that.:D

So, what’s your rabbit hole?

Similar to Indie I can fall down rabbit holes with people. I’m naturally curious, inquisitive and I love to ask questions and just generally get to know people. But I think sometimes I forget that not everyone is as inquisitive or curious and I think fuck, I must be doing their head in because I like to talk, a lot :D

Tumblr, B&W images. Oh my Lord, I can get lost down that rabbit hole for hours!! Then come here and post way too many of them because I get carried away at how beautiful they are. Then I find myself back on Tumblr, browsing, clicking more and more.

Music, much the same as QC, I love finding new music, artists, bands and I get lost down that rabbit hole almost daily. Oh look, here’s some artists you may like and I just can’t say no. But it’s amazing when you find some new music. I heard a song yesterday from a French artist and I downloaded her music, I have no idea what she’s saying but....it doesn’t matter, her voice is beautiful and the music is just fab!!

Alright so Filthy Friday is back!

Today’s question is both controversial, and a throwback to the original roots of this thread - Lit Etiquette.

Databases.
Batting LineUps.
Harems.
Stables.

Everrrrryone claims they know not of what I speak, and never do they ever participate in such shenanigans! I’m skeptical.

So, who will own up to keeping a stable or harem of Lit hotties at your disposal? Who’s been in one before? Knowingly? Unwittingly? What was your experience? And, as a stable or harem keeper, how did you shoulder *all the responsibility*? :)

This discussion is, of course, all in good fun, and if ya boil it down, the real question is: Just how social a *cough* naked lit butterfly are you? ;)

Databases.
Batting LineUps.

I got far too excited at these two things and thought this was going in a far different direction. Can I request we nerd out on baseball sometime soon?

I don't think even my colour coded spreadsheets could possibly keep a harem or stable straight for me. What I really want to know is are you made aware if you are in one? And is leadoff in this lineup better than clean up? Do you take practice swings when you're on deck? The best position has to be in the hole? How awkward is it when the manager decides you need to finish in the showers and calls for the lefty?

Ha, still made it about baseball... sort of.

Never had any of those things. People always thought I did, but nah. Never been my style.
