You just conflated Monday Monday with California Dreaming

I hated Monday Monday but loved California Dreaming. So you all got what I love. Same original band. Must say I have since seen better covers of both songs

As many have noted, my topics/questions are written with a fair bit of ambiguity, and that’s by no accident. I think the value in the response is in they way the topic is interpreted. I would say that >75% of the time the conversation goes a different direction than where I thought it would, and that’s the real value. I think seeing differing perspectives is where the real answer lives, not in a finite this or that type question.

That all being said, where are you comfortable with ambiguity in your life and wear does the finite absolutely have to live? As time passes do things move from ambiguous to finite or vice versa? Or are there absolutes, that have always been and will always be?

I need structure, stability, security. That's simply where I function best. Anyone I live with or work with or let into my life on any type of intimate basis has to offer that in some form or fashion. I may be temporarily charmed by more feckless types and situations, but I never engage or dabble in more than a superficial manner. No criticism intended. Those types of situations just don't work to my personality's benefit.

*shrugs*

I am an upfront, reserved, literalist, with impossibly high expectations and a smattering of control freak.

Ambiguity is the Devil. :D

I enjoy having a plan and then improvising.

The one absolute is that there are an infinite number of possibilities.

As I work on my list of absolutes I accept that a lightning strike could be only seconds away.

I think a general sense of morality could be considered a near absolute, but that may have to be abandoned if things go sideways.

It’s an option anyway. Sorry to be so ambiguous.

I’m good having a (loose) plan, but I don’t need every detailed ironed out.
And I’m equally okay without a plan and seeing where I end up.

Too much order, structure, lists and everything must be by the book makes me feel claustrophobic.
All that ^^^^ doesn’t make me feel safe, what makes me feel secure is knowing that I’m quite capable of making a decision and not knowing exactly the outcome.
It is what it is and I’ll go from there.
Even more so as I get older.

Two years ago I planned (not planned) a family camping vacation to Canada.
3800 miles round trip
3 National Parks
Crossed a border
No reservations anywhere.

I did my research, had a pretty good idea of what to expect, embraced surprises and it was the best vacation I’ve ever had.
I want my kids to be similar in this thinking as well.
Life is to short to get held up on trivial shit. Don’t spend more than 5 minutes worrying about something if in 5yrs it won’t even matter.

Me too...and here is a short list of words that describe things that will drive me crazy:

inexplicable, inadvertent, unexpected, intermittent, temporarily, un-envisioned, ambiguous, incomprehensible, enigmatic, unaccountable, unintelligible, etc.

You get the idea...

I'll agree with unexpected, temporary, unintelligible, and OMG, unaccountable (presuming the secondary definition).

But you forgot equivocation.

For the love of *something* say what you mean!

My executive function short circuits when I have to wade through layers of dubious meaning. 😂

I only have one absolute. Honesty. Now the weird thing about being truthful...I can be totally honest today...and come back tomorrow and say I don't know wtf I was thinking...this is how I really feel. And both days...I was totally honest. So maybe the absolute is less about honesty and more about the attempt to be honest? Let me just call that investment honesty. The rest of life can be pretty fucking ambiguous and i can adapt.

Edit: this does not matter if I am talking about myself...or anyone around me. The truth last night remains the truth this morning

This^. And it isn't a matter of complete transparency. Your business is your own, but don't misrepresent situations that impact me in order to avoid conflict or simply ease your way.

Don't be an informed-choice thief.

Seriously, probably my biggest pet peeve. It ties with people that can't/won't make a genuine apology.

Grrrr.

Okay. You lost me here. :p

I’m contemplating starting a new series of Questions, I’ll call it the “Why Series”(sure I should probably make a different thread for it but it’s not that far off topic and I’d rather it be here for simplicity)

The Why Series puts almost no value in the answer while placing all the value in the why? Ambiguity vs Clarity, why do you prefer the one you do? Tells how you think, what makes sense to you. No judgements being placed, it’s a cathartic process by which we all grow and learn more about our other Litsters.

Let’s start with a basic yet really hard topic to test drive the new concept.

Why is ______ your favorite color?

Mine have always been Blue and Pink. I honestly cannot tell you why. They've just always been my favorite.
However. For different reasons. Color combinations. Black and Pink has always been my favorite combo. Especially on a car.
But clothing. I look best in Red or Purple.

Black - because I am partially color-blind to shades of red, green & brown, and shades of blue, violet & purple. But life is not bland . . . I can appreciate color, just don't always know what color it is. :)

Blue, because I’m forced to pick one. I have a list of stock answers to questions that can’t be answered—favorite movie, song, book, color, etc.

Without all the other colors one color would be unbearable, so picking one is insane. But it’s a question that people ask, so I have to go with blue.

I guess it’s like when you’re a kid and you have to share your crayons, there is one that you will not share. I will not share blue. :D

Black is the unknown. Mysterious yet confident.
Sophisticated and sings rebellious.
It’s bold but can also play as the void.
Timeless and aways sexy.
🖤

It is that purple-blue color over the Pacific ocean after the sun has set 15 minutes prior. I feel peace. And I go silent.

You've seen those pics...is the shoe brown? Or Yellow? People see color differently. So for me, colors that speak to me reflect my mood.

Blue.

Why? It is peace, happiness, serenity.

Plus, it complements my coloring. In a wide variety of shades. :cattail:

Because you look amazing in it? ;)

lol

It does compliment my features, true. But so do other colours like purple, blue royal, black and white. However, I do love red on a wall too, sheets, paintings and other objects.

Blue because that's the color I wore to work every day for 20 years.

I am a man of diversity.

Protection, whether one wears some or not is always a conversation. Some don’t like how it looks , some don’t like the feel. And then there’s always the fit factor, do they fit properly, is too big better than too small. And all the color choices available seem almost endless.

So tell us, what’s your preference in sunglasses.

Nude look.

Classic. Ray Bans. Wayfarers.

I love Ray Bans too. Albeit they don't suit me.

Wayfarers black, classic. Not Ray Bans, though—I’ll never spend more than $15-$20 on sunglasses.
