Neither, apparently. The rain has cancelled the event I was supposed to help with, and squashed my BBQ plans as well.

A little vacay around these parts.

its Memorial Day for us American's, where we honor those who have given their lives in the military. Will you stop for a moment and reflect and pay a tribute or is it straight to the BBQ ;)

I already prayed this morning and remembered those I knew who passed.

No BBQ for me. I am working at the second job today.

I have no plans to be useful, I am sorry to say. Even sorrier, hearing what others are doing. I really need to volunteer more.

In the UK, we don't have a corresponding memorial on this day, but still I salute the efforts of all those who keep us safe, whether in the military or elsewhere.
.

Canadian...we do remembrance day in November. Soo..no bbq then.
So on this American holiday. ..I silently say thanks...and head to work.

Woke up thinking about a few loved ones.

No BBQ today-- took care of that yesterday in the form of a Luau for our girls' birthdays. So today is leftovers and chillaxing and playing with birthday presents :)

I interrupt our regular program to announce that Ruby's av is simply stunning. That is all.

Paid my respects to the vets that I work with, then visited my dad, and planted a flag at his grave. Said a prayer for him and my uncle (both Army), together again.

We've been at the lake since Thursday evening and are just now starting the journey home. I'm probably looking at 4+ hours in the car. So no BBQ today, but I got plenty of that and summer kickoff fun all weekend. :D

We did attend a memorial service this morning at the Veterans Park in a town near the cottage. It was a lovely, heartfelt affair - I swear, small towns do those types of things far better than any bigger city memorial event I have attended. It was wonderful. And a pancake breakfast fundraiser afterwards to boot! :)

Last but not least...Ruby and her av are absolutely stunning - I wholeheartedly agree. ;)

Summer has started, unofficially, and it couldn't come soon enough. I know for you aussies the winter is about to set in and before you know it Christmas in July will be upon you. Why is it we find other cultures and customs so intriguing and often times ours barely get our attentions?

I guess I'm thinking specifically of California - they were saying on one of the Sunday morning shows that I watch that the deserts there hadn't bloomed much in years because of the drought. And since they got so much rain this winter, it was supposedly a spectacular spring in the desert as far as blooming plants.

The pictures that I saw were pretty stunning. But who knows? Photoshop. :p

I spent a little time in the desert on my last vacation. It wasn't green, but I was surprised by the variety of plants that thrive there. It really was beautiful.

The Paris Accord situation has me a bit swamped at the moment. I wish I was that guy on the bed, for a variety of reasons
