I find that the insecurity is the lingering aspect. If I'm asked to make a speech or deliver a presentation to a large audience, then I'll jump at the chance and I'll probably do a good job of it, because I've been given a legitimate role to fulfil and that fires up my engines. On the other hand, if you throw me into an informal party where people are just there to enjoy themselves then I'll probably clam up and crawl off to the kitchen where I can appoint myself as chief washer-upper.I faced my shyness head on as well. I accepted a position that is approximately 90% public speaking. I knew it would be difficult, almost impossible. I also knew it would force me out of my shell. Now, I can talk to groups about anything. I may still feel insecure at times, particularly in one on one situations, but that's a different issue. I'm working on that one, too.![]()
