Literotica Forum Update: Share Your Feedback, Issues & Requests

That's a really, really unfortunate change. For real.

EDIT: This may have been corrected in the last little bit...
Well, ya know ..... vvvvv
The issue with the photo thumbnails showing for unregistered users should be resolved now. Please let me know if you see any attachment thumbnails that are still being shown to unregistered users.

This! I don't want anything I post here shared on another platform. No one knows I come on here and I want to keep it that way. This will keep me from posting on here if that doesn't change.
Honestly though, even with the old set up, there was always the possibility of someone logging in and screen shotting something that you've posted and then sharing the screen shotted image on another platform. You're always taking a risk when posting online.

I REALLY do NOT like this new set up at all. It is not user friendly at ALL after using the old way. May just not be here as much if it stays this way. Sorry...some things are not meant to get changed...and this is NOT for the better. HOPE my opinion matters.

Of course there are always risks. But why make it easier?

You seem worried about your AV even though what I can see of it is a violation of image rules.
How is it a violation of image rules. It's just a animated gif of me and a fake penis I made a few years ago. It wasn't a problem back then when I posted it.. why is now? You're just a trouble maker who likes to cause drama, so get lost!

I agree, and I don't think it's a needed feature here. I just don't understand the logic of that feature keeping anyone from posting anymore due to fear of something being shared, when the possibility of their posts being shared against their will is always going to be a possibility regardless. Anyone can create a membership here, there is no screening process, all you need is an email. Be safe ladies. Don't post anything on here that you don't want to end up on Twitter someday, because it could happen. "Members only" privacy settings just lull you into a false sense of security.

You're right and I can see the AV without being logged in. So that is still visible  But if I click on a profile to view it. I cannot when I'm logged out. (I still can't log in from my phone so I am checking fairly easily.
I could. I was making some tests before what I could and couldn't do when logged out.
Practically, I just couldn't reply.

Again. If it is a member looking. I know they are a fellow perv. I don't care if fellow pervs see my pics. But if some rando dude is sharing my post/pic/link to his social media because it is so simple now. That scares me. There were always ways to do this before, but there was comfort in knowing not everyone was super tech savy to do this. Now all they have to do is click on that little share button.

3) Avatars/Profile Pics. These are your images which you can upload to display on your profile page and next to each post you make.

Well considering it's not a real penis, I don't think that applies to my AV. If it does, than a mod can tell me it is and I'll change it. So unless you're a mod, mind your own business.

Getting adjusted to the new layout, but so far I'm liking it and overall once I've adjusted to where things are I think this is going to make posting, editing, and messaging a lot quicker easier in the long run, so THANKS for the update guys. LOVE the new toolbar at the top of the page and that I can use that instead of getting annoying popups for new messages now. LOVE that PMs from someone are grouped together within a conversation thread for PMs instead of separate individual messages from talking back and forth with someone filling up my inbox. LOVE the "drafts" feature. LOVE that I don't have to open a new window for more in depth editing features and "preview".

Just a couple problems I am still noticing though that I hope will be fixed soon:

1. Edits to how I've realigned/cropped my profile picture is showing on my profile page, but not on the picture viewable next to my posts.
2. Male/female genders are not showing correctly on profile information.

Hey Manu, could we get some guidance for mods, maybe in the mod queue?

My questions:
1. How can I clear the notification on a reported post? I have one reported post right now, a post reported as spam that is clearly not a problematic post. I can’t seem to get rid of the notification.
2. Attaching a photo of a post I made that says it’s waiting Moderator approval….what’s that about? (Well, not attaching a photo as my screenshot is too large of a file to share).
3. I have something called approval queue with 166 notifications - the posts needing action going back to 2001. It’s looking like I need to delete all of those posts to clear the notifications. Checking “do nothing” keeps the notification.
4. Do we still need to close threads with 5K posts?

Thanks!

Personally, there is nothing that one can do to me by sharing a picture of mine.
Thankfully, it doesn't affect my relationship with family, friends or work. My friends know I am here. Even my family does, so there is that. It's not a "dirty" secret. I know that when I post a picture one can save it and do whatever they want with it. I also know that they can copy and share a post. But this idea that just because...therefore who cares, let's improve the features and make it easier, stimulate it even, it's bonkers to me.

It's like saying, because Google, FB&Co. have our data and do whatever they want with them, without us knowing (at least officially). Then, let's capitulate and give them carte blanche. Let's make a law and regulate that intrusion. Because they are doing it anyway.

In fact, why not make a share button for PM's? After all, one can make a screenshot and share it anywhere. Why have them bother and work for it. Let's make things easier and prettier for them. lol

I am in the same boat. I don't have to hide. My husband is here, and my kids know I'm a perv. But I know many others are not in that same boat. I am also a big believer in not making personal info easier to share.

Great update - cool features and I'm sure the security is vastly improved (no more posts on that issue from me 😂).
For those who don't like change and leave (they won't) there will be more who stay on now.

I came here to share thoughts about the upgrade but first...

jaF0 thank you for the posting rules excerpt. It makes it clear that no form of actual or simulated sexual intercourse is allowed. Jade's AV shows part of her face and a fake penis. The penis moves up and down but does not reach or appear to penetrate her mouth. So which form of genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal do you believe is depicted in the AV?

I've got a pretty good imagination and the only sexual act I could get from the picture is a hand job and last time I checked stroking your hand up and down a fake penis wasn't any combination of genital, oral or anal sexual intercourse. So where exactly is the perceived posting rule violation?

Now back to my original plan.

Manu,
I understand why the forum was updated I, and probably others, are struggling to understand the how.
  • How was less than one days notice considered enough time?
  • How was there no post explaining the changes so people could educate themselves to be ready for the changes?
  • How was there no initial discussion or poll on features to keep and features to drop?
Obsolescence is an issue for any system given enough time. You kept an antiquated and relatively unsecured program running for a long time because, I assume, you value and respect the folks that frequent your Forums even though many never visit the side of the site that makes you money or spend any money on that side. Sure, it's your site and you could have simply shut down the Forums because of the antiquated and unsecure software. I appreciate that you found a solution that appears to work, in general, for all parties concerned. But delivering that solution like a sucker punch makes it rather difficult not to replace the thank in thank you with a different word.

Like several of the vocal posters here I'm teetering between stay and go. A little because of the privacy concerns, some because of the methods but mostly because you destroyed the air of the place. You took the Perv Speakeasy club you'd created over he years and turned it into Litbook. It's the loss of the ambiance and experience that's most likely to drive me away once and for all. But not to worry, for every old member that tears up their card to the Speakeasy a couple of Hipsters will be ready and willing to join the shiny new place because they don't know what was here before it got turned into another Starbucks or Wetherspoon.

My feedback is unless your plan was to drive many of your established Listers away and replace them with a group that might allow you to monetize the Forum side more directly your big take away should be to consider your user base when thinking about making a big change.

Thank you for the years of support. Your site allowed me to make friends around the world and talk to them about things that would send my mother's blood pressure though the roof and cause my father to roll over in his grave. It was a rare and special place that had the power to make kinky feel normal and almost mainstream.

I wish you the best and hope you find a way to meet your user base partway and alleviate enough of their concerns that the majority decide to stay, sit in the corners in small groups, point fingers at the hipsters and laugh as they continue to talk and share their thoughts and memories about their kinks without feeling like total pervs.

Cheers

These may have been covered, but I couldn't find them in a scan of this thread:

(Later: Now there's navigation at the bottom of my page. But who knows how long it will hold? Everything is just screwing around.) 1. I can't find a way to switch directly from the discussion board to the story side. Am I missing where that is done? Quite inconvenient if you have to leave Literotica and come back in to go between the sides.

(Later: The permanent threads now have a different background color; before I last checked, they didn't in my view. So, this is taken care of. Later yet: now the background change is gone again in my view.) 2. At least in my view, there's no visual situation between the permanent threads in the forums and the discussion threads. It's irritating to look for where the current discussions start each time.

My avatar is made up of a changing collection of my erotica book covers, so I'm not happy that the avatar has gone from rectangle to oval.

Activate Me! button not working - I went to change my email address via Control Panel, verification email was sent to new address - followed the prompt for "Confirm Your Literotica Email Change" - that opened the signup_activation page with Username and Activation code in place - went to click the Activate Me! button and nothing happened.

I also followed the "Problems With The Link Above?" prompt and manually put in Username and Activation code - the Activate Me! button still didn't work.

I’m still having the ‘online now’ issue- it’s unchecked in my preferences but definitely still showing up.

Where does it say that? I looked at your profile and I don't see where it says you're online. Am I missing something?
