Literotica Forum Update: Share Your Feedback, Issues & Requests

Share link/button or not, all one has to do is copy a post here and paste it somewhere else, or even just post a link to any thread here.
I know that. I was a lurker before becoming a member. Even then, I couldn't see the profiles. Furthermore, if you think that share button right on the top of the post does not help that behavior, you are mistaken. And as @GoingBackToBed very well said, now it seems more like a social media site. No longer a "membership club". It was nice to come to a place that didn't have those features. This goes even for the "followers" and "likes". I don't know, maybe that's just me and I am wrong. Carry on.

I agree with you. The more I am learning about the new forum, the more uncomfortable I get being here.

I am happy with many of the changes. I know Lit needed an upgrade badly. But I also agree that this being set up like a social media site is not exactly what I was hoping for. The lack of Privacy will be the biggest thing for me. All of it is virtually viewable to the outside public/Shareable by anyone.

The issue with the photo thumbnails showing for unregistered users should be resolved now. Please let me know if you see any attachment thumbnails that are still being shown to unregistered users.

The XenForo share button does the exact same thing as the previous "Email this Page" share button on the vBulletin forum that has been here for over a decade. It doesn't share any information other than a link to a post or thread, just like the one on vBulletin did. It's the same as copying and pasting a link from your browser into a Tweet, for example.

There is never any content loaded to or from any social media site unless someone decides to click one of the icons to open that site in another browser window to share a link. We could consider removing some of the sites listed (who doesn't hate FB these days), but the link feature is what has always allowed Lit authors and others to link to specific threads and posts easily. We can't remove the ability to link to posts/threads since many of them are resources for authors, etc.

Thanks for the continued feedback and reports! :)

Just click on the thread title now. No need for a separate icon any more.

That seems to only be taking me to the beginning of the thread.
Well, now I see but it is more clicks now. You have to click on the main thread name, then after it loads, you must click on the "Jump to New" button. Such a hassle now compared to the one click approach before.

If that's true then I'll be saying goodbye. I don't know what the site owners were thinking when they set it up like that. There are a lot of Litsters on here that want that kind of privacy.. including me. This is Lit... and it should not be connected to facebook or twitter or youtube or any of the other popular social media sites by no means.

Yes, this post is completely open to the public for viewing by ANYONE. No need to have an account to see the content. I agree and this is horrific!

That should only be the first time you open a thread after this upgrade. It's just a matter of setting the database to where you are most recently.

That's what I've been trying to tell them. Really nothing new about this but the name of it.

It still takes me to the first post, then I have to click on the Jump To New to go to the latest unread post.

See Manu's post above.

Same as the old board. No change there.

Is this behavior ("this post is completely open to the public for viewing by ANYONE. No need to have an account to see the content") different from the old site arrangement?

[I see that jaF0 has said it is no different from the old board]

Again, give it time to settle in. You'll have to do that the first time you open each thread, but the board will learn where you've been.

It would seem to "know" where I've been, if I can click on the Jump To New and it goes there. It is not doing that by just clicking on the thread title as you say.

Also, I am NOT talking about the new posts going back to Jan 25th or versus being current.

You're wrong. Post a pic and there's a share button where you can share it to some of the other social media sites. There was no share button on the older board.

Okay yes. Uploads direct to Lit show as a gray box to people not logged in. Thank you.

Yes. You could share a link with the old software, but if a person who was not a member clicked on it, they would be asked to sign in. I am not sure that is the case with this new way of sharing. You didn't use to have this easy way of sharing.

Profiles and AVs were also hidden to those who were not members.

You're right and I can see the AV without being logged in. So that is still visible  But if I click on a profile to view it. I cannot when I'm logged out. (I still can't log in from my phone so I am checking fairly easily.

Even if true, why would that have mattered. Signing up takes as few minutes at most and there is no cost. Literally anybody can and could sign up with no restrictions.

It matters when it comes to search engines. Hidden content, via membership access, is not loaded into search engine databases. Huge difference.

Because if this is all visible to anyone publicly without having to sign up. That means someone can share my post to their facebook and everyone will see it. At least if it is only members, I know they are fellow pervs and not my family.
