i noticed while doing family research in census records from the 1800's and earlier, in marriage, men were as much as 10-20 years older than the women. the men got young pussy and she had a better chance of having healthy babies and more of them, and maybe she got an older dude who was "settled" and had his shit together, and would drop dead soon enough so that she could inherit and then find her young stud for a few years.

1 in 30 women died in childbirth in the 1800s (and that was a great improvement over every preceding century). The average woman had as many as 5 children, making her odds of death about 1 in 8 overall.

It had little to do with "young pussy" it had everything to do with likelihood of death.
