LGBTQIA+ Daily Vibe II

Our touring group rides are never too crowded - seven motorcycles tops, solo rider and/or backpack, elevating the participants number to a maximum of fourteen, if complete. It's a restricted group, only women. We haven't had a trans member join us yet that I am aware if, but we are from all flavours of the spectrum - gay, bi, straight - that I'm sure would make any difference. We just want to ride and have fun, go to awesome places.

The Sunday ride is an exception (we got to a whopping 130 vehicles in the very last hours and around 150 participants), as it is in partnership with several entities, all with their own contributions to the event. The proceeds from the enrollment fee go entirely to a fund destined to cancer patients / treatments.

We also have the police backup for traffic flow and several activities / workshops set up, such as make-up booths for cancer patients, vouchers for micropigmentation sessions / tattooing, a defensive crash course for solo riders, food stalls and music.

As part of the organisation team, we aim to provide a spectacularly different day to these people, show that there is life after and during cancer, that even with such trying situations, they are not alone.
That's awesome, @_valkyrie_ !!
I am a bisexual male living in the States and have been trying find a wholesome motorcycle club for LGBTQIA+ riders but, so far, no luck.

Sorry to hear about your predicament, @Crios .
We, unfortunately, are based in Europe. We do organise other mixed riders events, but the vacation destinations are solely womxn-orientated. Other than that, since we are scattered all over, we each have our local riding mates. Notwithstanding, personally, I am not affiliated with any bikers' club in my region as I do not identify much with them, but that's me. That's why I tend to ride solo, outside the girls' get-togethers.

I hope you can find a spot to fit in soon!

Oops. "Displaced" my nose putting on a top. Somehow I managed to punch myself in the face and break it. Only me. Waited so long at the ER yesterday I just went home against medical advice. I was in the waiting room for 9 hours, I am generally not that patient. Pun intended? Figured since I have a follow up with the surgeon on Monday I'll just get her to reset it and place new stents so I can breathe again. Pain is meh, so whatever. You can laugh, it's funny. I sure did 😀

Maybe you could get a novelty nose - something that could get you niche acting jobs in scifi or fantasy movies?

Only trying to be helpful :rose: 👃

Spent most of my day running around looking at motorcycles. I can't afford a "fun" car right now, and my daily needs so much maintenance work I need to take it off the road for a few weeks, so I've been looking at alternatives. I'm sort of soft settled on a Triumph Tiger. Something I can ride daily with a bit of light trail riding once in a while. It's just not very safe to ride around here, that's my only hang up. People suck at driving cars and don't pay attention.

Hmm... well be careful whatever. I fell off one as a teen and still have the scars

I was hanging out and playing music with a trans-masc friend and an AMAB friend yesterday. They’re both somewhat socially awkward and on the aspie spectrum. Conversations often have an amusing lack of congruency.

The trans-masc friend has lived most of his life in queer or lesbian communities and hasn’t had a lot of experience hanging out with guys.

When we were ending our jam session he began casually asking detailed questions of our AMAB friend about his personal relationships: if he had much sexual experience and whether he was straight and had ever crossed the lines, etc…

The AMAB guy didn’t seem used to being openly questioned about such things. He said he was straight but shyly admitted he’s know a few guys he found attractive.

After the AMAB guy left the trans-masc friend asked me if I thought the other guy was offended, saying he’d seemed very uncomfortable.

I was already laughing. I told him, “Straight guys don’t usually talk much about their sexuality unless to boast.”

My aspie trans-masc friend thought about this for a minute then started laughing, hard. He started imagining a bunch of red neck guys drinking beers and asking each other, “How bout you? You still straight?” I’d never seen him lose it laughing before, but that really tickled him.

It’s true though. I’ve hung out with gay guys, lesbians, straight women, all kinds of queer in betweens. I’ve heard the identity and sexuality conversion come up with all of them, but never just among straight guys. 🤔😅

Anyway, just got off the water. Gotta rinse the gear and put away the kayaks. 🌞🌞

US Supreme Court to consider the legitimacy and legality of conversion therapy.

https://www.npr.org/2025/10/07/nx-s1-5563987/supreme-court-conversion-therapy-colorado

“At issue in the case is conversion therapy. It's generally defined as the treatment used to cure a person's attraction to the same sex; in other words, to make a gay person straight, and to cure a person's desire to change their gender identity by making them comfortable with their gender at birth.

Every major medical organization from the American Medical Association to the American Psychological Association has repudiated the practice, finding that it doesn't work, and instead leads to deep depression, and suicidal thoughts in minors. As a result of these findings, half of states have banned the practice for those under age 18.“

I’ve had friends who were sent to conversion therapy as dependent minors. It was religion based clinical abuse and personalized terrorism. 😢😡 And it didn’t work. It was used as more of place to send a naughty kid away to rather than any place intended for “healing”. Unfortunately I fear this is a key part of the current administration’s agenda.

Distraught. Getting ready for the next several work days of not much fun. Still glad to have the work. Going to be wearing my boots and Carharts, listening to my Spotify playlists.

Homophobic, right wing, so-called Christians are taking advantage of the chaos being sown by MAGA to push this country back to the 1890s.😡🤬🥵
1890s? We would be lucky if it was the 1890s. These people want us to go back to the 1400s. They want to eliminate science and bring back the bubonic plague.

Had a bit of rain this week. Woke up and couldn't figure out why the cats where meowing at the top of top stairs. Looks like I a bit of flooding from the river and the water was about 9 inches up the wall on the first floor. Fortunately it didn't get any deeper but still. Not looking forward to the cleanup. 3rd time it's flooded in as many years. I might lose my flood insurance. 1 claim from previous owners in the last 21 years, and I've had 3 in the last 5 years. Cleanup is going to be rough this time. River, well, creek is still up about 3 meters. Peaked around 3.8 meters this morning. Good thing I can't smell right now because hell, the roommate is still gagging. Internet is down, not safe to drink the water, sewers are backed up a bit, bit at least I still have power. And now it's raining again, ugh.

Good evening, everyone.

I thought I would share a few thoughts regarding the Sunday event.

What an incredible experience our recent motorcycle ride for cancer prevention turned out to be! The turnout exceeded our expectations, with riders and supporters rallying together to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. The enthusiasm from the community was palpable wherever we rode along, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The weather was splendid throughout the day. We are already brainstorming ideas to make next year's event even bigger and better!

Several improvements to be considered for next year's motorcycle ride - adding scenic routes that showcase the beauty of our region. We also aim to appeal to local businesses, hoping to create sponsorship packages that offer them visibility at the event and throughout the community, fostering long-term partnerships. The specific feedback from participants included a pink bus for the Roses (cancer patients) that can't ride along on motorcycle – I am completely on board with this – while the rest of bikers escort the bus, some live music / artists to enhance the atmosphere and outreach to local vendors for food and merchandise.

All in all, it was a blast! Definitely put a lot of wheels into motion (pun intended) as the visibility and engagement on social media was fantastic. I am very proud of myself and the people behind all this.

Keira Knightley exposes her own middle-class, over-privileged ignorance in an interview where she's sniggers at her own fake apology. Apparently KK is voicing an audio version of something to do with Harry Potter. I'm just mildly disappointed, but hardly surprised. Anyone, like Knightley, pretending they hadn't heard of the Terf-related hatred from JKRowling supposes we're all stupid too.

It has been really stormy in my corner of the world these past two weeks. This last weekend we were forecast to be pummeled by a ex-typhoon!
It barely missed us, but it did big damage where it did hit.
I'm not sure how well my home would do in a storm this powerful....hopefully I won't have to find out this year anyways.
After all the excitement I was out walking and found a rainbow rock! There is joy in unexpected things ⚡✨

I am not sure this is the best place to post this info, gonna go for it tho...
I'm a pretty consistent reader of https://www.assignedmedia.org/ and find their news and issues articles well written.
It is very focused on LGBTQ, and particularly transgender news, but hopefully cisgender folk read it also.

The site has a resource called the https://transdatalibrary.org/ that I find interesting and perhaps others will too.
Here is how it is introduced,
"The Trans Data Library collects reliable, carefully sourced information on the organizations and individuals engaged in anti-trans activism with the goal of de-mystifying these groups, their connections, and aims for the public."

Mood: amped up, gonna be at our local No Kings gathering!

Glad to see you're okay - just been watching the airlifts going on in some coastal towns over there
I'll take a look at those (y)

On a positive note, let me introduce you to Kerstin Casparij. Y'all know I'm a fan of women's soccer and the wristband kiss popped into the news shortly after the UK's Supreme Court announcement earlier this year. I'd noticed Kerstin before ( because cute of course ) but didn't know much about her.

She made this statement recently
'In April, after scoring for Manchester City against Everton, I kissed a band in the blue, white and pink colours of the transgender flag on my right wrist. I felt very strongly about the supreme court ruling, politically and emotionally. It really hurt me, even though I’m a cisgender woman, and it still hurts me because it targets people within my community.

I really feel part of the queer community because I grew up in a pretty small town in the Netherlands and didn’t have a lot of queer people in my circle or in school, and there wasn’t a lot of representation on TV. I never really felt a part of any community because I didn’t really know it was out there. Growing up and coming out and being in women’s football, which has a very accepting and open environment, and then moving to Manchester, I felt that I could be myself and I became much more in touch with the community. It has been a new, refreshing part of my life.

After the supreme court ruling I wanted to spread solidarity, give them love and appreciation and cut through all the hate they were getting. The ruling made me put those colours on my wrist, but my feelings and thoughts had built up over the years to the point where I wanted to do something.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. I got so many incredible responses from within the trans community – from trans fans from all clubs across the WSL, from trans people who love sports – but also from people across the world. I loved the allyship from other queer groups or straight cis people, supporting them and showing them love. I didn’t want to tell people what to do, because I don’t think that works, but I wanted to share my solidarity and I hoped it would connect people. It was very wholesome and if anyone was spreading hate in my mentions online I didn’t have to respond because people understood and would jump on it.

That action on the pitch, and the response and impact it had, made me realise my voice is a lot louder than I thought. I underestimated how vital our support is for those who need a voice. I decided I wanted to help more, to give back to my community, and that I especially wanted to help women. It is trans women who are affected by the supreme court’s decision but it is an attack on women as a whole.

So I started to look for ways to help and got in contact with the LGBT Foundation, which is based in Manchester. That’s how I became a patron for the foundation and I’m really happy to be able to champion its work.'

Thanks for posting her response! It is so uplifting to read, especially this part above.
We totally need more people like her in this world 💖🌹

I'm just watching a Hogwarts movie repeat on TV - one of the ones where people pause then say You Know Who in place of Voldemort. It got me thinking... does anyone refer to JKRowling as You Know Who? I checked online and couldn't see anything, but it would be appropriate huh?
Also, I keep getting muggled between JKR and RFK. Is it such a leap to suggest they are two halves of the same black hole? o_O:eek:
